>Any advice?
Read the fucking OP. I know this is /sqt/, but you're a special kind of retarded, aren't you?

>Good, cheap, laptops?

why doesn't my computer wake from sleep? I move my mouse and press my keyboard but it wont wake up. I have to hard reset my computer using the power button.

I have my power setting so that it is set to "Never go to sleep" and only have the monitor turn off after 10 minutes

Thinkpad

pleb

Do you have a specific model in mind?
Ill consider it if i have no other options

It's like you just post in threads without reading OP's. Do you just walk up to people in conversation and say random words to them as well?
>Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

My computer shuts down to prevent overheating when I use ffmpeg or run a raytracer for long periods (around 12 minutes). I need to it to run for extended periods of time, like I did with a previous setup, but now it just shuts down when thing get too hot (I believe it should not be getting so hot).
The CPU hit 93°C during a controlled test, who knows how high that went when it shut down.
How do I keep it from shutting down? Am I doing something wrong? It's set to balanced mode in the BIOS. My CPU is a 2600x, and the clocks stay at 3800MHz

So if anyone has a laptop recommendation and doesnt care about an eastern zimbabwe basket weaving forum's general thread politics im all ears

>For the Ryzen 5 1600, AMD disabled one core from each of the two CCX units, resulting in a six-core chip.
Why? It's got 8 core, but why only allow it to use 6?

also
>Each individual core in a CCX can be disabled and doesn't share anything with its neighboring core except for an 8 MB block of L3 cache.
Does that mean they be re-enabled for a 25% increase?

Attached: dieshot.jpg (2398x1053, 1.29M)

anyone know a safe way to pick up an ult windows 7 iso distro? /t/ doesnt have software threads anymore.

Disabled cores usually defective.

OP link should probably still have seeders.

Plex

Cheap processors are usually expensive ones that are damaged in some way. Like the titanic's sealable sections if they had worked. Every once in a while they don't have enough busted ones to meet demand and they'll neuter a few good ones, and even more rarely the processes is reversible. One of the big changes in next gen is that they can throw out just the parts that are bad, which helps bring down prices.

How to make the native mobile Jow Forums extension open all images as the desktop version and not the mobile image? Shit's blurry with the tailing "m" in the url and manually removing it every time is a pain in the dick.

Recommend me some good dds viewer. I need to view also mipmaps.

wow, my whole post was nuked by gookmoot because I'm on Jow Forums unprotected and got hostile scripted by an ad

read a bit of the link, it says I need to install windows using mbr. wont that interfere with my uefi bios? I would like to dual boot both windows 7 and the truncated 10 if at all possible, but it says you straight up cant activate it that way.

You can install both 7 and 10 in MBR mode, as long as you set your bios to legacy mode first. You can also activate both with KMS emulators in UEFI mode, as long as you use pro instead of ultimate. But unless you're planning on using 7 exclusively offline, I wouldn't bother. It's just too damn much risk of malware after this year.

I have a thousand threads in 4chanX's Thread Watcher starting from like four years ago, does that impact the browser's performance in any way?

is it really that bad? It seems to me like windows might be pumping out malware just to push more people into 10. something ate my previous installs registry and I wanted to sniff it out with hotfix, and figured windows 10 probably wasn't that stable and was going back to 7 primarily.

I have about 8 "reserve" porn tabs stored, I don't want to leave the PC on forever though, is there any way I can save them or something?

>It seems to me like windows might be pumping out malware just to push more people into 10
They've definitely not made it easy to stay on 7, but they don't need to go writing malware. 10 years is a goddamn eternity in OS time. The defense and offense have had multiple generations of escalation, and even with the patches 7 is rather weak by now. That new ransomware exploit that's being hailed as wannacry 2 only applies to 7 and older, because the practices they implemented in 8 were enough to prevent it. It's gonna be fucking brutal next year, even with Common Sense 2020.

The main thing with 10 is having a good strategy for delaying Feature Upgrades till they're solid. Good news is MS just fixed that with 1903, so you can set it to not upgrade until your current one is out of support.

Is there any reason at all to go education over ltbc/alphabet soup? My instinct is to go to the latter just because of the stability issues with activation alone.

