>distributed metadata beyond what torrents have right now for describing the filetype, mediainfo, etc so that you can remove the need for a tracker. it is a solved problem dht with hash of each file. inb4 hash doesn't contain metadata you'll have to verify it either way otherwise the metadata can be tampered with. but you absolutely need a central location that contain the real useful metadata (torrent site) or metadata content is distributed (blockchain of sorts), but it's going to bring it's own set of problems.

My connection has, for some unknown reason, fucked up and no longer seeds. What the fuck am I doing wrong?
I have port forwarded, allowed through firewall etc. Nothing works. I imagine it is something to do with Virgin Media and their shitty tech, but even so.

If I sign up for a trial of pluralsight how can I download the videos to be able to upload them to trackers? Is there any embedded identifiable information in the videos that I need to remove before uploading?
Dylan Sullivan
Idk, will you upload them to bitspyder/learnflakes?
to clarify, I was referring to the first part only. whichever tracker you're on might require you to seed every torrent for at least x hours, read the rules.
Bentley Ramirez
understood i apologized for the amateurish questions I'll check with the rules and admins
That's what I meant. You need a distributed way of distributing the useful metadata that doesn't require a torrent site. Also, it would be nice to have fingerprints on media so that you can distribute those fingerprints and verify that the upload isn't just some correctly hashed and renamed dolphin porn and actually what you're looking for. Trace.moe uses the color layout descriptor of basically every TV anime since 2002 to identify scenes in shows, so an upload can be ran through one of those to hash the upload and verify against a distributed database that what you're uploading is what you claim it to be. Only uploaders will have to bother with that, while the distributors just have to hash their files against a torrent that has been verified with the media fingerprint database.
Nolan Lee
Public announcement of service to all members on the "Orpheus": DO NOT CHARGING YOUR MOBILE WHILE LISTENING THE MUSIC!
Also, this database doesn't have to be created by the pirates either. With deepfakes and AI generated "fake news" being on the horizon, the content creators will submit a fingerprint to a global database of all monetizable content, because consumers aren't going to be paying for content if there's no guarantee that what they're getting is what it says. Then any unauthorized distribution of that content will just use that same fingerprint database to verify its authenticity.
> verify that the upload isn't just some correctly hashed and renamed dolphin porn and actually what you're looking for it's a non issue again, the hash is the fingerprint of file. you cannot change the one without the other. you can add mark here or there to make different hash but adding every countermeasure like fingerprints color layout thingie will not work because you can modify it too and so on and so forth. it's like fighting piracy with DRM, it's always easy to bypass than to protect.
semi-related there are problems with distributed DBs. say you have a ledger of sorts, how do you verify who can change it and redistribute a block, how do you even "moderate" data if everyone's has the copy and entire history of it. who can change it, who can't how do you block others from using it how do you give people access to use it. simply giving access by downloading it is not robust enough. what will happen when size continues to increase.. and that's just on top of my head. adding things that are essential to torrents, like ratio and ul/dl stats otherwise you might as well use the piratebay. there is a lot of mutable state, and defining it in immutable blockchain probably will never work
other than that, even bitcoin can be influenced with high enough number of users in one pool. meaning it's nothing set in stone
you will always need a central authority of sorts, or just completely think of new way of sharing data. IPFS as a concept looks quite interesting, other than that im not really aware of any others.
Blake Nguyen
Try reporting it. It's just spam at this point.
Christopher Ramirez
I don't think you get what I mean at all. The hash doesn't change, sure. But there's no reason why a malicious person couldn't bundle dolphinporn.mp4.exe and rename that file to tvshow#1234.mkv and say in the torrent description that it's actually tv show #1234. Private trackers prevent those things from happening because you need an account to upload to it, and if you upload crap like that you get banned. In a true distributed system that doesn't rely on a single point of metadata failure like a torrent site, you can't really prevent that because anyone can just make a bunch of dupe accounts.
Yes, that's a problem with distributed DBs. Which is why the second part of my post addresses that - because of the problem with deepfakes and AI generating fake news that can be attributed to famous people or whatever, content and news in the future will probably be fingerprinted immediately after it's created. It will be a centralized database with a single source of authority and failure, yes, but you can verify your pirated copies against that database to make sure your pirated copy is legit.
This kind of shit is already done - FLAC CD rips can be verified against AccurateRip and CTDB, and Gracenote (that iTunes uses) can tag your pirated files that you upload to iTunes because it scans the files against their fingerprinted database.
AccurateRip and CTDB require the files to literally be basically exactly the same, which is unnecessary as a consumer of torrents. As a downloader you can just verify that your torrent's hash matches a list of "good rip" hashes for that particular TV show.
Benjamin Powell
For an uploader though, they are submitting a new torrent to the DHT. To get their list in a list of "good rip" hashes they need to prove that they're uploading a quality torrent. Popularity and a distributed consensus algorithm might work, but I'd rather have a guarantee. Fingerprinting what the uploader uploads against a global centralized database is prone to failure if it's a database that (((they))) didn't create themeselves. But just like with Gracenote, (((they))) will eventually create such a fingerprinted database already because it's necessary to fend off the fakes. Then the uploader just has to query against that fingerprinted database and get a signed result to verify that the torrent is quality. Attach that signature into the torrent's metadata, and it will guarantee that what's being uploaded is what the uploader said is being uploaded. No more uploading tv show #3456 or a virus when the uploader says they uploaded tv show #1234.
(((They))) will have to create a fingerprint that is resistant to tampering, which the color layout thing is pretty decent example of. No matter what rip of tv show #1234 it is, whether it be a remux or a yify rip, as long at XX:XX the rip hasn't been tampered with there's like an 80-100% match with the copy that's in the database, which is how you know you're watching tv show #1234 and not tv show #3456 or dolphin porn.
There's been developments with fingerprints like Cinavia which is also an example of a fingerprint that survives lossy transcodes. There's audio ID and content ID fingerprints, which is how Twitch and YouTube know you're uploading copyrighted content no matter what rip you're uploading. Only if you actually change the audio/video substantially from what the original is can you get around that kind of stuff, which defeats the point of piracy since you're trying to get a good unaltered copy of the show to watch for free.

