I’m traveling right now so I brought my Sony ICF 2010. It has a decent speaker, RF gain, FM/AM/SSB/Sync, and an AF filter.

Much better than the Chinese garbage on the market these days.

What's so great about Audio Research?

probably house sound
incredibly expensive

meh:

"Given the Reference 110's dual-mono construction, with each channel's audio circuitry carried on its own board, I was surprised to find that the channel separation at 1kHz was 85dB (L–R) and 96dB (R–L), decreasing by another 10dB at 50kHz.

The wideband, unweighted signal/noise ratio (ref. 2.83V into 8 ohms, 8 ohm tap) was good rather than great at 79.5dB... noise at the frequency extremes that is affecting the unweighted result."

all this for $10K

Tube geeks only

Well, I think I did a good job on them and they sound wonderful. I just need to get stands for them

Looks good. What kind of glue did you use?

Your spam thread is always shit and you should feel bad.

I used the glue that came with the kit from simply speakers

that's that butyl rubber stuff?

the surround is polyether foam they say but it feels rubber-ish. the glue is toluene, hexane, and I think rubber curing agent?

I tried this on my Allison 4's and fucked it up bad.

don't those hiss also

I already have other speakers so not so much for music as for desktop. A little hiss wont bother me.

now playing:

I wish they didn't have the gloss on them but they work well. They don't hiss, that's a meme with the first hardware version.

i thought all lower end/ lower cost powered monitors will have a high noise floor

If you turn the any amp up all the way with a low input signal you'll always have a lot of distortion. I think that's a mistake people make with monitors, they turn them up all the way then feed a low signal into them. It's better to have monitors turned down to half or less volume with a strong input signal to the monitors.

How does this look?

not sure if these are meme speakers
