What the fuck happened and why is digital drawing so behind the times?

Small market.

You can learn to draw with a fucking pencil and a notebook, tools do not make the artist.

That's beside the point, I already know how to draw, I just wish there were more affordable options for digital drawing on a screen. Hell the iPad Pro wouldn't even be so bad if you could use Sidecar with something other than a Mac.

Just buy an ancient Wacom and install Windows 7 retard.
They're dirt cheap compared to "MUH SHINY NEW PC TABLETS" and unlike lagPads, those never get slowed down with lagOS malware updates.

Just get a used iPad Pro 10.5, still has the 120hz screen for much cheaper

>lagPad

Just poo in loo iJeet.

There are no serious drawing programs on it, only the new Pros are getting the full Photoshop. Sidecar only works on Macs so there goes the affordability.

Use Samsung note or buy surface pro
I don't see a problem there

Look on ebay. Look for used Wacoms. There's a reason why you can't find any, because they are built to last, and use standard x86 allowing them infinite lifespans. When you build high end products, you get to demand high end prices.

This isn't always the case, like with iShit that commands high prices for lowest bottom of the barrel trash where the OS shits itself after 2 updates and loses 80% performance, but Applel are the exception to the rule.

This
I'm still using the Note 10 2014 and it still works wonderfully with lineage roms
Once this broke down I'd just get the Tab S3

you don't need a fucking screen you entitled little shit.

You know of huion and xp-pen, right?
You give up 4k screens and barrel rotation but you're paying 400 bucks instead of 1000+

the latest gen ipad (not pro) is pretty good with the pencil apparently

>shitty iPad Pro
shitty?

Windows sucks.

Still better than the unusable shitheap that is lagOS.

Fuck off, winjeet.

Same, that Note Tab still shines on 4 years later for me and it's a pity Samsung will never make something like this again with the freedom to flash

Non-laminated displays are no different than tablets with no displays

Back to your shitting street iJeet.

i have the 2018 ipad pro 11" with the pencil 2. it's decent overall though not as good as a standalone tablet. my problem with it is the software. if you want to use clip studio paint, you can't just buy it, you need to pay a monthly fee. fuck that. i bought procreate (op's pic), which is decent, but doesn't come even close to the desktop clip studio paint (not sure how the ipad version compares, not falling for jewish tricks).

maybe someday krita will be available on ipads, i dunno

well not ALL of them

honestly for digital drawing wacom is the industry standard, dont go the ipad route because its an expensive toy, not sure why you want cintiq, instead of cheap intous, seeing your drawing on a large computer monitor is superior to cintique

eh my gf likes it and prefers it over a drawing tablet because she says tablets with no displays feel too detached

My $250 huion tablet is full HD which is a more than fair for a 9" unit, and it has brush tilt (which I don't use). Wacom is Apple of tablets - not complete dogshit features wise but utter overprice.

Go locate a toilet, Rakesh.

yikes

This. I'm using an xp-pen 12 and i'm happy with it. Used to draw on an ipad pro but the lack of good drawing software made me switch

Thanks Jow Forums, I think I'm just going to go with a used Wacom or Surface and clean install 7, I don't want to get an iPad that will get slowed down with updates and become a brick.

You can get sort of used to drawing on an input only tablet but display tablet drawing is superior and natural, much easier to do, and you can actually use software's GUI which alone is a huge plus.

i dont think even ipad pros are good enough for an artist to use for that purpose are they? there are several things in the drawing tablets that make them better than a random ipad tablet

Apple has the monopoly on street shitters iJeet.

This thread made me pull out my dusty x201 thinkpad tablet to test out the drawing.

H1B unequivocally means indians or chinks, and chinks stopped coming here after huawei and etc stole enough IP to set up home shop.

It's impossible to win both the monitor lottery and the tablet lottery at the same time. I went through six (6) Huion tablets trying to find one that didn't have a dead pixel or broken whatever the fuck reads the pen without a massive delay. Every eBay listing for Cintiqs have people trying to scam you selling an HD as a Pro and buying this things new is absurd as its literally $1,000 for the smallest tier. I hate this gay world.

Imagine being a streetshitting iJeet.

Can you fuck off? Yes Indians and Apple are terrible but that's not what the thread is about.

I tried both and I actually prefer input only tablet, simply not having your drawing covered by pen/hand/palm, and having freedom to literally hold the tablet and be in almost any position is superior in my opinion, the screen tablet you must have in front of you, most often you are hunched down and good part of it is covered by hand.

>not in the US
>literally zero used tablets in my country
>importing adds a 50% tax on anything I could order online
>local store has the budget Cintiq 16 for $1000
>also has the 11 inch iPad Pro also for $1000 (Pencil 2 for $250)
>also has the regular 9.7 2018 iPad for $350 (Pencil for $150)

I feel like there are no winning moves here. The last option seems like the only one where I don't get overjewed, but I need professional grade software that can interface with PCs, and there's nothing like that for the regular iPad.

if you a such an important professional then invest in high end cintiq because this is literally your profession and you will likely earn money, use the tools that will maximize your potential or if you are just full of shit get an intous and use with any software you want, if you are a faggot buy an ipad

pencil and paper + cheap scanner

welp, I guess you're fucked

Imagine being so BTFO you refuse to reply to me.
It’s okay, I’ll point you in the right direction.
I will never stop destroying you Andreets.

I'm not a professional but I'd like my hobby drawing to be on a professional level, I'm already used to regular Photoshop and a screenless tablet, and the only next step would be regular Photoshop with a laminated display tablet, which honestly should be the standard. The "hobby" grade hardware and software are treated like toys, it's a joke, no one would seriously spend time trying to make them "work".

Looking on Amazon, I'm finding some impressive looking graphics tablets available for anywhere from $50 to $200. They're off-brand, but reviews say they work. Consider buying off-brand or second hand devices.

This one seems particularly impressive for the price:
amazon.com/XP-PEN-Artist12-Battery-Free-Multi-Function-Sensitivity/product-reviews/B07GNK18VJ/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_show_all_top?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews

This one works even better for the price if you decide you don't need to draw on a screen:
amazon.com/Huion-Graphics-Drawing-Tablet-Board/product-reviews/B00TB0TTAC/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_show_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews

They aren't off brand, they're chink brands, they're good but you should ask

OR
>dropping a few hundreds for 2nd hand cintiq
>dropping a few hundreds for chinkwares pen display
>dropping a few hundreds for a cheap Windows tablets
>dropping $60 for an Intuos
>dropping a few bucks for a 2nd hand Intuos
>dropping a few bucks for a a chinkware pen tablet
Being poor is not even an excuse anymore.

its quite simple, you want screen? you go with cintiq or go home.

I used to do all three (paper, tablet and screen) and I think I like paper the best except it's super easy to fuck up the drawing just by touching it or in million other ways, and there's no way to unfuck it. So for this practical reason I accept screen as a better alternative. Normal tablet creates a disconnect between drawing and seeing it, you can get used to it as I said but it'll never be really good. Having part of the screen covered is literally a non issue, it's the same shit with paper anyway and you can (and should) just flip the canvas or rotate it to any angle anyway. If your tablet isn't grounded to a steady platform, it's because you're a shit artist and not at the level where wobbly canvas makes your art look any worse than it already is. I guess with digital your can just redo your squiggly fucked up strokes until you get a passable one but that still means you suck at it.

>several grand on a shitty Cinitiq
The cintiq 16 (non-pro) is fucking awesome only costs $650