LTS cookie cuts out little things that 100% of legitimate users are expected to have. A photo viewer, sticky notes, some integrated video components. There are some things that are technically an "app", but don't require making a microsoft account. And you can't keep your programs/settings if you decide to upgrade from LTS to regular later. EDU lets you turn off anything you wouldn't want easily. There shouldn't be any difference in activation. If anything, LTSC is the only thing that doesn't work with HWIDgen, not that I'd recommend that.

kms 38 works on ltsc

>HWIDgen
>A photovier
the base photo viewer is ass
>sticky notes
couldn't hundreds of programs do this?
>integrated video components?
what are these exactly?
>edu lets you turn off anything you don't want
it says in the guide that it doesn't let you turn off as much telemetry as LTSC
>hwidgen
Not sure what this is either.

There's no shortage of KMS emulators. What I was saying is that LTSC is it says in the guide that it doesn't let you turn off as much telemetry as LTSC
It does not say that. It specifically says they are the same.

The point I'm getting at is that LTS is designed to only work on ATMs and shit, not to be a daily driver, so there's shit missing and you never know if you'll need it for something, you might not even know that LTS is what's fucking you up. Virtually everyone who has windows does have those features, and is within 2 years of the current feature upgrade. It can be problematic being in that small userbase exclusively inhabited by piraters. It's caused issues with GPU drivers in the past.

What's the difference between MAME, FB Alpha and MESS?

I'm trying to extracts the contents of a mobile game to play with some texture and sound files. I've managed to backup the app on my computer in .ab format and extract it so I can view the files. The only problem is--the majority of the individual files are in their own .ab format. I'm unable to extract them, if that's even what's needing to be done, using the same method. Do they need a file conversion?

Everything I'm able to find online in regards to the .ab extension is only related to the backup/extraction of the app as a whole, not the individual files.
What's a better place to ask this? I very rarely use forums or places like reddit, especially related to mobile apps.
What causes this shit? I have 16gb of memory, yet it's not enough to run a browser and register mouse clicks. Is M$ ashamed of the performance of some of their processes so keep it off the task manager list?

Many of my laptop keys are either jammed and wont work unless I mash them hard a few times, or don't work at all. Is this a problem I can fix myself with replacement keys or do I need to take it to a shop?

This may or may not be related to another problem I have where my laptop has an oval shade on the screen that won't go away, that happened either in shipping or when I fell over while it was in my bag.

are you seriously unaware of browser bookmarks
what the fuck

The keys on keyboards don't come off or anything so you can't clean it. You can buy a replacement keyboard however, and swap it out yourself.

Doesn't keep my position on infinite scroll pages.

you should have specified that you need to save the position.
i don't think you can keep the position on infinite scroll pages without keeping the tabs open.

Wow. That keyboard looks good. Model?

Any way to trick a server that sets download speeds per IP not per session other than running a set of proxy chains? I'm sitting on a 1gbit internet downloading videos with DSL speeds this is sick and cancer.

Will my DDR2 ram sticks work on modern motherboard?

I'm looking for a distro to use on a HTPC, I would like to have a web browser and torrent in extra, anyone knows a good one?

Can I set a default download location for youtube-dl on linux?

I don't know, but those 7's definitely work on me.

First, you should really check if your CPU cooler is mounted correctly, and second, check whether it reliably supports a 95W TDP CPU, especially when you went with a cheap one and are living in a warmer climate.

Noice. Do you know what model your motherboard and processor is? If not, open Start and type 'dxdiag' without quotes.

In my work computer I'm getting this in Pale Moon and Firefox, both are updated and the box to use HTML5 whenever possible is checked in youtube.com/html5, but in my home computer it just werks. What gives?

Does the wattage on a UPS also apply to the surge-protect only outlets?

I assumed it didn't. But when looking at regular surge protectors they often brag about how they can protect devices up to 1kW or something weird. So now I'm confused about the surge protect only ports on UPS units.

I want to buy a basic ~300W UPS, then plug a NAS that unit that I ordered into it once it arrives.

But I'd also need to plug in my portable AC (Air Conditioning) unit once in a while since I'd no longer have any free ports on my wall. I assumed that wouldn't be a problem if I just plugged it into one of the UPS outlets that don't have battery protection.

Yet buying the UPS, then plugging a 1000W AC unit into a 300W thing containing a lead battery, "just to test if it works", doesn't seem like the kind of thing I'd want to do.

The unit is an Eaton 3S 550VA/300W if that helps.

Yeah, just did a research and turns out it can't be done. It's not for my current board, I was thinking of building a new PC to replace my old one, but since money is tight, I decided to replace the parts that can be interchangeable first. So far I bought the monitor first, and thinking to bought the next part. Was meant to buy a new motherboard since it's the heart of a PC and use the other old parts on it first till I save enough money. But turns out DDR2 3 and 4 have different sockets.
Thanks for the replies, anyway.

github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl#configuration

You can in youtube-dl-gui.

