Does Nemo provide its on filepicker? Doesn't it just use the GTK one? KDE is leagues ahead in this regard but I don't like KDE.
Just open a file browser window and drag the file you want in.

It has been stable since ever. I'm using it from like 2013.

The smooth as butter window dragging and resizing on Wayland is something that was so great, I had to resize windows for 5 minutes and marvel.
There is, it's the compositor. There is no standard server implementation, however.
I heard xfce 4.14 will fix that this October
