The secondary video card had gone bad, making the screen glitch out sometimes, but the owner didn't realize that and switched the primary and secondary cards, putting the bad one in the primary slot so it wouldn't boot. I swapped them back and reflowed the secondary (I know there is controversy about the effectiveness of this). Works great now. 3rd gen 17 and twin GTX 675m in SLI. He kept the HDDs but otherwise it's basically untouched since 2014 when he put it on a shelf. $2300 new in 2013 lel.

I've had speakers there before but I like the space to push a drink underneath when making room for a plate of food or whatever I may need desk space for.

Any reason you don't stack some of your CRTs? Also, do you have any issues matching refresh rates between the new and old sets? My Packard Bell only does like 59.8Hz for some reason so it causes banding on any adjacent CRTs running at 60Hz.

The only real place to do that while still being visible while seated would be on top of the L5s with a sub 10" monitor for something like GBA games, and I'd be a bit worried about cooking the upper monitor from heat from below. The fact that they might not even be there in a month thanks to getting rotated out for a potential purchase is also the reason why I haven't done anything in that area yet.

As for the magnetic interference, that's more an issue when degaussing on startup. I turn the VGA monitors away from each other when turning them on to try and minimize the effect. Once they're up and running, I don't see any such issues.
