Want help? >State budget & CURRENCY >Post at least some attempt at a parts list >List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work >For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)
CPUs based on current pricing: >Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming >R3 2200G - Light 30-60fps gaming (dGPU optional). >R5 2600 - Good 60fps+ gaming CPU; great value >R5 3600 - midrange; good for all but the absolute highest end GPUs >R7 3700X - High end, higher FPS. >R9 3900X - Gaming+Streaming/Extreme Productivity. Gaming w/ SMT on flunky due to software scheduling issues. See "more"
RAM: >Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks ONLY for a typical dual channel CPU >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 minimum >AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
GPUs based on current pricing: 1080p >RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost >GTX 1660 - higher fps / more demanding games >RX 5700 - even higher FPS 1440p >RX 5700 - 75-100fps+ in most games >RTX 2080ti - Highest possible FPS, but poor value 2160p (4K) >RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing performance scales better into 4K than Navi does. >2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive
>Navi launch drivers have issues, esp. w/ OC. Wait for AIB if considering the XT. 5700 blower is alright, due to low power. AIB models come mid-August.

Also I just installed a additional SSD and wanted to move all data except OS to the new one. Now I used the easueUS clone tool and I wanna get rid of the OS files, how do I proceed ?
Mine is said to support 3200 and I'm running 3400. B450m 2200g.
Try overclocking first and see what clock the mobo can handle
Jonathan Hall
Asrock b450 Pro4
Nathaniel Mitchell
Best CPU for emulation?
Ryder Wright
is 3200 C16 really that bad? I was looking at the Corsair - Vengeance LPX 2x8GB since the price is good, but I'm struggling to find a 3200 CL14 alternative that isn't like double the price
Yes it's cheap shit. Micron 3000c15 is probably a better die
Jackson Howard
Let me see if I have this straight before I do anything extremely retarded. First of all I have some dumb shit in there, I have two sticks of hyperxfury at 2133 and two more sticks advertised at 2400, so I'm already out of my element in being retarded.
I thought the base speed for all ddr4 ram was 2133 and could only be overclocked to the speed advertised on the box, or can I just overclock any old stick?
Why does CSGO use that mad fps consuming smoke particle? The cs source smoke is much lighter. Hell even the 1.6 looks the same it's all fuckin smoke, just a big gray thing
Luke Jackson
Seems like undervolting with PBO on the 3600 isn't as effective as it was on 2nd gen, anything move than -50mV tanks clock speeds. Still, hitting 4.4 single and 4150 all core now and still a lot of tweaking to do.
heads up: 5700xt on custom air: 2000MHz+ 5700xt on custom water: 2100Mhz+
5700 on air/water: pointless because limited to 1850Mhz
Jace Brown
techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-3900x-tested-on-cheap-b350-motherboard/2.html the board is almost the same so it should work, asus hasn't updated the list in like a year b450 should be fine the speed advertised on the box is the guaranteed overclocked number that you should get because they tested that before selling it to you but you can try overclocking beyond that.
Jacob Perry
9980XE or the 3900x if you can't afford that.
James Allen
How long until the dust settles? How long until Super and Navi partner cards with non-shit heatsinks get reviewed? I want to renew my build, because I want 1440p and VR, and I doubt my Haswell i5 will be able to not horribly bottleneck yet another GPU upgrade.
Carter Parker
You can set the ram speed and timings to whatever retarded number you want, it just might not post. The number on the box is the factory tested OC numbers.
Jason Nguyen
mid august
Aaron Brown
early august, mid august if you want to wait for the dust to really settle.
There really needs to be better micro ATX/ITX boards for AMD. The selection is pretty barebones compared to Intel.
Kayden Lewis
>Still no 3900x available in Europe fuck amd and fuck wypipo
Luke Campbell
Wait, is XMP actually a factory overclock profile?
Carson Martinez
yes
Jackson Allen
>taken from old thread. So Jow Forums For gaming, what would you recommend? 3600x or 3700x? Considering the 3700x has 8 cores and the next generation consoles are going to use 8 core processors also - would it be ideal to future proof and spend the extra dosh on the 3700x? Or in general it won't really matter and the 6 cores will preform just as well (or even better) than the 8 cores?
Retailer I pre-ordered at, expects to get them Friday. Hope it is because I got all my other parts already
Caleb Watson
Nice, any issues with bios? what ram are you using?
Logan Walker
There will be a 4th gen ryzen released by then, just get a cheap 3600 and wait too see what happens. It's more than enough for anything current.
Easton Green
If you have the money there's no reason to not get the 3700X, but if you are only strictly gaming and don't want to spend the extra cash then the 3600(X) is more than enough
Hunter Moore
>having the same amount of cores as a pleb console C'mon user get a 12 core
Nathaniel Hill
I already told you everything you need for a safe overclock I hope you end up selling your rams and buying expensive 3200c16 modules. Oh not really, I pity you for having bought some really shitty ram and even modules of different specs.
Matthew Bennett
my 3400G is benchmarking better in games than my 1700 did, and this is with a Vega 64.
Goes a long way for a $150 CPU.
Levi Turner
Honestly, if you have the money, go for the 3700x, there's no disadvantage for bumping it up to 8cores. That being said, there's not too much difference. Both can clock at the same speeds if OC'd, and if you don't, even their base speeds are very similar.
Christian Taylor
Will a 12 core 4000 work on my b450m? Pls say yes user! (Don't lie tho) Pls
Hunter Nguyen
I saved your reply, but it's literally 3am and I'm 4 beers deep. It's not the time to be doing this.
