We’re using the ssd as virtual ram

>we’re using the ssd as virtual ram
Wait, wait, wait, hol up
What?
This is a fucking revolutionary breakthrough and is being wasted on a console.
Seriously wtf?
How?

user it's called a swap partition and it's really slow and bad

They announced it upfront so they wouldn't have legal issues like with Nvidia's 3.5gb

just for a paging file
and yeah it's shit. better than swapping to HDD thio

Windows: Swap file, Linux swap partition, ancient shit.

fpbp

/thread, OP is retarded as fuck.

>This is a fucking revolutionary breakthrough
It's a straightforward trick that's been used for several decades.

>revolutionary breakthrough
So revolutionary we have been using it for decades on PCs.

>This is a fucking revolutionary breakthrough
Yeah killing the SSD in record time is pretty revolutionary.

Are you fucking retarded? Its just a single NAND chip used as a cache. Its like running an OS in a RAMdisk, except its a game not an OS. When you start the game it will load the entire game into the flash chip which will probably be a single 32GB module.

Go back to /v/ you stupid fuck.

>it’s a “/v/tard is wowed by a marketing buzzword for something that has existed for decades” episode

this is the tech board, right?

>Its like running an OS in a RAMdisk
Are YOU retarded?

>Its like running an OS in a RAMdisk
it's like... the opposite of this

>I'm a RPG gamer so like... loading screens are a thing...

im guessing you are trying to be ironic but you got blown the fuck out instead

Slow is fine for certain things, it's not replacing the GDDR6 RAM they announced

Jow Forums has been getting a lot stupider

I blame winjeets

>This is a fucking revolutionary breakthrough and is being wasted on a console.
you mean like virtual memory that pcs have had since the mmu in the 80s?

>Have SSD hardwired to the SOC
>Much faster than anything on the market right now
>"Noooooooo, LOOK AT MY 128GB SSD"

Attached: 1559593912388.jpg (800x807, 340K)

>swap part on a ssd
Yeah, let’s commit mem writes to it. That sureky won’t eat through wrote cycles and result in constant RMAs.

>Have SSD hardwired to the SOC
Still way slower than RAM, and this already exists, it's called NVMe
>Much faster than anything on the market right now
No, it isn't at all, you're a retard
DDR4-3200 pushes 25.6 GB/s, an Intel Optane SSD does less than 3 GB/s and that's the fastest on the market right now, this doesn't even account for latency or random r/w performance where the difference becomes magnitudes bigger
As long as it lasts longer than the 1 year warranty this things usually have it's ok, it works for applel why won't it work on retarded manchildren

>>Have SSD hardwired to the SOC
Was bus do you expect them to use, /v/-tard?

Zen 2 has PCIe 4.0, there will be SSDs that can do >5Gbps. Theoretically you can RAID0 that too. DDR3 speeds are feasible.

>it's 2019 and they're announcing products for 2020 that still use swap memory
You know for all the things 10 year old me thought would happen in 1999, this isn't one of them.

you forgot to say

>and the zoomers are eating it up

>Swap partition is revolutionary
Lurk more and learn more newfriend
