Her degree was in Political Science

Is Lamba School a good way to learn programming without going to college?

It’s $30,000 for the program but I keep seeing it shilled on Twitter as a fantastic way to enter the industry.

sounds like a scam, you can learn this stuff in 6 months for free

Attached: 1551663996103.png (372x307, 14K)

lmao, in 3 months

Yet another liberal bragging about how badly they fucked up financially as if a $250,000 Marxist degree makes them a better “humanist” than a cheap one

no, its just another business to make money of lazy idiots like this chick

Why do people think that paying money for education will lend them a job and put knowledge in their brains? It might certainly help you get a job, but you have to work hard yourself in order to learn something. You can learn all these things yourself, that Lamda School might be a scam. Also, stop reading twitter and being retarded.

>falling for one meme after the other

Is it americans or just women in general that are pathetic

capitalism has failed

>a quarter million USD
Topkek

With 250k $$$ you can move to a second world country in Europe and literally live the rest of your days without working and these morons waste it on college to become better slaves and it doesn't even do anything. Jesus Christ.

Well, it depends to what level. You could learn the absolute basics of everything in an hour, or pretty much devote your life to each of them, although making it your life mission to be the best iOS developer seems a bit sad desu.

>$250k
You could move to a 1st world Western European country and study for 15 PHDs

If you want to work for a big company or a government, a diploma is more often than not a prerequisite. It doesn't guarantee that you're more competent than anyone else, but it's kind of like one of those proof of authenticity flashy sticker things that let people know where you're from and most of the time should show that you've gone through at least some vetting process already.

I've actually seen firsthand a guy who learned coding on his own and did get a job but kept getting passed on for raises by his peers simply because he didn't have the degree.

Flip side I've seen a guy also learn coding on his own and is doing just fine. But to get to where he is the same amount of time he could've just gotten the degree.

>spent too much money on knowledge that doesn't get me a job
>I know! Let's spend more money on knowledge that doesn't get me a job
I get the feeling that Political Science wasn't the problem.

imagine being american, imagine paying for education

Attached: gengar_laughs.png (508x490, 209K)

>250k
Fucking Christ I can move to a third country like Thailand and easily retire there without having to work ever again.

you can learn the basics (which is really all you get with a bachelor's) but you don't really learn anything until you get in the industry

I've got no degree since I just learned everything myself and was able to get a full-time job with no issue. Unfortunately most people in America fall to the trap of (((higher education)))

As an American I can tell you nobody here is really that bright. Talent wise yes, knowledge wise not really. They always fall for this shit and the student loan bubble is already really big right now.

She makes more than the typical Jow Forums poster

>It’s $30,000 for the program
For something where you don't even get an academic degree? Do you at least have a vagina and unhealthy BMI?

>interaction engineer
...

>polisci
>marxist degree
Absolute state of conservatives

Why would anyone want to learn such a set of different things, really stupid idea

They just stuck a bunch of flavour of the month things in there for marketing basically

YOU CAN LIE ABOUT HAVING A DEGREE.

We are living in an age of pernicious credentialism where moneyed elites control the institutions of higher education, financial aid, and hiring. The current education paradigm was based on a social contract that no longer is being upheld by our society. You do not have an obligation to uphold your end of a contract when the other party has withdrawn.

Lie about having a degree 101:

1. Choose a reasonable degree from an average school. Do not put outrageous claims on your CV. Pick a mid-level state school from far away from the job you are applying for and learn about that school.

2. Aim low. Do not apply for big companies like Microsoft or Google.

3. Actually know your shit. Learn on your own for a few years, study actual CS or whatever you are claiming to have knowledge of. Get a portfolio of real projects.

4. If you are ever asked for proof of your education, tell them you will provide it to them, wait a week, and then withdraw your application and say you have taken an offer elsewhere. This happens all the time in professional settings and is not looked down on.

5. Remember that it is illegal for schools to release information about students. Employers almost always rely on self-reporting of education. You have no obligation to actually offer this information unless asked.

6. Experience and references count for more than education, so as long as you can manage this you should do fine.

Good luck, friends. You do not deserve to languish in poverty but our society is structured such to harm your attempts to better yourself. This advice all worked for me personally. It can work for your. I hope you all make it.

Bitch with a polisci degree? My python deep learning algorithm returns dumbass Marxist cunt every time

>Spend a shit ton on degree
>Can't find work because the field is either worthless or requires actual competence
Hey, here's a thought, look for something that's employable

Learn an easy lang like JS pr Python on your own, take a cert course at a legitimate technical school, look for work while learning on your own.
Working as sysadmin pretty much a month out of class.

Well it's often spent with loans so they can pay interest for most of their lives.

30k? That’s about what it costs to go to an in state school. For that much money why not get an actual degree? This makes no sense. The only real benefit to going to college is the weight the school has, this place has 0. Why pay so much for that? I never understood people going to these meme schools. The degree is totally worthless. Learn on your own or go to a school that actually has credibility. I have a friend that paid like 60k to go to itt tech which got shut down for being a fraud and his degree is literally worthless. I don’t mean worthless like people say here about all college degrees, I mean is it literally worth as much as the paper it’s printed on. No one even acknowledges that he has a degree.

