Its fashion tech, so youll look more appealing to the normies, otherwise no advantage really.

Absolutely nothing. All of the Autodesk, Adobe, and MS Office software you'd ever need runs on Windows. All the best Unix tools and file systems run on Linux. Windows is easy to pirate and Linux is free. Both run on anything. Linux even runs on low cost low power devices like ARM boards for embedded applications. Macshit offers literally nothing. The hardware it's tied to is also underpowered, overpriced shit that breaks in six months to a year.

Mac OS has shit driver support and only officially boots off of Apple's special snowflake EFI. So you have to use a special bootloader to get it running. Then you'll constantly be patching and fighting your system with every update. Major version update? Fucking forget it, it's reinstall time. Bigger waste of time than Arch or Gentoo.

I own several macbooks and thinkpads, and 1 hp. Here's my opinion:

Pros:
>Professional UNIX environment that runs commercial software
>More secure than windows, but not linux
>Solid design
>Phenomenal battery life compared to others
>Customer service is great
>Can run all of linux's primary software on top of its own
>Convenience within its own ecosystem: iPhone + iWatch + iMac + Macbook + iPad + HomeKit work flawlessly together.
>Can run windows and linux easily
>Develop software for virtually anything
>Display
>Can lock system if stolen
>Long support life for OS

Cons:
>Non up-gradable hardware (ram, ssd are soldered into logicboard)
>Weaker chassis
>Batteries are known to expand and break computer
>Overheats when using chrome or any resource heavy software
>Price is technically more than it's really worth
>Butterfly keyboard
>Touchbar adds nothing of use
>Fanbase and people that hate macs can't stop talking about them

All in all, I like my Macbook pro. I like the 2012 and 2015 models the best. I'm not a fan of the modern models, they're not really as configurable.

My mom gave me her old 2015 macbook air. Let me try to give you the rundown of trying to use it for even the most basic purposes, such as trying to browse the web. Please keep in mind that the design of apple laptops has not changed in the last 4 years, so this applies still today.

I am aware that you can use two fingers to right click. Removing the right click button is still retarded because:

A stable unixlike environment with official support that doesn't need constant maintenance and mostly stays out of your way so you can work. The native OS is optimized to work with the hardware which means a smooth experience even on the lower end hardware. The only real downsides are the retarded prices and games run poorly if at all.

The XPS13/15 lines are good, so is the Lenovo X1 line, as well as the Vaio X1 line back when it was still under Sony.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that directx went almost entirely unchallenged for decades. I keep a windows desktop pretty much entirely for games. I'm a developer, so that's pretty much the only use I have for Windows that can't be handled with wine or a VM.

I have to agree with this. Even it's it's a beat up old / refurbished Mac, you have to have it to (reasonably) make iOS apps. VMs are just not worth it to save the ~300 you could spend on a Mac of some sort that has enough basic functionality. Not like you're going to use it for anything else.
