The dock is the best application launcher because it's both the most aesthetically pleasing and hides out of sight when you're not using it, freeing up screen real estate
Why aren't you using a dock, /gee/?

I just search the program's name. Typing the first 3 letters and hitting enter is quicker for me.
>dock
>program launcher
>status bar
ye, why not just have all?
I want to be the dock.
this. using a mouse on laptops is nothing but suffering

You need the screen real-estate because you waste it on that useless top-panel.
The windows super-bar is the best dock. It has all the information from your top-panel & dock and it can even hide when you're not using it.
That's what I do.Auto-hide the dock and status-bar, and Windows key everything.I hate having shit in the way.I really wish there was a Gnome version that didn't have all of that extra shit.
Test
This is a test
just use a dmenu script for a mac os finder-like application search menu.
use KDE. its got the best features of gnome (unified system settings/gui, modern interface) without a ton of trash attached to it
The picture is from Google you aspie, why would any self-respecting person use Gnome
that looks convoluted.
all the application software, games and utilities one keystroke away
github.com
state of the art features include
- vertical list
- horizontal list
- up to 4 different colors
- a font of your choice
- and more
because tint2 exists
>without a ton of trash attached to it
no no no no
The patrician solution.
Because i already use rofi, so i don't waste any valuable screen space.
cause I prefer just using dmenu
base install uses ~400mb of ram
rofi is a waste of space, use dwm
shit i meant dmenu, i need to sleep that's it
dwm is hot garbage
dmenu
I'd love to use dwm, but i can't be bothered to configure volume/media keys and other shit that works out of the box with xfce.
I don't like all of the scatterbrained menus and the search feature sucks. I want a DE that has everything hidden behind the search feature. When I want something I hit super-key, a search bar pops up, and I type what I want. I would be fine with Gnome with no taskbar, dock, or application over-view.
What the fuck. Are you ok, user?
I use keyboard shortcuts for the common programs and dmenu for everything else
This
Works across all OSes. Even stock Windows. Hit the windows key, start typing a few letters, and hit enter.
I don't have anything docked on the start menu and no icons on the desktop.
>implying that windows' "pin to taskbar" option since win7 isn't a dock ripoff