I can confirm this works

sysadmin is the waitress of IT.

>soi grin
>on a roastie

you forgot the most important step
>7. Don't tell anyone on the internet about this because then everyone will try it and flags will be raised at every employer across the country.
thanks, fuckface. go fucking kill yourself before you fuck up anything else.

Having a degree is a spook, Max.

Lol it's paid on loans you retard, at least learn how our shitty country works before you make fun of it

No, it's to prove you're willing to sacrifice your freedom, dignity, individuality, etc etc and conform to the arbitrary rules and demands of a dictatorial authority. In polite terms to prove you can stick through and complete what you said you were gonna do, but basically to show that you're a good little worker bee that won't make waves

do these people not get FAFSA or any form of scholarship? do people seriously get loans that they have to pay back? I'm surprised they managed to graduate seeing how dumb they are

>30k? That’s about what it costs to go to an in state school
Lmfao yeah for one year, not four

FAFSA maxes out at like 5,500 a year, a shitty state school costs 5 or 6 times that. A good private university even more. Not everyone can get scholarships, this is what happens when the workplace is rigged and everyone gets brainwashed into going to college

this. as much as i usually disagree with noam chomsky i can't recommend "manufacturing consent" enough.

>everyone gets brainwashed into going to college
tradies love repeating this ad nauseum to cover for their insecurities about being stupid.
there's no reason every worker in a developed country shouldn't be in school until age 22 - yes, even if you're in a skilled-trade apprenticeship of some sort.
like, god forbid someone ask you to read a book that's not about welding.

What the fuck? She got a political science degree and just stopped there? You're supposed to go to law school, get some other graduate degree, or run for office. What did she think you use a political science degree for?

>brainwashed into going to college
Yeah, we can't have people getting educated and shit. Harder to control then, right?

The real way in is to learn it yourself and then form a small business. Hire all of the Jow Forums neets that didn't make it and undercut the pajeets at their own game.

you're drowning in irony

It might perhaps teach one to spell land properly

>i spent a shitload of money on a piece of paper
>nobody wants to buy my set of "skills"
>i'm an insufferable cunt
>i have nothing of value to add to the economy

Capitalism hasn't failed. You have, at life.

Attached: ching chong intensifies.png (270x245, 64K)

>FAFSA maxes out at like 5,500 a year
no it maxes at 12,000 and a lot of scholarships just require you to apply to get them

Insufficiently regulated capitalism was a failure from the beginning, and it's only gotten worse.

Is desktop support the dishwasher?

>Interaction Engineer
What the fuck does this even mean? Sounds like a made-up job title for people with literally zero skills and only exists for "diversity"

>data science after web development

lol data science has turned into a meme like CS where every normie thinks they are going to make millions and change the world.. What you posted is literally a meme curriculum

>quarter-million dollar degreeMy bachelor's degree cost me $20k in debt, and my master's degree cost me an additional $10k. My PhD is free because of a research assistantship.

Why are people spending so much money on their education?

I don't know why I typed out the link to /a/ in that.

Waitressing isn't a verb. I fucking hate this so much when people say this. It's Waiting. You are a waitress, but you aren't "Waitressing" - When an IT tech is working, does he say he's "technicianing?" No, he doesn't, because it isn't a verb. So if you're a waitress, it's WAITING. The proper way of saying it is "Even with a quarter-million dollar degree, the only job I can land is working as a waitress."

Attached: waiting....jpg (1920x2560, 988K)

I'm a $(random-adjective) engineer!

When I was down on my luck I applied to a job that had a similar title, I can't remember it exactly but it was something like "Happiness Engineer" or "Customer Relations Engineer" or some shit like that, and it was literally just customer service worse than any helpdesk job I've seen

Most people think going to a prestigious university matters

Get in-state tuition, retard. It's like 10-12k a year for in-state tuition at state schools.

Who do you think gets their debt? Who do you think teaches them there? What kind of ideas do you think they're taught there?

>Denmark
>0$ tuition because EU citizen
>get paid 900$ a month to attend uni when my monthly expenses are 600$ tops (cheap city)
>CS curriculum is based on MIT/Stanford/UCLA books/courses

Downside is master's is the new bachelor's

>Literally getting paid for an Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue

Feels great

yeah my parents did florida prepaid and i still racked up 30k taking out money for weed and rent

how?

>those anons acting smug about not going to college

I wonder if they realize you can tell almost instantly talking to them that they didn’t go to college. To make it easier to understand, I’m sure you guys have met people(usually some hick from the country or a black person) that never went to high school and you can tell right away. They SEEM stupid. Because they are uneducated and it oozes off them. Just so you know, for those of you that act smug about not going, it’s obvious, and it’s like someone making 50k a year bragging about his fat stacks of money to someone who makes 100k. It’s both hilarious and sad. Not everyone needs to, or should go to college. But bragging about it is just sad. And not everyone made stupid choices like the op. I came out with 0 debt, got a degree that helped me get a job, had fun, learned interesting things, got some prime 18-20yr old pussy, and made a few good friends. Acting “smarter” because you didn’t go to college is so ironic it hurts.