Connor Bennett
Yes, I hate each and every hype train: I want to base my purchases on solid informations and informed choices, not on rushed reviews made on pre-production hardware, with half-assed drivers/bios, with shill and fangirls flinging shit at each other, filling the air with noise through which it's impossible to make out what's best. I've been lucky that the chance to upgrade my machine came with a new generational shift, but I'd been happier if it came a few months later, because now I'll be waiting for good informations.
Josiah Young
A major retailer in the Netherlands is saying they expect them next week. So I guess it'll be the same for our neighbors
Jayden Nguyen
Can't see any reason why it wouldn't. If anything they will use less power than 3rd gen.
Luke Mitchell
How is that even possible, shill
Liam Ross
Gaming and only gaming, nothing else? 9700k(sub 400) or a cheap 8700k(sub 350).
Brayden Martin
Do b450 boards support all the 3600 cpu's features? Like PBO and auto oc?
Benjamin Bell
thank you my dutch brother
Logan Ortiz
Yes.
Ryan Rodriguez
>auto oc Just do it yourself, if I can do it anybody can.
Nathaniel Mitchell
So I guess what it comes down to is - Do games even utilize 8 cores? I know the multicore processing is about 30%~ better on the 3700X than 3600(X) (obviously), but will games benefit from those increased cores? Most use 6 at the moment, so is it unreasonable to assume games in the near future will ask for 8? Heck, I think some games already do, although I'm not 100% certain.
Jeremiah Flores
Any Ryzen mobo has core boost wtf
Liam Cooper
what good board then? someone recommended msi b450 tomahawk
Ryan Watson
>Intel Lol
Dominic Foster
Lol nice projection, selfish prick
Angel Taylor
I have a b450m DS3H and I don't regret it, it was super cheap and it does just everything the others do.
Owen Hughes
Is it worth getting an x570 board over an x470 or b450? I'm planning on getting a 3700x to go with it.
Ethan Wood
Yes, games will definitely utilize more cores and threads in the future, how far into the future I don't know since I am not a psychic.
Carson Kelly
Only if you don't have an old ryzen CPU and plan on utilizing PCIe 4.0 in some capacity
Zachary Campbell
ye this is confusing whats the point of x570? do b450 support 3600mhz ram speed? Do b450 support all the cpu features? Which b450 will be able to do deliver enough power for 3600 or 3700x?
Juan James
Probably because games still don't utilize more than 4 threads worth shit.
Also who am I shilling for if I'm comparing an AMD CPU to another AMD CPU?
Carter Morgan
and i dont have any ryzer cpu... so im getting b450 it needs bios flash without cpu function..
Gabriel Jenkins
That's all I needed to hear. Considering my 3570 Ivy Bridge has lasted me 5 years~, I'm hoping it's not unreasonable to assume the 3700X will do the same.
Mason Miller
They are still making the best chips for gaming AND ONLY GAMING. Same as how threadripper, especially for the MSRP, was dogshit at gaming, 9700k, 8700k and 9900k are, comparatively, dogshit at everything BUT gaming.
Michael Bailey
b450 tomahawk and b450 are the safe bet, they have good vrm and bios flashing from a usb stick that's why most people recommend using those 2
Juan Turner
Kaka!
Christopher White
That's why as a real gamer I only trust Intel to deliver so I'm using an 8700 right now, it's great for gaming, really pumps up those framerates.
Chase Murphy
When games are optimized to use more cores, they definitely won't be optimized for multi CCX trash like 3900x so don't think you're futureproof if you buy it.
Kayden Clark
Same, my 4690K has lasted me around 5 years as well. The 3700X (which I also got) will definitely last that long if not longer, considering this video youtube.com/watch?v=yh6NvJZjLI0
Liam Long
isn't intel planning on implementing CCXes as well?
Jason Miller
>0.06$ was deposited into your account
Josiah Mitchell
Dont listen to these mongol recommending anything but Msi b450m mortar
Oliver Jenkins
No issue, except for memory timings not sticking. A-XMP works. RAM is PVR416G360C6K
Adam Lee
I've been thinking of getting a 5 2600 for some months now and been saving up for the pc parts of my build, but I'm very poor and a lot of spening has come up on other important things. Is there a similar CPU in the same price range? I can't really pay any more than a 2600 and even the 2600 seems a little hard to get for me now.
Aiden Harris
why is i7 7700 still expensive? want to move away from my 6500.
imagine wanting to be stuck on intel platform just get am4 and accept 3600 next year u can push in cheap 3900 or 4xxx and enjoy life
Caleb Johnson
And now we come to the "worth shit" weeds of subjective verisimilitude.
Is MHW worth shit? is TWW2 worth shit? Both of these games use more than 4 threads, in the former it spawns 32 fucking threads if you don't use the special-K fix. You can argue how garbage they are but they are CPU hungry games.
So why are the new Ryzen CPUs running so hot despite drawing so little power?
The Ryzen 3700X specifically
Dylan Adams
smaller dies, heat gets concentrated. also the 65w CPUs draw 90w on load and the 95w CPUs 130-140w.
Jonathan Nguyen
>199 lol just get r5 2600 + asrock b450
Jaxon Clark
I tested on Civ VI which is heavily optimized for high core counts.
3400G beat my 1700 by 5 seconds, though the 1700 benchmark is older so the gap could be smaller in reality. 1700 was also done on an X370 Gaming Pro Carbon while the 3400G was done on a B450 Tomahawk.
Cooper Bailey
Tiny chiplet generation all the heat on one quarter of the package. Even the 3600 is pushing 70c under a NHD15
