Finish college

>finish college
>get hired by NSA
>50k a year
>friend goes to work some literal who startup
>100k + bonuses starting

Exactly what the fuck is supposed to motivate me to even give a shit about ethics in my shit paying dirt cleaning job?

Attached: 1531267405903.png (1354x1678, 1.48M)

>friend goes to work some literal who startup
>100k + bonuses starting
>out of business within six months and going job hunting and doing free internships for the rest of the year

Yeah except he can join yet another literal who start up that pops up for 100k in this endless ponzi scheme.
My point is that I'm a fucking retard for not reaping the benefits of this shitshow and people expect us public servants to be infallible beings for pennies and the shit we have to wade through.

I don't know about the US, but in my country public servants are nearly undischargable, pay lower taxes, retire early and get a big fat pension. It's a good option for a comfy life of sitting on your ass if you don't wanna go through the ups and downs and equally retarded shitshow of "the market".

Work there for a year or two then go to a contractor and triple your money depending on where you are. If you want the money you can't work direct for the govie.

jewstan?

>what is job security
>what is pension
>what is actual work to grow your skillset
>what is career stability

And most importantly
>what the fuck exactly is supposed to motivate him to become a better coder and move up the ranks?

These startups are money laundering scheme and your friend is a tri-racial tranny who wears a fedora and can be put in the front page of the picture on the website. Or he’s just a sap that they hope can give them 11 hours of work a day with no structure or well-run infrastructure/requirements. A “coding rockstar”, as we here at Jow Forums say.

Since you like to jerk off to the "yearly wage" meme here is the thing
-NSA will exist for the next years
-your friends shitty startup may not
-your friends shitty startup may fire him for a pajeet or a diversity hire who does the job for 40k a year

>not applying for IRS
Dumbass.

how to become public servant? programming, security? What sort of jobs there are?

>work 9 months at shitty start up for 75k + bonus
>startup crashes
>enjoy paid unemployment NEETdom for 3 months
>repeat
How is this a bad thing?

>what is job security
There's none in neither the big companies or small startups. You might get kicked out at any moment. Mass layoffs are a god damn norm nowadays.
>what is pension
Something that's already being cut in some countries because that scheme is flat out unsustainable. Don't count on ever seeing even 70% of that money you paid into your pension.
>what is actual work to grow your skillset
You can do that at any workplace or on your own time.
>what is career stability
Same thing as job security, there's very little of it.

>Applies for low paying job
>Accepts it
>wtf why am I low paid?

Extremely low IQ post.

I'm a state worker. I make shit compared to others in the private sector. However there is several advantages:

I live in a low col state; my salary such as it is is enough to cover everything yet have a few bucks left over to save/spend.

I've no debt other than my house

Can retire at age 50 w/full benefits;pension and state pays a big slice of any medical needs down the road. Also got a separate 401k.
Any unused vacation time I got when I retire they pay me for. Any sick time I got can be used to cut down the time I gotta put in or increase the time I serve.

Get 12 paid state holidays (time off) a year plus my vacation time I rack up. They pay me to vote; get 4 hrs of paid time to vote during elections. Get off during Governor/presidential elections.

Can't be fired unless I really fuck up; show up drunk or stoned or cheat on working time is really the only ways. Private sector, your working at the whim of the company.

He's talking about the NSA, which has great job security. No mass layoffs, no bullshit like that.
Federal pensions are funded as you work, so that money will 100% be there when you retire. If federal pensions go belly up, the world will be looking like mad max at that point.

>hired by NSA, posts a Russian model
Why? Get your skills and then move on if you have the get up and go.

Sounds like much of Europe, where retirement funds are in reality gone but the civil "service" will always get their cut. In many countries the ruling socialist parties have secured their power base by massively inflating civil service where perhaps half can plausibly say they have real work.

You have to be over 18 to post here

Yours does have stability and probs a lot less crunch shit from a clueless management team who go to conferences on how to manage people only to get back and do the same shit they were doing before.
Your management team is probs better.
Otherwise, this is your own fault, find a job like your friend's one. If he can "just join another literal who start up that pops up for 100k" why can't you? You've now got some work experience, what's stopping you? Laziness? Being a pussy? Just fucking do it. You don't even need to be serious about the company either, you could just do the interviews or whatever and then see what they offer and at the end of it, you can still say no and keep working as an NSA drone.

I can, but not really.

Leave the NSA.