Where can I get free software for Mac?
i.e. Jetbrains stuff, Photoshop etc.

Why did you buy the most overpriced piece of shit if you don't have the money to buy the software for it?

Hi, I can't access to the BIOS of my computer. When I turn on the computer the first part with the letters and the "Press F2" part doesn't appear. The screen is turn off and only turns on when the windows screen shows up. I disabled the quick start to see if then the first part shows up but it didn't work. I also tried to access through the Windows 10 settings. There is a way to go to the UEFI/BIOS through Windows settings. But it didn't work either. Then I tried pressing Del when the monitor was still turn off and it looks like it access to the BIOS interface but the screen keeps turned off and I have to turn off the computer manually because it doesn't do anything more.

Why I can't acces the BIOS interface like in the past just waiting for the first part of the start to show up and press Del, F2 or whatever other key? Is this something related to Windows 10?

I'm teaching myself C using "The C Programming Language" and I'm using Visual Studio 2019 but when I run my program to count/print blanks/tabs/newlines (chapter 1.5.4) it doesn't seem to use printf?? I just get a new line. What's wrong with my VS?

Attached: 99vy9gtsuqr01.png (966x662, 958K)

>Is this something related to Windows 10?
Yes. Try turning your computer on without the CMOS battery and/or the reset BIOS pin set.

What the fuck? I have to take off the battery of the BIOS to just access to the bios interface?

I''m not going to do that anyways but there must be another way to do this simple thing.

What the absolute fuck is going on here? It was already failing to install language features before, but after upgrading to 1903, I just can't update anything anymore. Everything just hangs.
Dism/sfc say everything is fine, and an in-place reinstall changed literally nothing. Found some winupdate reset .bat, also didn't do shit.
I really don't want to reinstall again, this one is just barely two months old.

Attached: w10.png (635x405, 16K)

Mate, this isn't related to your problem, but I "messed" the configuration in AMD control panel (one fucking option I don't remember which one) and as my monitor didn't support the video mode it showed nothing, I had to boot into safe mode. But guess what? Microsoft removed the option in Windows 10 to boot into safe mode by pressing F8, and the only way is in Windows start-up options. The only way was getting another fucking monitor just to change the setting back to what it was. Windows 10 is fucking shit.

It gives you startup repair if you reset 3 times in a row. Still retarded as fuck.

I don't know how many times I restarted it trying to boot into safe mode, I don't know if it even got to startup repair. Fuck Microshit.

Install gentoo.

Can you install apps on chrome for android?

Can you not buy a $5 power board, plug that into the wall, then run your UPS & whatever else off that? Ive never seen a power board not rated for the same amperage as the mains fuses (10A 240V where i live)

You can't even install extension on android's chrome.

do I need to initialize every list in python before I can use them?
a = [1, 2, 3]
b = []
for i in a:
b.append(i)
print(b)

Try running your code in an online C compiler first, it probably will use GCC or clang and won't introduce the complexity of ensuring you have your VS solution & project configured correctly, eg console app, entrypoint, included libs, etc.
If you still have problems, paste the code & errors.

But how is it possible that I can't see the first part with all the numbers and the logo of the manufacturer, etc. before the Windows part? Why the monitor is turned off during that first part?

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Sad. I installed adblock on firefox on my android phone and my mom asked me to install it for her, but she uses chrome.

Man, I feel stupid writing this, but here we go.
Would a video look better on my laptop if I reduce the screen resolution so it doesn't need to "stretch" as much in full screen?

So the CMOS battery is the battery of the BIOS?

youtube.com/watch?v=iNw-D7GEWQw

I thought you were talking about those mobage apps. You could use kiwibrowser instead, it's a chrome fork which allows extensions to be installed. But idk how Jow Forums approved it is (regarding privacy or whatevs).

The resolution of the video is bigger than the resolution of your screen?

What happens if I don't actually pay my eBay seller fees over an item I sold?
I can just unhook my paypal from the account, will they be able to fuck me?

Yes.

I've seen this one time, don't remember what motherboard. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the power from your HDD/SDD.

No, the opposite.

I have some stupid question about reinstalling windows.
Recently my CPU is getting raped by some stupid fucking processes like "WMI Provider Host" and some other fucking thing.

I've been told the only way to fix that is to reinstall windows, and if it's not please tell me.

