true but your OS uses the CPU as well, at the same time. Leaving 2 cores for the OS and 4 or more for the software is the way to go these days.

no. there's only so far you can go, specially with winshit.
In the year of our lord it makes no sense to get 4 cores, at least on a desktop. 6 core CPUs are everywhere and cost peanuts, and with memezen 3000, curent 6 core CPUs will cost even less.
