Let's do something together, the entire board

Let's find a project and contribute, or make a project ourselves. Unite and produce.

Kill yourself nigger

I'll make the logo

Logofags will be banned, the project has officially no logo

Let's make it in haskell.

Get serious for a minute. Let's fork suckless surf and incorporate ublock origin or https everywhere for it.

I already am a major contributor to an open source project.

Maybe try Reddit lololol

>github
Go away slave

I already have my own project

Which one?

They said they prefer memes and consumer videos and to come here to the pros.

Better contribute to free software projects.

Too many personal projects. Too many plans. Too little time.

>implying there's a difference
Free software is open source, open source is free software. Anyone claiming otherwise is a corporate jew, where the source isn't actually "open".

wlroots, the wayland compositor library.

>suckless surf
Fuck that shit. Let's make NetSurf great!

Nice.

There are two important differences, though. Free-as-in-freedom is ironically not necessarily free-as-in-price, while open source would be. Open source licensing terms do not have to be free-as-in-freedom, so you can make it available to all people but still legally restrict the code's application.

Can I see your source code? I've been shy to contribute.

toktok

Sure, as long as we use GPLv3 and not some cuck license

github.com/swaywm/wlroots
Are you talking about what I specifically contributed or just the whole thing?

based

You personally.

>GPLv3
AGPLv3 or fuck off.

Most things graphics related, which includes most of backend/drm/, backend/session/, render/, and I also did a good chunk of backend/x11/ and the build system.

Thanks

you must be new here, no one can actually write meaningful code in Jow Forums it's just a bunch of uni rejects weebs

>so you can make it available to all people but still legally restrict the code's application.
No

opensource.org/licenses

Their definition is one interpretation, which isn't the same is how people like Stallman define the term.

AGPL places restrictions on usage and is thus non-free.

If you ever want help getting started (this applies to all projects, not just wlroots), join the IRC channel and ask, which is #sway-devel on freenode.
It's been a while since we've had anyone new, and development has slowed down somewhat, but there is still a lot to do.

Neither is GPL. It places restrictions on binary distribution and thus usage.

I have never contributed to any open source project, ever. How does one learn the codebase before contributing?

Distribution isn't usage.

>Their definition is one interpretation,
No

>which isn't the same is how people like Stallman define the term.
Wrong

All of the licenses listed are free licenses (as in, they respect the four freedoms as defined by FSF). The reason why Stallman doesn't like them is because they aren't copyleft.

You can't execute it without getting a hand on the binary.

Are you retarded?
Acquiring the binary is not the same thing as distributing it to others.

Acquiring is just the complementary action to distribution.

>just
Yeah, it's literally the inverse. So what's your point?

Welp I don't know what I was expecting. Thanks anyway Jow Forums.

You can't have one without the other.

Yeah, you can. I can take your virginity any time, but I can't give it away, can I?

This is just more general advice, not specific to wlroots:

Start in a very small, specific place. Trying to wrap your head around the entire complexity of a project at once would be overwhelming.
Also, start small. Your first contributions are likely to be very minor; probably only being a couple of lines.
Over time as you get more familiar with things, you can branch out into more areas and make bigger changes.

Also, don't be "afraid" of review or be intimidated by the already established developers. They don't see reviewing your changes or answering questions as wasting their time; it's part of being part of an open source project, and is required for it to remain healthy.

Nice projecting.

I always thought the board is blue because the visitors in the working hours.
Then why is this a blue board actually?

Regardless, you get the point. I can literally acquire anything I want, without ever needing to give it away.

And it's also a diversion, the GPL doesn't place restrictions on giving away the original. It places restriction on giving away derivatives, in that you also need to provide the source for your modifications.

Being safe for work doesn't necessarily mean that you need to be at work.

I already have a Reverse Engineered game engine project on GitHub that has a nice following.

Link?

Thanks you *literally* saved my internship. HAHAHAHA

Fine for services, for the rest, GPL is still ok.

