Huawei chipsets are designed and manufactured in-house. They can still be intercepted in shipment, but this is way, way more expensive and time consuming for the NSA/CIA to do, especially on a massive scale.
Built-in backdoors allow easy dragnet surveillance. Huawei throws a wrench in those plans. Don't you find it interesting that all of a sudden huge tech companies in the US (ALL of whom are involved with the NSA's PRISM program) and then the Department of Commerce suddenly decided to ban Huawei on the grounds of """""protecting national security"""""?

America doesn't have any trade restrictions based on requiring backdoors; hardware only gets backdoored internally because those companies are operating in the US or in American-controlled territory (South Korea and Japan, namely). They don't have any public laws or any "official" requirements for backdoors. They're put in place, silently, with as little attention as possible.
Chinese companies are not under that heavy of influence.

You're very stupid if you think NSA relies on factory backdoors at all, NSA has two main intel gathering vectors: PRISM which relies entirely on internet communications (by far the biggest vector), and exploiting hardware flaws remotely. Factory backdoors are way more trouble than they're worth and have the gigantic flaw of being exploitable by anyone who knows about it, so hardware flaws are usually done on an individual per-target basis.

You're living a bit in the past. A large segment of data gathering is through hardware these days. Not really backdoors, though, because most people voluntarily and legally offer this data up.
It's very safe to say NSA already knows and exploits all the billions of flaws in chinkphones even without the chink's help, they don't need backdoors at all and any chink-made processor will most likely have more flaws than even intlel swiss cheese.
