Hey Jow Forums

Hey Jow Forums
/lit/ here
How would someone like me make a website to post his writings that can’t be taken down by The Powers That Be.

twitter.com/SFWRedditVideos

Install gentoo

upload it to torrent websites accompanied by trending porn/music/movies/games for maximum proliferation

import website

tor

I thought tor was for browsing the internet?

Interesting. I hadn’t thought about that. I was just thinking about how to make a website and not about how best to get the work out there.

Freenet, its shit though and noone will install all the shit just to read the insane ramblings on your shitty blog.

Encode them into the Bitcoin or Ethereum blockchains.

Don’t you think that’s a bit technical for someone who doesn’t even use Linux?

Well that’s not a very good way to get readers then. Is there a way to make a website like that but make it easy to find from a regular browser?

ipfs

Depends on what your writings are about. It's extremely likely that the powers that be won't care and you don't have to think about this in the first place.

Nope,
blockchain is just a data structure that links everything together by hash codes. There are tons of metaphors a person can use to explain it to anyone. Linux, even ubuntu, is way more complicated than blockchain.

If you can take the time and spend a little money than I recommend using a consumer grade computer to host your website. If you own the domain and the hardware then you can publish whatever you want. Downside is that your webpage is probably going to look every dated and you'll need to learn about html or css. The upside is that the information on how to do this is incredibly available and most of it is free. Don't pay for what you can get from stack overflow for free.

Good luck user.

Off topic. For the purposes of this thread, let’s assume I do have reason to fear censorship.

are you the guy who wrote the book with the word 'nigger' in it 50k times?

I thought domains were essentially leased, not owned.

Put it on the block chain next to the immutable child porn

No. My work isn’t finished yet.

Will check this out, thanks.

Do you mean posting it on steem or something like that?

No it's not off topic. There are many system threat levels and dozens of tiers of censorship depending on the content. How one would go about handling them is not a one size fits all solution.

I’m not asking you to predict what level of censorship I might face based on the content of my work. That’s more like a question for Jow Forums or something. I’m asking you how I can make a website that will be able to stay online in the face of attempted censorship.

>I’m asking you how I can make a website that will be able to stay online in the face of attempted censorship.
And I'm telling you that depends on what you write. The answer in general ranges from "host it in the US" to "you can't."

If you can post it here you can post it online.

>will be able to stay online in the face of attempted censorship
You don't seem to understand. Depending on who wants to censor you, the chance of you being censored changes.
There isn't really any reliable method to host a website that's 100% immune to censorship.

I used to go on yahoo chat NHL room, copy a yahoo sports page article, edit it to be about hockey trades or stories that would piss the most people off, yahoo message it to myself, find the message's url in my firewall logs for yahoo's server, and post the link in the chatroom. Dumb fuckers always bit.

Let me rephrase my question in a way that might be less triggering to a technophile bugman.

Of all the available technologies, what is the best way for someone with limited technical knowledge to create a website that is resistant to censorship?

It should go without saying (although maybe nothing goes without saying for a bugman) that virtually nothing is IMMUNE to censorship, but the question isn’t “is anything immune to censorship?” It’s how can someone in my position best protect themselves from it.

I am looking for advice and resources, not for some computer nerd to well akshully me with “nothing is truly IMMUNE to censorship” or “there’s different levels, you can say things on your own website that wouldn’t fly on twitter.” Those things common knowledge and therefore not a meaningful contribution.

Nope, still triggering. I have no idea how to give you advice when I can't know what censorship you want to be resistant to. Fine, now we know that you want a level of censorship-resistance above twitter, that's a start. As you say, host it yourself is the solution. Beyond that it's impossible to say because I can't just pick some arbitrary level of censorship to give you advice against.

So unless further information is given I'll just assume you mean "how can I create a website that's resistant to the highest tier of censorship" and the answer to that is that you can't.

IPFS and torrents for offsite storage.

Go read a book on how to make a website (or blog in your case) or something. Asking Jow Forums for genuine advice is like finding hay in a needlestack. Maybe get a Medium profile and post your shit there. Also consider installing GNU/Linux and read the gospel of our based prophet Stallman. Also why No Love Deep Web from you?

Thanks. IPFS is something I’m going to look into. I don’t know anything about it.

>Also why No Love Deep Web from you?

I would like as many people as possible to be able to read it.

Accessibility and resilience to censorship are almost perfectly inversely correlated.

If you had any interest in making a positive contribution you would’ve done so by now.

