Is there any reason to update or is this + 2500k still the best combo?

Sure there's plenty of reasons.
But also plenty of reasons not to.

Entirely depends on you and your use case, use your brain, that's all I can say.

depends on whether or not you want to play newer AAA titles

Power consumption and features/instruction sets. Friend of mine just went from a core2duo and Radeon 3850 to an i5-9400f and Radeon RX570. He does more programming and watching anime than anything, but the GPU is there for when he gets the urge to play something. He's been wanting to play a lot of Minecraft and Deep Rock Galactic lately. All comes down to what you want your PC to do.

If anything, if your current specs are still OK for your use case, you could always go the low power route. I.e a GT1030 probably spanks that 8800GTX.

Talk about mixing generations.

An i5 2500k + 5870 could still get by.

>upgrading is for goys, my old ass setup is still going strong, runs games just fine at 720p/30fps, tfw didn't fall for the 60fps meme

i don't think i could live with an 8800 gt but i just replaced my 6950 because i couldn't get 60 fps in counter strike anymore and wanted to play stalker on max settings so im not exactly one to talk

I remember having to upgrade from a 9800gtx+ oc just so I could play Starcraft 2 smoothly

If you've made it to 2019 with a 8800 GTX and don't feel the need to upgrade, then no, there probably isn't any reason for you to do so.

uhhhhh is this pic correct?

>Is a 2006 GPU and a 2011 CPU still the best combo?
When was it ever? Did you mean to say 8800 GT and Q6600?

Are integrated graphics better than an 8800 yet?

Probably. It's only 640% faster in actual games according to TPU, with a fairly high margin of error considering that they were never tested on any of the same games.

Maybe he just uses it because the 2500k doesn't have integrated graphics.

yep

And if we're pulling AMD into the mix...

That's pretty old to pair with a 2500k.

Holy kek. Intel integrated graphics kicks its ass.

Just get a used 570 OP, you can find it on ebay for under $90

Is the pattern that's lighting Femanon's face the SOS signal?

idk measure it

Oof
O O F

>Maybe he just uses it because the 2500k doesn't have integrated graphics.
It does, though.

>this + 2500k
was never the best combo, newfag

q6600 and a 8800 was kino, but u could get away with it and a 920 back then too.

but if u were still on a 8800 by the time sandy bridge rolled by u was just not in the hobby anymore.

id say 2500k + a 570 or a 5770/5850 as more par for the course back then

>newer aaa
Are there any good ones?

No.

i cannot think of a good game that was released after 2012.

>i cannot think of a good game that was released after 2012.
kingdom come deliverance

Can you even watch HD videos on that piece of crap anymore?

>Can you even watch HD videos on that piece of crap anymore
seeing how my 280x struggles with 1440p vids from YT, i would say "no"

Wasteland 2
Divinity: Original Sin (+2)
Pillars of Eternity
