What the fuck is this thing and why is it gaining popularity?

Isn't it just another frankenbuntu?

It is shipped with some new computers I think.

retarded name, won't use it

Yet another frankenbuntu, usually on system76's overpriced computers

Because some company is using it as their desktop distro.

reddit distro

Hmmm

no u

I think it Will fail
But it has some nicer things over Ubuntu
It doesnt ship the garbage packages
The appstore of elementary is more user friendly than gnomes
The instalation cd is even more simple
Better theme

And uses less ram

>A fork of a fork of Debian
Just use Debian for christ's sake, stop using frankendebians you're gonna regret it sooner or later.

Let people use whatever the fuck they want, you fucking sperg.
Ubuntu and Pop_OS comes with some OOTB for people that don't know how to do it by hand and/or don't want to waste time with that.
Debian is based but it's not for everyone, you fucking NEET.

>Ships with some PCs
>Backed by company
>Marketed endlessly
>Shilled by brainlets
I wonder why it's popular

Forbes has been shilling it in their "linux for brainlets" articles

> people that don't know how to do it
There's their problem right here.

>Linux is muh secret club and I don't want it to be popularized
Fuck off sperg.

Mint but worse.

RIDE ON SHOOTING STAR

>this faggot screams this shit on this board 24/7
It's not like you actually do anything with your system but browse Jow Forums.

>there are technical differences between debian and ubuntu

>i'm defending another man because I'm gay
Gross.

>71077757
>I can't disprove shit since I'm retarded
makes sense

similar to ubuntu except it ships with newest (and nvidia's closed source by default) drivers, unlike ubuntu

Beat version of Ubuntu

Debian shills are out in full force lately. Debian was not designed for the casual user and even Sid is outdated.

>Isn't it just another frankenbuntu?
Almost, but no. It's Ubuntu with a custom theme and improved drivers for System76's computers. It also has a different installer developed with them and elementary OS devs.

It's "difficult" for no reason, is the thing. Arch/Gentoo are difficult, but provide unique benefits to using them. Debian just has outdated packages with no unique benefits.

For faggots who don't know how to install Nvidia drivers or set up a printer.
Will be kill as soon as people figure out System 76 uses rebranded Chink laptops.

It has a good shot really, the company backing it has a vested interest in the Linux desktop unlike Ubuntu who mostly care about their cloud services.

The theme is good

It's Ubuntu with extra hand holding for hyper brainlets who find regular Ubuntu too difficult to use, by the System76 guys.

Did I say it? DID I REALLY SAY IT?! People should go and learn some basics, or it will be difficult to use any OS.

Sid is outdated when a stable release is 3-4 months away from getting out, most of the devs will be working on the testing branch and getting it ready for stable. Otherwise it's just rolling release. No, it's not bleeding edge but works as rolling release just fine
>Debian was not designed for the casual user
This makes no sense. Debian is easy to install and use, it just works. No, it's not as friendly as Ubongo or Mint but it's pretty simple to install and configure nonetheless.

Normies need their applications up to date. Imagine a sperg still not having the new Chrome UI, they'd literally switch distros.

Because it's an easy to use, accessible, stable distro.