My pension will be there. It's enshrined in the state laws to the point that the state itself would have to go broke before pensions got cut. They'd cut damn near everything else before they fucked with the pensions. See, the pension system covers everyone who works for the state; legislators, teachers, state workers, police, judges, even county/local govt workers.

That's because your job isn't useful in any way. But if you work your way up in the hierarchy you have lots of opportunity for corruption, which pays much better than your retard startup friends. Doesn't look like it from an entry level position, but CIA niggers get paid very well as soon as they can determine you have no scruples or morals and can be used for the actual workload.

Sounds like you're being a pussy. I was too, but I'm starting a new job that pays more tomorrow after 5 years of working at some place that was paying me 58k after 5 fucking years of working there.
I was a noob, but not 58k a noob and there's lots more leaving now that I'm gone, shit's gonna get real for them super fast.
Explain why you can't do what he did.

There's no fucking reason to think that your pension is secure. Look at what they are doing to Social Security, which has a much higher voter base.

I'm gonna assume you're a GS-9 fresh hire.
You get a seniority raise on top of COL increase every year. If you're not brain dead, you'll quickly promote to GS-12, which is anywhere from $83k to $100k, depending on seniority. Your job is extremely stable, and you will only get fired for majorly fucking up.

This is all on top of getting every federal holiday off, some additional "family days", occasional half days, and on top of that 2.5 work weeks of vacation time. Oh yeah, you also get 12 days a year of sick leave, which accumulates, and you can take at your discretion. You also get pretty good medical benefits.

If you're unable to see how that's valuable and just want your immediate $100k salary working at a meme bay area startup, go ahead, leave. 10 years later you might understand, and kick yourself in the ass.

I want to work for the government, but my corporate salary is just too good to give up.
A friend of mine from work got hired at Amazon, but his salary was 140k. He gets stocks and all, but what's the fucking point if the company is only willing to invest 140k of hard cash in him? He was making 105k in Atlanta.
>inb4 west coast tranny cope about muh RSUs muh 700k starting
But what these fags never tell you is how much of that is hard currency and how much of it is speculationist meme shit like shares.

Big daddy Uncle Sam shits gold. Never forget that.

Social security will be exhausted in 20 years because there will be a ridiculous amount of boomers drawing off of it.
Instead of the age distribution looking like a straight column, or a pyramid, there is a big buldge where the boomers are. SS's planners never thought there would be MORE retirees than workers equivalent paying in.

That said, just the trust fund will be depleted, and even if congress does nothing, SS will be able to pay out 80% of benefits from normal payroll taxes. By the time we retire, it will be back to normal, since the boomers will be long dead.

You'll have the fucking NSA on your employment record and CV. You'll probably have a fucking security clearance.

What the fuck is the problem exactly? Companies kill each other to recruit people like you.

The birthrate has been decreasing. Millennials are the new boomers and SS will be long gone by the time they retire just like your pensions.

>get hired by NSA

Attached: 1556127559035.png (1000x1000, 168K)

Then we will just import even more meat bags.

Pablo doesn't pay taxes.

Yeah this. There's a reason public servants are despised every where but people secretly want to be one. Easy stable job. Not for me though.

Hey dipshit - if you are comparing ethical behavior to your paycheck and that of others, then you're in the wrong business. Either you're in it for the money or you're in it for the good you're supposed to be doing. If money is the overriding factor, then your ethics are compromised.

Legal immigrants are usually productive members of society, and we have no short supply of those.

They don't have children.

That's why we keep importing.

>NSA
>3dpd
>evashit
Fuck off

This. Also NSA starts a lot higher than 50k

The NSA has a real mission with real impacts. Having a job that actually means something, and doesn't exist just to make shareholders rich, is a great opportunity.
You are a "civil servant". Your job is to serve the people of the US, and in compensation, you get an OK pay with great non-financial benefits.

If you're just trying to make money, you're in the wrong place. Get your security clearance, leave, and go work for a big defense contractor wasting government money attempting to develop shitty software. Or go to some "literally who" bay area startup and spend your time developing shitty react webapps.

If he's actually making 50k at the NSA, he was probably hired as some sort of secretary, or to maintain the internal wiki.
If the NSA actually paid $50k right outside of DC, they'd have literally nobody working for them.

My state job is easy shit; just show up do whatever then leave. I'm up doing shit so I get exercise; no desk jockey. I don't gotta fuck with paperwork out the ass, no bosses looming over my shoulder, no having to kiss anyone's ass. No real stress. Plus my job is bulletproof as is the benefits.

