Agreed, I enjoy having sex with my Stax, they always give me the best orgasms.

Help me choose an upgrade, /hpg/. I have PSB M4U 1 headphones, Cayin N3 DAP and O2 amp. N3 drives the headphones OK, but O2 lifts the whole experience one step above. I've tried Denon AH-D7200 and Focal Clear, and think headphone upgrade isn't worth it. But what about DAP? O2 shows I could benefit from more powerful one, also I'd like it to be more neutral. Any recommendations?

What phone is like HD 600 but with more bass? Under 500 yurobucks.
I'm getting annoyed with the lack of oomph in my HD 650.

DT880? a little more bass but not much. Otherwise ELEX

Are DT770 going too far in the bass?

guys il be honest here

>tfw cant tell the difference between 30 dollar logitech shitware and DT770s

i-its because audiphiles are meming me into buying stuff right its not cause i have inferior hearing r-right

you should try EQ/warmer amp
hifi is mostly a scam yes
but you probably just need some adjusting time to get used to the dt770s

Iv had them for like 3 months now

Minimum half a year to properly burn them in.

You either have terrible hearing or listen to really lo-fi stuff. The difference from gayming headsets to any decent headphones should literally make you cry.

you probably lack enough power to drive them well enough to hear the differences

They are plugged right into my PC do i really need an AMP for them?
can you recc a song for me to compare with?

an amp isn't particularly needed if your hearing is good enough and you constantly listen at softer than speaking levels anyway

also you can listen to these on your headphones to compare
youtu.be/9W6AN_eQeZo
soundcloud.com/shibayan/majico_tr12

alright then idk what to tell you
maybe they're just very similar
you don't NEED an amp but it might help with the bass/overall dynamics

>solves headphones

The only real solution to your problem is to buy Stax.

how likely is it that I broke my amp/dac by bumping into it in the dark? windows recognises the device but there is no sound
it was just a light kick, barely even hurt

Attached: extremely tired pepe2.jpg (720x696, 56K)

Very unlikely.
what dac? also, how can you bump into your dac, you keep it on the floor?

What are some good headphones under $150 for low energy outputs like my iPod and Notebook? Whice are better, the m40x or the k240 mk II? Also I plan to by a portable amp in the future tho

DT770 have pretty decent bass. But they're absolute treble cannons to the point they overwhelm the bass at times. Listening to the DT770s after a session with HD600 is painful but they're great otherwise if you get used to them. The DT880s don't have a lot of bass and still have the ear rape treble. They're some of the most comfortable headphones I've used though. Those pads are like clouds.

Aune X1S
yeah I kind of just got it a few days ago and kept it on the floor temporarily because it was convenient
got any tips for troubleshooting?

the staxshills are bad enough

Just bought DT770 pro. The pads are way harder than 650. Also the bass is shit and everything else is muffled. Fuck you guys.
Do I have to buy some beats shit to get proper bass or something.

Not really, just try optical, connecting to a different device/os, different cable. If the usb really is broken you could open it to see if there's something obviously broken/not making contact, just in case, but you're pretty much screwed in this case and you have to send it back and get a replacement.

It's called Fidelio X2 you fucking nigger

Too late motherfucker.

fostex bruh

>the bass is shit

thumping nigrabass is unironically the worst possible experience in audio

the less bass the better ( not detail, just volume ) and i listen to edm exclusively

Attached: 9230567.jpg (2304x1536, 866K)

Sometimes you want to listen to some bassy shit and watch movies that makes your head vibrate. Otherwise I love my HD 650.

Are sound cards made by ASUS comparable to stuff like Topping, Fiio, Dragonfly, etc.?

I'm looking at an Asus Xonar U7 and a Sound Blaster X-pro gaming G5

I'm also looking at a cheap NX1s amplifier.

What good of the nc Bose 700 ? I feel like they completely drop the ball on this one.

Attached: bose-noise-cancelling-heapdhones-700-2.png (980x551, 603K)

Good job user you just figured out youre tone deaf.

Sound cards are ass get a fucking dac amp

Yeah man, they really did drop the ball, Bose is no longer what they used to be, I remember when they were the best in the industry..... fuck off with your shitphones dumb nigger

Enjoy your tinnitus without anc in the subway.

joke's on you, I ALREADY HAVE tinnitus ;)

>the less bass the better
I agree that niggerbass sucks, but good, articulated bass is nice to have.

Had DT770s for a while now, velour earpads are pretty flat now, also I've washed them before in the past.
Regardless, is there any specific replacement earpads worth getting or should I just replace the pads with another set of OEM ones? I wear glasses too, since it definitely matters with headphones.

