What GNU/Linux distribution do you use Jow Forums?
What GNU/Linux distribution do you use Jow Forums?
gentoo
arch of course
would akarin approve?
NixOS
*tips fedora*
The one that bans avatarfagging at the kernel level.
SJW/SafeSpace?
>shitposter is getting nervous after being exposed

Arch, it's pretty decent desu~
the only one? well i guess you're shill user then huh
plz share ufetch pkg so i don't have to write it myself
>GNU/Linux
Not a real thing. I still like Emacs though.
I know that boy. I fucked him in the ass

B L O A T
Words can't describe how jealous I am ( ・ั﹏・ั)
Can you hook me up with him?
did he cum? :3
nixos packages counts are always much higher
2: i don't care
gitlab.com
Here the shell script.
> C O P E
Just having Latex is like 4500 packages on nix, so it's normal to have just under 10k packages because we seperate them. Also all of us have multiple copies of packages for different versions so those count too
oh i use neofetch to get the package count btw just change this line
packages="$(neofetch packages | cut -d " " -f 2)"
I've been trying Nix lately and generally loving it, though there were some things I found difficult and convoluted the nix way. I'm not a programmer or anything so maybe its just too advanced for me. I'm installing Gentoo atm but I haven't decided which I'll stick with
good luck with gentoo, it's pretty good from experience. These two distros while both very eccentric, are very different from each other. In a way even though they are both minimal and source based, in gentoo you do all the work and in nixos it just work but admittedly gentoo offers better customisability in the end.
I am no programmer too, i'm in biology but generally with nix the community has been very nice to me and answered all my questions, the gentoomen will also do the same.
What i am getting at is whatever you choose both of these choices are incredible and whatever you pick will be a right choice and you will also learn a lot. These distros might frustrate you at time (especially gentoo) but if you feel helpless at least try asking around the ircs and discords and /fglt/ /sqt/ before giving up.
do you have systemd?
don't know. came pre-installed. maybe anons could find out and tell me?
>loving it
>uptime of 30 minutes
fuck off back to your gaymen windows install, poseur
yes, it's one of the main reasons i use it over guixSD's hacked up amateur init script
thanks user. The nix community though small does seem great and very helpful. I'll see what I think of Gentoo this weekend. I am also unironically installing it because I love Gentoos (I have done conservation work for them in the past)
that was a screenshot from last week I had saved on my phone, which I'm currently posting from
>phoneposting
just neck yourself
you seem upset
well shit, now that it's in front of me
pastebin.com
you'll have to write the patch in yourself though, neofetch takes too long to count packages for my taste
rent free dilate have sex bend over bitter incel tbhon xd
if you can't program and don't want to learn, it's probably not for you
>You Raugh You Ruse
I do want to learn, but I also want all my basics running off the bat. also, portage and use flags seem very useful so I want to try it out
everything should work god ootb as long as you use nixos rather than nixpkgs-unstable. however adding your own packages and making adjustments is somewhat hard. try the nixos manual nixos.org
and check out my gitlab if you want, i have quite a few custom nix packages, though it's hard to navigate. check under "my custom packages". gitlab.com
by my basics I mean the programs i use on a daily basis, not just the os/DE itself
hey user, i think you won't like gentoo
that's a shame
maybe, we'll see :)
Solus
debain 9.9
idk how to upgrade to 10 and idk what the differences are in it
hmmm
windows 10. it comes with ubuntu.
fedora, ubuntu, debian, centos, proxmox
do those not just work with nix-env -iA `nixos.foo`?
I'll give an example of a minor issue I had that illustrates it. I want to change the background image of sddm. Usually I would do that by clicking a button in settings and typing my root password, but in Nix you have to do it in a declarative way with no obvious solution such as extraConfig.
i want to nakadashi akarin
you're saying sddm.extraConfig didn't do the trick? assuming sddm itself is writing to that config file, the mechanism should be essentially the same right? you could also make the change and then cat the config file to see what you need to add to extraConfig
nixos.org
crux has all the programs I need, and if there isnt a port I just make the damn port
GNU/Linux: Ubuntu
Linux: postmarketOS
uwuntu *~*
debianX with Xfce
gentoo
Debian Stretch with KDE.
Linux: Slackware
BSD: OpenBSD
what ports have you made
Akari is so cute!
Debian stable. Waiting for the current version.
Fedora
GENTOO SUCKS, why?
Gentoo: after compiling everything, including the kernel without X + manually modyfication USE flags = 100 MB
Slackware: afther installation with binaries without X: 64 MB RAM
gentoo is terrible not optimized crap
inb4 i'm suck because i use bad flag, in default flags i have about 150 MB RAM
Void
install gentoo
Ubuntu.
First time using Linux and I wanted something retard friendly.
But boy it does look like shit and is also bloated. Is Xubuntu just Ubuntu with XFCE slapped?
Yes
And is that good enough?
should be
FreeBSD.

akarin uses windows because she is japanese
A window manager (ratpoison), a torrent daemon (btpd), a couple utilities and networking tools, several cli programs like fzy, kpcli, a framebuffer version of the netsurf browser, an init daemon, lots of perl programs, and also remade some ports.
Not counting the perl programs I made like 177 ports and I have more on the making.
seagull shit linux, it's a distribution I made myself. Seagull Shit is for people who like wallpapers of seagull shit.
