Dont listen to anyone, Install ubuntu. just get a pendrive make a 2 partition install linux on the second one.

yu are going to use it and like it. problem is you are going to stop using windows(the botnet paranoia will hit also everything is free in here).

eventually you will get rid of windows. problem is its kind of messy having 2 partitions ... remember that old pendrive? yeah use it to shift the linux partition to be the first one (it was windows) and grow it to take the whole drive.
