im learing bash scripting
and i wondered, is there a way how to get the PID of current script inside that current script (retrospectively) ?
lets say im running dwm and i wrote a simple bash script to populate the xsetroot name in the panel, but when I do pgrep bash, my machine displays several IDs. Do to kill it and start again i need to remember the PID from the stdout it spit when sending it to the background using &

- making a new browser profile, transferring just what i want over
- clearing out greasemonkey and importing Jow Forums X settings back
- clearing Jow Forums X settings completely, manually bringing over filters and things

I have an SQL table with values and a time stamp. It is primarily used to collect user information, it look like it:

I count occurrence of operating system by grouping the operating system name. SELECT COUNT(*), os as operating_system FROM TABLE table GROUP BY os;

So I end up with this:

macOs: 1
Linux: 1;
Windows: 2

My question is, how do I clean up the macOs name? How do I change it to Mac OS when I select it?

I'm fucking with an old virus-ridden laptop. Only 32 bit and only 3GB ram. Can I upgrade this heap to windows 7, from vista? Would it be worth it? I'm focusing most of my attention on this atm or I'd be spending hours googling all this shit myself to figure out an answer on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, /sqt/, I found some weird partition on my netbook. I only noticed it when started preparing partitions for Linux installation. It was shown as EFI partition in Win disk utility and had all the actions greyed out. It didn't mount in Linux either. All i know about it is that it's empty, has a size of 18.4 Mib and fdisk also shows it as an EFI partition.
I don't know why would it have an EFI partition, because this netbook runs BIOS. And still I'm afraid to delete it, Win utility can't delete it for some reason, I guess.
So, wtf is this drive and what can I do with it?

I got extremely drunk last weekend and decided it was a good idea to print porn on the family printer. It only printed out random letters and numbers because I lacked the drivers, but now it doesn't stop printing random shit as soon as you turn it on. I installed the drivers on my PC but can't delete the queue because it says it's empty. What the FUCK should I do? The printer is an Epson XP-325.

So I wanted to create some neat 2D animations (think fuzzy bar charts filled with gradient, with shifting colors and motion blur up the ass), my idea was to draw the frames in GIMP using scriptfu and join them in ffmpeg.
The only problem is, the language that GIMP interprets turned out to be a dialect of Lisp, which I found to be too autistic and unsuitable for my needs.
So I'm looking for an efficient way to program (program, no drag-and-drop please) an aesthetically-pleasing animation, any suggestions?

How can I test 4 pieces of memory to see if one is faulty? I have 4 of the same type installed and memory test shows nothing wrong but I keep getting memory related errors popping up in BSOD. How exactly can I systematically test these jokers to see if one done got goofed?

Trying to decompile a fucking videogame executable to add specific functionality to the game
Tried using snowman on the main .exe, after eating about 23 GB of memory I gave up on that
Should I try to decompile the auxiliary game engine plugins in the folder first to see if it's possible to just modify them for the functionality, or is there a decompiler that is able to handle 40+ MB executables and linked libraries?

It was a custom build I don't think it came overclocked but it may have been. It certainly has the capability to be overclocked from bios.

I used to use AVG for the duplicate finder and the file explorer(for finding large files) but they removed them, those fucks.

When I boot onto my main account on Windows 10, I get a black screen upon startup. I have a cursor and can access ctrl+alt+delete, as well as alt-tab, but I can't see or use any of the opened applications like task manager. Deleting explorer.exe by scrolling down and hitting delete with my keyboard solves the issue, but of course without explorer.exe. Re-enabling explorer.exe brings back the black screen that makes everything unusable.

How do I fix this? Do I have a backdoor RAT?
