The tangible benefit of vinyl is that music on it was mixed before the Loudness War, meaning it has full dynamic range.
Even modern music on vinyl can't delve too deeply into the Loudness War without skipping the needle out of the grooves, there's a physical limit to how poorly they can mix an album.

This is not strictly true. Omnifone was going under and Apple purchased some IP or assets, but they weren’t going to keep the store running at a huge loss. Your post implies that Apple bought it for the purpose of shutting it down which is not the case.