..do you unironically need a logo?

Heh, obviously you're going to try and rip me/my idea off somehow.
Enjoy RE'ing the rest of the engine/formats yourself, it's an absolute disaster ;)

>Cuck license
Give it back Theorone (the Unix code)

>How so?
You got cucked, as they say

>You got cucked, as they say
And how exactly am I going to get cucked by sharing my freely available project that's been on GitHub for 3 years on Jow Forums for the umpteenth time?

gnu.org/licenses/gpl-violation.en.html

But neither GPL or AGPL have any restrictions on usage.

AGPL forces you to redistribute modified versions' source when you use them. GPL never forces you to do anything as long as you merely use it, as opposed to distribute binaries.

Neural net that automatically shops bulges onto the panties of cute girls.

Attached: 1558774018069.jpg (960x1008, 139K)

That isn't a restriction, it's a requirement to do something. A restriction would be "you aren't allowed to do "

How about requiring you to pay if you were to use it? Is that also not a restriction?
Could've just as easily said "you aren't allowed to use modified AGPL software unless you distribute the source".

>Is that also not a restriction?
No and in fact that is allowed by the license. You can charge money for people to access your sever even if it's running AGPL software.

let's join this server, here we can plan shit properly

You're being summoned Jow Forums
>>Jow Forums217411203

98% of Jow Forumstards cannot haskell

IPFS Hashes are considered spam here. But here's the project you should all work on:
Free yourselves from jewish shackles.

please go back to larping about da joos on you fucking boomer. nypa

I hate blockchain, I jsut wanna make desktop apps like surf idk maybe a game

You cannot prove this with closed source programs. Nice try.

>user mysteriously manages to write 100000 working lines of code in 2 days after struggling with fizzbuzz for months
nope not suspicious at al

if we wanted to be productive we wouldn't be here in the first place

>You cannot prove this with closed source programs. Nice try.
We can if the disassembly is similar. The code is extremely specific and written in a way that'll emit specific code. Not everyone is as retarded as you are.

I'm not sure if you're , but either way I have no idea what you'd have to gain from this in your """internship""". Enjoying being a plagiarist. Either way, my colleagues and I have sunk 4+ years into documenting the engine and formats, and considering you'd need to steal to get anywhere, I seriously doubt you'd have the capacity to work anything out for yourself.
Nice try though.

Yeah, it's not going to look suss to employer either.

>user's been struggling for weeks. Oh, he's just written 3500 lines of C++, using template metaprogramming
Absolutely ebin.

i think he does user, make a cute butterfly logo

hahahaha ok virgin

this. fuck, I cant write shit in haskell and i work in the industry. Also, 90-95% of Jow Forumsentoomen cant even code above hobbyist level. No, building dwm with a custom config from the source is not in fact "real programming".

Awesome project and top-notch work, user. I love the Silent Hill series so it's great to see someone still doing something with those games since current-year Konami sure as fuck isn't going to.

And don't let the brainlet get to you. I sincerely hope he does try to pass your project off as his own work so he gets utterly exposed when asked to explain anything about the code.

Attached: q2YOwbwLFbg.jpg (1350x900, 156K)

Absolutely marvelous cope.

github.com/serenityOS/serenity/ tbqh

What happened to that browser that Jow Forums was making?

let's make a Jow Forums clone

Im in

>Absolutely marvelous cope.
And where exactly is the cope, brainlet? Do you not understand how a computer works?

Cheers user, so do I. This actually started after I learned about how bad the HD collection was, and that Konami lost the source for SH3. They have no backups either.. Feel free to open a PR if you know C++ at all.

>And don't let the # brainlet get to you. I sincerely hope he does try to pass your project off as his own work so he gets utterly exposed when asked to explain anything about the code.

If someone can learn from my code and help them, then good. But I sincerely hope he doesn't plagiarize because as you said, attempting to explain it at all with be extremely difficult. That and I dont want some dodgy conpany gutting my code and using it.