Has someone completed the RPG? I am starting to get into good trackers and was wondering what was the full RPG/Trackers that I should join?
PTP + BTN + HDB is the holy trinity. HDB is very hard to get into though, and is really only useful for flexing
Henry Barnes
What's the point of HDB if you have PTP and BTN?

I "completed" it a couple years ago AB JPS Oppaitime EMP RED GGn PTP BTN BIB HDB RebBit I'm sure some one will meme about AoM but these are or at least were the tops of their respective fields.
I have a question though. Has anything come along in the last couple years? Kind of faded out of here when I completed it but ABs 10th made me curious.

Learn reversing, it's the only proper way. Otherwise you're going to rely on handouts every time they change something.

I would but I only want one thing. It's not for ratio- it's so that I can watch this stuff without the dumbshit restrictions on watching in open source firefox
Landon Wilson
sometimes, and sometimes even on Elite, where a lot of us got in that time.
Connor Gray
what were the requirements when it was on Elite?
Ethan Martinez
>I would but I only want one thing Then it's not worth giving to someone who is just going to use it for one thing. >it's so that I can watch this stuff without the dumbshit restrictions on watching in open source firefox Too bad, go boycott the practice by not supporting whatever shitstain streaming service you wanted to watch this on.
Gabriel Lee
If anyone wants to send me a widevine tool, my email is [email protected]. I'm desperate -- I'll send you the files if you want so you can upload to your favourite tracker for ratio if you'd like.
Leo Howard
What about if I sent someone the .dash file and they sent back the mkv, is that possible? Again, they could upload it to their favourite tracker for ratio.
Aiden Wood
It was like 750mb downloaded and seeding, 1 year, etc. If you look in the archives for "hdb ptp elite" you will see the screenshots we posted.

Where can I find releases from the group "UHDTV"?
Samuel Roberts
They also recruited from BIB at one point.
Jaxon Perez
Instead of begging here you should go to the request threads on trackers. They will give you the option of giving a gift card to them to purchase the video you want. What you're doing now is going to lead you to get scammed.
Lincoln Carter
nobody will do this for you. just go away
Christopher Campbell
Which trackers? I'm not on PTP/BTN/HDB so I don't think anyone on mine have it.

Go crack that shit yourself if you want it so bad. It can't that hard if there are multiple people who could do it. People who say it's almost impossible are idiots who don't know shit about reversing.

Maybe a year ago there was a dude in this thread who offered to upload the jap drama Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan to mega. Are you still out there? I'd love to get my hands on this one, subbed or not I don't care.
