Only Home, Pro, and their variants like Education can be activated by HWID and requires an internet connection to Microsoft Activation Servers to remain activated, phoning home at set periods. Every time MS activation services goes down, which has happened at least 2 times in the past, all HWID activations become deactivated if they try to phone home for reactivation during that time.

KMS is the only reliable activation that is done locally and is in the user's control.

SCDKey is one of those places where you can get a Win10 key for 15bux or so.

you can get a key for a fresh install off ebay. look for a seller that has sold a lot of keys over a longer period of time. the cheapest ones with low feedback tend to be bad.

Not the same guy but I recently upgraded my genuine home license to pro using hwid on the may 2019 update. Here's what I did.
Disable internet
input generic 10 Pro product key.
let the upgrade happen
connect to internet
run the hwidgen
select hwid
click start. it fails.
go to settings>activation>troubleshoot
"We've activated windows for you"

Just download whatever edition you want and use an activator. Ezpz.

I recently upgraded from 7 to 10. I bought a $5 key from ebay. During the installation process I was waiting for the part where I had to enter my key, but I was taken straight to home. So I checked my system info and it said my windows was already activated. Really weird but 100% rad.