Anyways; questions:
1. How does one go about reinstalling something like an OS?
2. Will me files all be there or do I need to somehow make a backup? Like if I just reinstalled it the way it is, would shit all need to be reinstalled, like Adobe, Steam, etc.
3. Is it actually worth it? Yeah the processes are annoying but they only stick around for like the first 5 or so minutes the computer is on.

I think that for the moment I'm not going to risk anything disconnecting the CMOS battery or whatever. I will look up if other options are possible to access the BIOS.

Put anything that you want to keep in an external HDD. Then it would be good if you have a CD or download the drivers or the computer. And then you have to download a Windows and install it from a pendrive.

>stupid fucking processes like "WMI Provider Host"
This is a Windows service, even if you reinstall Windows, you'll still have this same process. If there is something wrong with your system, try to fix it without reinstalling Windows, you'll probably fuck up everything up, even though it's the easiest thing to do.

If you want to reinstall, yes, you need to backup your data to a external drive like said. And yes, you'll have to install all of your shit afterwards (Adobe, Steam, Gay Pornhub, etc).

You don't risk anything by doing it. The worse that can happen is Windows won't boot up, but you'll have access to the BIOS/UEFI menu to fix that.

I think knoppix does.
Would you still be watching full screen? Because then it would probably look slightly worse. The screen is still the same resolution, but now you're sending it a lower resolution and it'll use its build in scaler to scale it to the screen's resolution (or somewhere in your laptop at least). If use the native resolution you can let your media player decide the scalers, which can be better.
If you're asking about watching the video in the native resolution without going full screen, then it's debatable.

I worked on my project but I fucked up. Since I expected that I didn't commit the changes, so repo still contains working code. How can I revert local copy back to what is on the repo? Is simple "git pull" enough?

How do you suggest I fix it? I'm willing to try all alternatives and consider reinstallation to be the final solution.

yes

Hi there Jow Forums, I have a stupid question for you. I tried asking /sci/ but they're all a bunch of faggots and they wouldn't give me an answer. Here goes:

What is a good resource for studying blockchain shit? I'm primarily interested in cryptographic methods. btw I'm a mathematics undergrad and I already know some abstract algebra shit and crypto shit. I am interested in this one specific application.

ask

That's controlled by a BIOS setting. You need to set up wich devices can wake the machine from a Sx state.
If this happens on a laptop, idk what the fuck is wrong with it, it's supposed to be hardcoded on it's BIOS

pic related is my BIOS settings, it makes the kb/mouse can't wake my PC but allow Wake-on-Lan

Attached: IMG_20190618_101200.compresed.jpg (4032x3024, 3.58M)

as said, check the cooling solution is properly installed (decent thermal paste, is well mounted -> not too loose but not too tight, there's no stupid shit like plastic labels, etc)

also, what temps you have on idle and doing mid-intensive tasks? what cooler are you using?

here is my PSU ratings for the rails
it says 62A is the max for one 12V rail.
My CPU sits on 52A which is within the limit.
But my GPU is fed with a single 8pin, and the rating for 12V as I remind you is 62A.
What it actually is 180W at 1.212V, so 148.5A
So, uhhh, should I be worried?
Since even two 12V would only give 124A.

For that matter I am getting a vega 64 soon, which is 250-300W at 1-1.2V which gives us around 250A.
And the bloody thing is only supplied by two eight pins, which supply 150W each and 62A on each rail.
So what gives, is my math wrong, is my pc going to burn down?
why doesn't it add up neatly like it does with the CPU voltage/current/voltage?

When I plug in my External Hard Drive on my Windows 10 Laptop, it will work fine, my files will be there
But seemingly on random, Windows Explorer will completely crash while I have the drive plugged in. Everything becomes unusable, task manager will even begin freezing, if I do anything that uses Explorer, it will just crash and I either have to kill Explorer, or restart completely. I think once it happened without the drive in, but it's usually only when the drive is in.

Is this a sign my hard drive is dying, or just a sign Windows 10 is shit?

Attached: 1554099409840.png (307x361, 230K)

i have 4 nf-a14 (3 intake, 1 exhaust) and they are loud as shit, way a lot louder under load than my phanteks fans. i set them as quiet in my bios (i have an asus board) but they are still loud. can i do anything or am i fucked?

restart explorer in task manager

task manager hangs when you open it, sometimes I get away with it but other times it turns everything to shit.
Yesterday I unironically had pic related happening on Windows 10 as a result. It''s not the specs. Just wondering if it's a Hard Drive issue or Windows one. I've already ran chkdsk.

Is my hard drive dying?

How do you enable BLAS automatically in matlab?