Scholarships make it virtually free, like $500 a semester. Living with my parents means no living expenses. Working on campus means I actually make money going to college. I just quit that job for a summer internship, but still

Given your answer I can tell you likely didn't go to college.

Attached: 1556133453971.png (200x164, 42K)

>spending $250k on a degree
I guess another $30k is nothing.

I should just pull the trigger and go to Europe.
Do you need citizenship for free College there?
Or can I get it on a visa?

But she’s throwing it away when she would get much better value from going to a state school in her state. Contrary to what other anons are saying you can go to a state school for like 10k a year with in state tuition. Since she already has a degree she can do it in 3 years or less since some classes will already be done. So 30k or less for a degree employers might actually care about. Degree from literally who online scam school is totally worthless

It's how companies trick people into shit tier jobs these days.
You're no longer a fry cook, you're a burger technician.

tutition for my degree CS degree was $8000 CAD ($6000 USD) per year, from a respectable Canadian university. Of course you also need to factor in food and rent unless you can live with your parents

so youre really not getting "paid" except for the scholarship part

>Do you need citizenship for free College there?
The 15 PHDs exemple is when you DO NOT have access to free college there. It includes tuition (for standard universities) + healthcare insurance (which in Europe means almost entirely free healthcare).

>my quarter-million dollar degree got me grammared by a literal nazi on an anime image board
honk

Damn, that's cheap.
That's like 17K for 4 years.

Sweetie, the total tuition fees for your PHD (7 years) would be less than 10k €

>I came out with 0 debt, got a degree that helped me get a job, had fun, learned interesting things, got some prime 18-20yr old pussy, and made a few good friends.
Tone it back a bit, good bait is subtle and this just comes off as trying too hard.

7 years is a long time for a university to not explode peacefully.

>shilled on Twitter
You have your answer.

A little bit of advice OP,

Perhaps you don't wanna take a career advice from someone who blew a quarter million dollars on school only to end up in a wageslave job.

Coping Amerifat. I been thinking of a free college there too. Why not? Am I that cucked to america to not take advantage of free socialism?
They're even less common than our random shootings. Their cops are cucked, I don't even think the brits have guns lmao.

>spending $250,000 didn't get me a job
>spending $30,000 more will though
wew. You can learn programming for free (as in beer). All you need is a computer and some motivation.

>anyone i don't like is american
you're dumb

He might not be lying. I know tons of guys that had that happen. College girls are whores and they're super hot compared to girls that don't go to college. The hottest that don't go are really ghetto and dance in strip clubs or have mental issues from being molested. College girls are way better than non college girls.

Literally how is it bait. It’s a few very common experiences and facts. Not everyone goes into debt for college. Many or most get laid. Some degrees are quite useful for getting jobs. Many meet lifelong friends. You CAN tell if someone has been to college most of the time. And finally bragging about being uneducated is pretty stupid. Again, not saying everyone needs to go, but it has its benefits and acting smug about not going is really silly. You can’t get away with it irl because the regret, shame, envy shows on your face.

>not learning it in 30 days
Are you stupid?

>they're super hot compared to girls that don't go to college
>The hottest that don't go are really ghetto and dance in strip club
study statistics, clown.

A bootcamp teaching swift is such cancer, it has 1% of market share. I guess they know the audience of their "students" and how to appeal to them though lmao.

Yeah, I guess. I get more money from the university than I pay them, so that's how I look at it.

>quarter-million dollar degree
How can a person waste this much instead of just living with their family and going to the local school?

>Her degree was in Political Science

Not surprising, the Fuck Drumpf market is completely saturated.

It's actually not unrealistic. I have about 95% of an Associates degree and I landed a decent job. Not six figures but a decent salary with benefits and tuition reimbursement so I can finish my BS in engineering for free. No debt because I just paid my $2000 per semester or so for community college out of pocket.

It was a somewhat risky path to take but it worked out okay in the end. I was not fortunate enough to get laid along the way though but that's not important to me anymore.

You guys are talking about attractive girls, that shit is all subjective.
Honestly when I was in college I did notice that the girls were way hotter than high school.
It was interesting to see people get put in perspective.
There were girls I met in college who were the most attractive chicks in their highschools, but on campus they were 6, maybe 7.
College is a disadvantage for them because a lot of foreign girls appear there.

damn son, that is some effervescent observation

udemy classes are at most 30 bucks, why would you pay 30k?

At least some Amerimutts are smart. I study in University of Buenos Aires (100% free tuition) and there are some Americans here (as well as a shitton of Brazilians, Venezuelans, Colombians, Bolivians, etc) that wisened up to the fact that you can travel to some countries and actually study for free cucking Argie taxpayers. I'm talking about a university rated first in South America and in the top 250 of the world (quality changes a lot depending on the field though, STEM and medicine are top tier). All you need is knowing Spanish (and language classes are free too)

Imagine spending 250k USD on a meme degree lmao.