I make enough to cover everything and then some. So where is my motivation to leave? I've got it made. Frankly my only motivation is to put in 14 more years then pull the pin and sit on my ass and do jack shit till I die. I'll be "retired" in every good way.

>Jow Forums - CIA Niggers and NSA
Where do you think you are?

And people bitch about governmental malfeasance...

it's ok user, most people here would do the same given the chance, money is money, don't worry

besides, if they didn't hire you they would hire someone else to do your job.

You get government benefits, dummy, and you scale up with experience.

This.

Plus, you work for the mothafuckin' NSA.

god i wish i was american
i won't ever be able to do anything as cool as that here

From what my incredibly based dad at McAfee told me he said that 3 letter government agencies is basically politics ++. You will work under powerful people like Director James Comey or Peter Strzok who are often the types of people born into power and shouldn't be the ones with it in the first place. The work environment is cutthroat with swine backstabbing each other to get ahead. No one truly has the interest of the country in mind. At least in the private sector you can be confined safely within your cubicle only having to worry about HR and get paid a living too.

The moral of the story is never do government jobs unless if you want to end up like Snowden.

He's just a cog for what is essentially satan paid by tax dollars leeched from the people. How the fuck is that cool.

That's how government work is dude.

I was supposed to interview for crypto job at NSA but then I realized I can make more money at comfy tech job with nice perks and talk about what I do at work etc.

>Jow Forums- Whiners

The absolute fucking audacity of you glowniggers to not only think you are welcome here, but that you can also blogpost here.

Please, explain how the NSA is Satan.
Literally every country has a signals intelligence service.

What are you gonna do about it?
:^)

nigger you work for the NSA. Work there for a year or two, then make the biggest bucks in the private military sector. What the fuck is wrong with you?

>fed finally raises interest levels to be normal
>all these zombie start ups go under since they are never cash flow positive
>out of work and have meaningless work experience on your resume

Great job, enjoy your 14 hour work days working for some retard app developer knowing if they can't scam more VC money they're out of business

I find 5his girl kinda ugly but when I see her in her Asuka suit, damn dude it gets me hard.

Chad is living the dream. Free bagels and no captain sweatpants in the office. And you just know he's dicking down Durkadurka.

work for nsa for a couple of years, get a security clearance, get a high paying contractor job. they're more likely to hire someone with prior experience and a security clearance already since they're expensive to get

Hack a bank.... then go to jail, and then get hire by the nsa again....

>Work at company for 2 years
>Can stay at the end of the year and get a 5% raise
>Or can go to another company and get 10-20% more

Literally what is the point of this shit?

you dont want to work in a public sector unless you hate your job because everyone around you does and nothing gets done. friend of mine went to public sector and the first week he got his own office and didnt work at all because his boss was on vacation and his stand-in didnt know he existed. now he works 8 hours a day and of those maybe 3 effectively because he has to wait for others. he is bored out of his mind and wants to go somewhere else because he cant do this for another 45 years.

>be me
>like my company
>cant get a raise for 2 years in a row
>move to another city and get 20% more with a new start-up
>notice the start-up goes nowhere
>quit after 2 years
>apply at my old company
>get another 12% raise compared to the start-up

capitalism. it just werks.

>retire at age 50 w/full benefits
Guess it's a good thing life expectancy is that low in the states.
Do they infuse you with liquid hamburgers to ensure it won't take too long, or do you eat those voluntarily?

get a job at a bank... "there you will start to give shit about ethics..." but remember this not even Obama give too much shit about ethics..... but also remember this, you should give shit about going to jails :).... that will motivate you to have ethics....

It really depends on what agency/bureau/department you work for.
Most are the stereotypical government job culture, but there are teams of actual performers, and working on those teams can be extremely rewarding.

I really don't understand how the useless types just sit around the entire day and do nothing. I suppose the NPC meme isn't too far off from reality.

The dude didn't even say he was in the US... I swear you Europeons literally cannot stop thinking about America.

>Governor/presidential elections
...is a dead give-away, isn't it?
I don't know any country with "governors" in Europe.

That should motivate you to not get caught lol.

After working for 10 years, in both private and public sector (not really government, just education and utility), I can say that backstabbing BS happens in both. I do see more of that in private sector.

One of the benefits that normally doesn't show up for the lower salary vs startups is that you don't work 10 hour days, and more like 7.5 hour days.

