Fuck nested comments, they suck. Conversations in real life don't work like that, why should websites work like that? Give every post a number, use links to the number to reply to a post, and an option to toggle nesting and non nesting in case someone wants to follow a conversation after the dust has settled.

If you're going to include post rating, up and downvotes are no good. People need way more low-effort reactions available to them so it's a lot clearer just how the aggregate feels about a post. This should include I agree, You're an idiot, this makes me feel sad, gross, that's hot, good question, informative, dumb question, are you okay, shots fired, nobody cares, and you sure seem upset. Vary the vavaliable options by subsection (simple up and downvotes can work on a humor board, but not other places!)

well.... I was like you, but then I saw that one of the thing I wanted to do - something like dissenter, but not focused on politics was made by people who have more experience than me and then it was attacked and attacked by people who have a political agenda. This whole thing just showed mee that even if you make something like dissenter and market it as a non-politics based platform, politics will fly into it like a plane flies into a building on 9/11 - there will be politics and it will be as popular as it is on Jow Forums - Jow Forums is the biggest board. This means that if you make a platform ffor people to speak you must either go full free speech - which means you lose the lefites and normies or you go full censorship, which means that you still lose a lot of users. All of this means that you cannot make a platform for discussing ideas in a time where everyone is charged with some political opinion.
Basically I am trying to tell you to either work on stuff that are not related to any discussions, or to wait for a time when people are more reasonable ( if you are alive ). You may also focus on other countries / languages if you are not american. Otherwise..... just know that once you solve the technological problem you will face an even bigger problem.

This is not just just the typical problem of moderating a retarded userbase. 8 ch was a good idea on paper but as with any chan offshoot became the colony of Jow Forums refugees too aggressively spastic to be contained here, and eventually other schizophrenics like the Q crowd. Fredrick Brennan basically cannot own a bank account now and I remember him on a livestream flush red with rage because his own userbase was aggressively trying to prevent new users from joining. The only reason it still exists is because it's a vanity project for a corrupt pornographer in the Philippines now, and even recently retards there got a streaming site shut down because for no particular reason they doxed all the administrators and server hosts and sent them cum tributes of their elementary school aged children.

Jow Forums is quite fine as it is. It is a completelg anonymous imageboard which is unfiltered. No nested comments, no likes and dislikes. If you say something stupid, you will get called out on it. This is the true free speech place, unlike Plebbit and others.