Well, I tried. I'm just telling you that your question has no answer when you're not willing to expand on it. All the answers you've gotten are potentially wrong.

I suppose that’s always been a dilemma, even before the internet.

At least I got some, no thanks to you.

What good are wrong answers?

That user is kind of being difficult, but he is right. There is a difference between wanting to resist domestic/foreign states vs resisting censorship from a company or organization that may not like what you have to say.

Your website will be somewhere in a Bottomless Pit.

No one wants to read your stupid manifesto

It’s a shame he’s too busy doing his best impersonation of a computer program to actually explain what that difference is.

Nobody, including me, will know for sure until I put it out there and see what people think.

That would take a long time. Much easier if you do what I asked you a long time ago and describe the content you want to spread, so it can be estimated who it will piss off. Then I can make a proper analysis of what you can or can not do.

Dude even a Fashion Week is more interesting than a stupid website of some random nobody. How will people find your site?

Attached: Fashion_Week_cover.jpg (346x288, 18K)

>why would someone who claims to be worried about censorship not discuss in detail the project he plans to undertake, and exactly the entities it might offend, on this cantonese basketweaving chatroom?
>does not compute

I have some ideas about marketing. But that is part of the reason I was hoping for some solutions that involved keeping the site on the regular internet instead of Tor or whatever, to make it easy for people to find.

Also, the idea that it’s impossible to start a website in 2019 is both ludicrous and also not the point of this thread.

I hope The Money Store lends you some Government Plates but since it's the Year Of The Snitch I'm gonna tell you I've been putting references of Death Grips albums in each one of my posts because I thought you made a reference by saying The Powers That B. Anyway I'm going to bed, good luck with your website.

Attached: Screenshot_20190523-024917_Spotify.png (1440x2960, 414K)

I only listen to Bob Dylan.

Death Grips has better lyricism than Bob Dylan

First of all how dare you. Second of all I guess I’ll check it out thanks.

Lol, you're so ignorant, how cute.

No, that's fine. But your question is impossible to answer then. Since you requested it I'll describe some tiers of censorship and the best course of action, who knows if it will hit the mark with your sekrits but it's the best I can do for a mysteriousfag.

>I want to trigger SJWs
Host it on godaddy

>I want to sperg out about Jow Forums tier stuff
Host it in the third world. No one gives a shit.

>I want to spread covert footage I've made of my country's elite doing pervy shit
Focus on super-paranoid opsec and learn how to social network on dank web to maximize inevitably low dissemination. It's going to get spun by intel, expect it.

>I've written a philosophical treatise deconstructing the inherent flaws in our civilizational system in a way that normalfags understand
Burn it and go hide in the woods.

Many more, but maybe that helps.

Imagine if this was your first post and you hadn’t wasted all this time with your argumentative anal bugman nonsense.

Imagine if you just told us what your super sekrit manifesto was about from the get go so I wouldn't even have to write it. Did it help?

rent some vps with the latest meme coin and hand out the ip address.
don't expect anything you have to say will matter enough to be blip though.

God damn, I thought /lit/ being full of self-righteous retards with their heads up their asses was a meme until this thread. Holy shit.

>host it in the us
>or don’t
No.

Well, at least we both wasted some time.

So many retards ITT. OP, you cannot make something truly censorship resistant due to the sole fact that places like China and North Korea exist. However, to be the most censorships resistant:
- buy physical server
- put in garage
- set up website on it
- buy domain
- archive it on a bunch of archive sites
If possible, place the server in the middle east or some other shithole where big nations won't have much say.

Fuck you
Fuck you too

Thanks.

If you have the money, get a bunch of low-tier(or high tier) VPSs from different providers and host the site on all of them for redundancy. Look for ones originating in different countries.

I will look into this. Thanks user

Np. Will you link it here when you're done? I'm interested

Are you writing "Humbert Humbert Was Not a Bad Guy. Here's Why."?

Sure. It will definitely be on /lit/ too

No.

>/lit/ here
so you're a cute girl (female). post feet.

This is probably the best answer, but it's a lot of research and configuring that is definitely too hard for the average schmoe. Resisting digital censorship is not easy and you'll need to do some learning on the subject. Also, depends on the type of censorship you're trying to resist, like other have said. Different types warrant different strategies.

No problem. It will take some reading to use IPFS but its not impossibly difficult.

It seems to me that being censorship resistant means to have so many copies of a thing so widely spread out that it becomes impossible or at least prohibitively expensive to stop their spread.

That won't happen unless people want to download your shit.

True, but none of this would matter anyway if nobody’s reading. Thanks
