Spin it all you want, the fact remains that to use the monitor you need to pay an extra $999 or $199 because the monitor itself has no universal mounting mechanism.
Even if the monitor performs better than reference monitors worth three or four times as much it's a stupid fucking way to market the thing.

It's a 999$ stand for a monitor that would otherwise cost 15-40k; so despite the ridiculous cost of the stand, still a bargain. Also it's not a fucking monitor for suits or code monkeys. It's mean for people who work with video and graphics that require autistic accuracy and the ability to run at 1000 nits for long periods of time.

The stand would be still cheap if it cost as much as the monitor (assuming the monitor is as good as claimed) what difference does it make how they price one piece (that most people won't even need) when it's only necessary for another piece that's very cheap.

They are basically selling an iPhone for 25 bucks and a charger that only works with the said phone for 250 bucks; even if you buy both, you're getting a great deal, why worry about the price of single component.
