fpbp. This is undeniably the best response to the entire thread. The code is either audited by the community or it isn't. Feel vulnerable? Audit the code yourself. Does this mean you need to audit everything yourself? No.
Information comes out all the time concerning security vulnerabilities and cracks occurring throughout "trusted" companies. I have yet to hear a compelling argument pro-side this.