Attached: Screenshot_20190709-210433_Roon.jpg (1440x2960, 1023K)

So i got new pads to try and fix pic related.
It was a pain in the ass because the stock pads are fixed in place and you have to disassemble the whole thing to tget them out...

Attached: L2 pads.png (864x717, 1.28M)

Attached: Space-Dimension-Controller.jpg (700x700, 59K)

and it turns out the Brainwavz pads ruin the sound... the nice, warm lows are gone, all i'm left with are the boxy mids.
How annoying is to find new pads for headphones that are not ment to have the pads replaced.

Attached: L2 + Brainwavz pads.png (1008x755, 1.22M)

If you like how they sound, go with stock pads, trust me, i test pads all the time.

Fuck. I fell you.
They look good, apart from the color. Just sucks that they can't do their main job.

Spotted the butthurt SJW commie.

sup /hpg/, I'm looking to get the DT 990s 600ohm version and I'm wondering what to power them with. been leaning on the aune X1s/topping dx3 pro (250 eurobucks max) - any other suggestion in that price range?

>only dac + amp combo
>no schiit stack/whatever else from that brand

is the O2+ODAC worth considering? thanks

Attached: dt 990.jpg (416x550, 41K)

what's a good brad that provides good quality and cheap (focus on cheap) earpads? no leather shit please

Egshell protein is the most based material.
And what are you supposed to get for warmth? In my experience leather is the warmest and velour by far the brightest.

personally enjoying SR-003mk2 via zx300 as transport into woo wa8 tube dac/amp feeding SRM-D10

Attached: 7DE77724-D8A0-4B57-8381-87EA8E448533.jpg (3159x2672, 1.56M)

I need a DAC and headphones with the cheapest everything except for sound quality, but potential for modding. Basically no leather, no metal case, no 200 options, no remote control. I can add in those later.

Attached: Savannah_Cheetaby_ID_S1E1.png (570x709, 407K)

I just got d30 now and holy shit it's way better than my d1 crappy dacs

Yeah, they are very comfortable but the bass is gone, what a shame. Tested them on my MDR V6 and it had the same effect. It's my third headphone in need of new pads, i guess i'll just get the regular "Sony" pads that every alternative brands makes for the V6 and keep looking for something for the L2.
You do realise that you are describing the stock pads too, right? It's probably a sealing issue due to the size difference.

Where my fellow staxers at?

comfort is an important factor; i'll be using these for hours on end.
i heard the dt770 is pretty comfy but i have concerns above the sound signature; the mdr-7506 might do good in the sound quality/signature area, but i'm concerned about comfort; open to other options

only buy german brands.
support the german economy.

It's a bit of an exotic option, but the Custom Studios sound very similar to the DT770 and have the same comfort, however they have bass ports, all the positions have increased bass, except for the first one, which is actually very bass light, so maybe that works for you?
If the Studio is too expensive you can get the Custom One Pro and DT770 pads for it, which will sound the same.

they objectively sound better, even if slightly so

That's an interesting option. Unfortunately, in my region, the Custom One Pro plus DT770 pads costs about exactly as much as the Custom One Studio; and at that price, I could consider many other interesting options too. The reason I'm setting the price low is mostly because these will be carried around a lot, and I might get a different open-back pair for home listening later on.

No thank you Abdul.

help me /hpg/, hoping to pickup a replacement to my 6yo DT880's (cable is fucked, dont want to open and try to fix without a replacement handy) and not sure if i should just buy another pair

not a single (you) :(

Just got them because they were only $150 and thought they may be a decent backup/parts if I ever needed it

You're the one butthurt at politics here, I nor OP never even brought up politics, but suddenly a emblem from a long past war triggers you.

redpill me on the ath 700x, does it sound good even without an amp?

I've owned the ATH-AD900X, and that one I've plugged into my laptop and desktop directly just fine. It does sound a bit better with an amp, though.

>under 100$ budget

Nobody here knows this, try /csg/ or sepparate thread.

Hey guys, bought new earpads, but now the left feels like it has more bass than the right. Same earpads for a closed-back HD598Cs. Any suggestions?

Never mind, I suck cocks. The earpad wasn't snapped all the way in.
Sound is balanced, now.

I know it's an entry-level model, but I am very happy with my new HD599. Thank you guys

m40x or hd598cs?

598

why

AD700X is super easy to drive.

598's sound slightly better and are a lot more comfortable. you should give the DT 770s a try

>you should give the DT 770s a try

Impedance is too high for me, I don't plan in getting an amp any time soon
