Are you a ramlet?

Are you a ramlet?

You aren't still on 8GB of System ram? That is really pushing it in 2019.

every considered suicide? that could be your best option.

>runs fine

DDR3 8 GB 1600 Mhz CL7 with i7-2700k 4,8 GHZ. I used to have a reference 7970 blower overclocked from 925 MHz to 1275 MHz, but after 7 years of gaymen, mining shitcoins, drying my hair in the morning, defrosting my frostbitten extremities when I come home and heating the house, it finally died. What's the best ram for ryzen 3000 out there rn?

I bought 16gb of 3200mhz, I figured it would just future proof me / let me keep plenty of tabs open in the background. I'm using Linux anyway so it gives me a lot of overhead.

>it gives me a lot of overhead
Overhead isn't something you want.

>tfw fell for the 64gb ram meme

honestly depends on what you are doing with that particular system, I have like 10 computers, at least 5 of them are 8gb or less ram.

8 inch Windows tablet with 1gb of ram
12 inch windows tablet with 4gb ram
7th gen nuc with 8gb ram
8th gen nuc with 8gb ram
laptop with 8gb ram.

Id consider 16gb the minimum for doing anything significant multimedia wise or gaming above 1080p 60 now though.

Considering buying a high end nuc, hades canyon and putting two of those 32gb samsung so dimms in it for 64gb of system ram, that would be for a dedicated dual boot 64 simultanious track audio production (with plug ins ) / video editing / 1080p 60 40mb capture rig though, so i suspect 16gb isnt going to cut it.

That seems like overkill to me for anybody who isnt running VMs or doing pretty significant music/video editing bullshit.

I feel like 32gb should be fine, but i honestly dont know.

Mate, I've been on 32GB since July of 2014, when I got my 4790k. Can't believe it's been 5 years already.
>tfw you remember the days when you could buy 32 gigs of RAM instead of 16, because price was negligible

I am, simply because one of my RAM sticks died
It's been a year since that happened and I still haven't even RMA'd it because i feel literally no difference between 16GB and 8GB

12gb ddr3 chad here.

Explain how I have 6 gb of ram

Prices are coming back down in Norway at least.

Such a kit was nearly 2k a year ago.

Now it is 700 (80USD) nok as compared to nearly tripple that in the past few years.

Yeah, I know... But if you want a decent 4x8GB kit (3200CL14, 3600CL16) it's still like 300€.

I gots 1x4gb+1x8gb in my machine.
Dumb fucks throw away perfectly good RAM.

>tfw 4GB
send help

I keep thinking about throwing away a 1600mhz 4gb ddr3 so dimm.

2GB actually.

Attached: 1472499464452.jpg (540x533, 23K)

so how much do you recommend ?
128 GB?

I was running 2gb up until 6 months ago. new computer and went up to 32gb. its nice

I'd forgive you if it were ddr3.
But touching anything below 8gb after ddr4 came out is disgusting.

Based mismatched parts bro

It came with this laptop I bought in 2016. It was the only config available.
i thought RAM prices would go down soon and I can upgrade then.
I thought wrong.

A fucking Raspberry now have more RAM than you. Shame yourself.

32gb is well enough, I just run into video memory limitations when playing certain VR titles. 8gb vram is not enough for 2019

8gb ddr2 in system, 32gb ddr4 in mail

LOCK ME UP

Just bought these. I've got a new motherboard coming and it has four RAM slots. Should I keep my 16GB of 2400mhz DDR4 and use it alongside these or just sell them?

After spending the last year getting restricted by 8gb of ram in a system on it's last legs I'll never be a ramlet again
Went with the overkill option of 32gb

Mixing ram can cause stability issues. Also all of your stick would run at 2400.

I have even heard that you should get your ram from the same kit.

What the fuck are you doing that you need more than 8 gigs of ram? Are you playing games in VM? Do you have hunderet of chrome tabs?

tfw fell for the 128 MB ram meme

shiieeeet 24gb would be perfect since my vms get killed if i start to compile programs on 16gb

Attached: 1560934152209.jpg (800x800, 84K)

only 32gb of ram in 2019. dont you think its time for an upgrade

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 90K)

Windows + Firefox with a few tabs uses over 5 GB. That's less than 3GB available for multitasking.

If your RAM runs low the tabs that aren't in focus get offloaded from RAM to virtual memory until they are reawoken.

RAM that you aren't using is not doing anything for you

>Are you playing games in VM?
I do this with 8

8GB and my computer never slows down. I use it for general use and webdev.

Finding portable computers with 16G and an i7 is a bitch.

Right now I have a Coffee Lake laptop with 16G but if I want to replace it (which I’m thinking about since it has blah battery life), I feel compelled to downgrade to avoid paying out the ass for an equivalent device with better battery.

Even for just gaming. A lot of games or mods require more than 8 GB for smooth performance nowadays.

ram is even cheaper than when i bought my same kit 2 years ago, which is kind of crazy but makes sense considering they announced more DDR4 factories in SK or some shit.

>be me
>have 8gb of 2400mhz ddr3
>it dies
>KingstonLifetimeWarranty.pdf
>they don't sell any high speed ddr3 anymore
>get 16gb of 1866mhz instead

later virgins

Just upgrade the ram?

They might go up again soon
I'm buying RAM now and build later.

depends. i have 2 sets of 2*4gb 2666cl16 from differrent production batches. on my old skylake build they worked at 2666cl16 flawless. my newer x470 board needs the subtimings rounded up (17 -> 18) and still has to retrain for it every so often

A high-end game alone can use 8GB or more, especially since some games also use more system RAM and not just VRAM at high resolution. A modern browser will easily use 1-2GB as well. 8GB is still fine for most things, my tablet has 8GB and I haven't felt it being limited by the RAM in any task I used it for, including older games which the thing is fast enough for. On a proper desktop where high performance is required I would not go below 16, even if it's just for gaming and general use.

i have 8gb on my x250 it should last me for some time right anons???

Attached: 1558703664539.png (691x495, 551K)

I have 32GB in a 7 year old system, my next system will have 64GB because 128GB isn't viable unless I want to shell out big money on threadripper since no other 'consumer' board has 8 ram slots.

I'm not underage, I don't play games. I have no need for anything over 8 GB. Hell, 4 GB is probably enough.

Lol

convince me to upgrade my laptop from 8 to 16GB.