Germany? Belgium?
Plus, this being a primarily American website, people often translate local titles into something that everyone will easily understand (e.g. "Governor" instead of "Ministerpräsident")

Regardless, America was absolutely unrelated to his comment, and yet you still felt the need to write that.

Governor and presidential elections, low collapse state, 401k... has an American, replying to an American OP, unless you know of another country with governor and presidential elections, 401k, and NSA that OP works at.

In Canada our NSA (CSE) pays higher than any tech company at the entry level

I recent got hired as a part of the Treasury doing IT work. I'm relatively early in my career (mid-20s), and it's been pretty good so far. The initial pay is a bit low, but once I'm GS-12 it'll be really good for the area I'm in. I think I could see myself staying in this position/area for my entire life. Then again, I'm just content with being content.

Attached: 1496042134325.jpg (512x512, 36K)

This isn't real, but because working in the public sector has awesome benefits (retirement, medical, etc).

im a poor whiteboy that makes 10,000 a year, be proud of your 50K

Your living expenses in Virginia mean you're making more than your friend.

USA USA USA!!!

>THE BUBBLE WILL POP ANY DAY NOW

enjoy making 50k/yr for the next 5 years while your peers make 200k+

Except the NSA doesn't pay $50k for any compsci-related jobs - so either OP is lying or he's actually a janitor.

I'm the dude who can retire at age 50. The col is low in my state. I make shit. but the only debt is my house.

Under the formula they use to figure out the retirement payout you'll get a year basically the col would have to go up like almost double the current rate before it'd hurt me any. This is going by what I make now. Still got 14 more years to go.

So age 50 start drawing pension. The col would have to be x 2 current rate at age 50 before pension itself would not cover things. I don't see that happening. If anything my exp would be less due to less wear and tear on my car, less fuel for the car, etc. Then I also got my 401k/whatever cash in the bank/ and my brokerage.

You go to work in the government for stability and connections.

>He gets stocks and all,
You are retarded. Amazon is a public company. After your 1 year, stock is as good as cash. Google even has an option where they will autosell your stock for you at the end of the month.

NSA is in MD but anyways, DC area is expensive as fuck. 50k doesn't go far here. Also word of advice to OP: if you're a technical person NEVER go to work directly for the government, be contractor instead. If you have a clearance + know how to code there's no reason why you shouldn't be making 100k+ by your 2nd or 3rd year (even if you suck at coding).

>get hired by NSA
How does it feel to be the central bankers bitch?

me too

A startup takes a huge gamble with a salary like that.

NSA probably has tons of different applicants who are all extremely skilled. The point of NSA, and places like it, is literally to work up the ladder.

With a startup there is no ladder. You're going to be at that position forever.

>I swear you Europeons literally cannot stop thinking about America.
it's just getting worse and worse now, europe must really be shit

>friend goes to work some literal who startup
>100k + bonuses starting

>fast forward six months
>company goes out of business
>friend is unemployed
>never got insurance or retirement benefits, kept being told "they're coming next week" and believed it
>ineligible for unemployment, all work was paid cash under the table because the douches who ran the company thought it was "easier for everyone involved"
>burnt out because of working weekends with no social life outside of other programmers
>commits sodoku on the golden gate bridge

>meanwhile the NSA boss likes your work
>you get promoted
>you get your TS clearance
>you have government issued insurances and retirement benefits
>might even be eligible for a pension
>work is kept strictly to 40 hours a week
>no depression, sunny days ahead
>everyone loves you because NSA work is considered a public service
>you live in a diverse area with tons of different walks of life
>you meet a qt3.14 children's book author
>she speaks 4-5 languages and is into all the same stuff you are
>you get married
>you fuck
>you both live your life to the fullest, free of self doubt and insecurities

>How is this a bad thing?
>implying the NEETdom won't last longer than 3 months
You've obviously never been near Seattle before.

>working at NSA
enjoy your career dead end

you would work for the nsa in a heartbeat if offered

This.
My end goal is to work IT in a hospital.

The question is, does Jow Forums's antipathy for NSA come from privacy and security concerns; or the fact that Jow Forums is full of dumb larping neets with riced kernels and dead end IT support workers, who have 5 unfinished personal "projects" on github that they will get to any day now - both never standing the chance to work at such an institution.

>my shit paying dirt cleaning job?
did no one else read this or is it something compsci related I just never heard of?
