some fag just told me that the iphone X has 3 gigs of ram, the same amount as my old ass LG G4.

this has to be a maymay right? isn't the iphone x like 5 generations ahead of the G4? this isn't real lmao.

Don't need all that ram when your OS is optimized for your hardware.
Android needs more RAM for the same performance because it's coded to accept a much wider range of hardware.

that doesn't make any sense. how can the amount of data a program uses change depending on what type of ram or cpu you're using?

do you know the difference between transient, ephemeral, static, and final?

answer the question shills. if i run a program and it requires x amount of ram to cache its data, it should be that way no matter the platform.

Android applications use a Java virtual machine to execute them, iOS does not. Additionally, android memory is handled by the operating system, whereas on iOS memory is handled by applications. Additionally, android is designed by street shitting loos.

Mine (SE) has had issues with apps refreshing when multitasking for the past few weeks
Uninstalling stuff fixed it, but I def won't get another until they have more RAM

why does it matter if it's running on a virtual machine? the machine itself might use up memory to operate, but that shouldn't affect how much memory the actual applications use. it's merely a virtual bridge between the hardware and software development, wheras saying that you need more memory for your specific app implies that there's some sort of layer of complexity you have to take into account, which completely conflicts with the idea that its a virtual machine that's simplifying things for you.

The virtual machine has to interpret the java data for the application to work on your phone dumb fuck. Take an intro CS class at your community college

Will iTards ever admit Apple has faults?

Android removed JVM and hasn't used it since 2014 street shitter. It's all binary for half a decade.

I’m a white American and the only people I know who don’t use iOS are niggers and foreigners. Are you not a US citizen? That’s sad.

You're evading your 500 years of bans iJeet.

I have a Jow Forums pass, sorry to break it to you but:
1. Only white people have Jow Forums passes
2. Being banned would result in not being able to use a Jow Forums pass
Please stop being new to Jow Forums, raj

yeah but why does interpreting have to use up more memory? it has to use up a small cache at best since its a runtime tool, sequentially going through code.

>Optimisation is a meme
>Being proud of your shit OS needing 6GB of RAM to provide basic functions
You are actually the reason why we can't have nice things you fucking consumer.

>Jow Forums
Kill yourself immediately.

have you been living under a rock? adding more RAM instead of optimization has been a thing for decades now. it's cheaper to do that because it means you can use less powerful CPUs since they won't have to compress files as much. this applies to games, video, music, you name it. don't blame me, blame CPUs being a massive bottleneck and developers being lazy as fuck.

I know and that's still not something to be proud of. I don't give a shit about what "everyone" does. Optimise your shit code or shut the fuck about something only having X GB of RAM or soon we'll be looking at half a terabyte of RAM being the average because code monkeys can't add one and one without 34538094 JS frameworks and 15 SQL databases.

you're way too late on that dude. optimizing code isn't going to put a dent on the ecosystem of moors law beefing up hardware. people are just gonna exploit it.

i'm trying to tell you that 3 gigs of ram doesn't mean you can only save 3 gigs of porn on your phone.

Moores law will hit a hard wall sooner than later. Quantum computing is irrelevant to most applications and especially normal people and processor nodes sub >3nm are still years away at best. Something will have to change, just because it worked the last 15 years doesn't mean it'll work forever.

i mean if you think about it, we've been working for the last 15 years, and we'll likely be working forever.

But that's exactly it. We've had a sweet spot for a while and that is ending right now. Look at 14nm++++++++ vs AMDs 7nm shit. Barely any performance increase in single core. Multi core is our only hope and the retards can't even into compression what hope is there they will be able to handle multi threading?
Mark my words there will be a massive uproar in the next 5+/- years with a lot of code monkey losing their jobs.

lmfao, my old af note 3 has 3GB ram
You should have told him: welcome to 2012 nigger

if you have someone interpreting a conversation between you and someone else they take up resources don't they? its more work than you just naively speaking the other persons language, isn't it? please just fucking read the text on your screen and not be an idiot

Does your pass go under business expenses when you file your taxes, iShill?

I don’t have to file taxes since I’m under 26 :3

that's a false analogy because i don't have to wait until the entire conversation is translated. i can just listen to the translator word for word, and they won't spend any more resources than i would listening to it in my native tongue.

This.

Also improvement to the android run time (ART) from android 7 and on
"introduced JIT compiler with code profiling to ART, which lets it constantly improve the performance of apps as they run. The JIT compiler complements ART's current Ahead of Time compiler and helps improve runtime performance."

Quoted from android ART article on Wikipedia. It's why rooting & installing android 9 on my ancient Galaxy S5 sped everything up to the point where it's now completely use able as a daily driver.

at least you have bootloops

Jesus kid. Go write a simple java app and compile for android 5 and up, now do the same for iPhone and compare execution times and memory usage

Android run time environment got a heck of a boost after nougat alright. But for most phones that was 2017 not 2014

Adding more RAM sells phones. But otoh you really think you can buy tiny amounts of ram anymore? Fabs don't make em

Heavy duty computing is done in the cloud. Hell Google stadia will turn smart TVs into thin clients

unused ram is wasted ram

Google Stadia aka this time it will definitely work for sure even though literally nothing has changed™

3gb of ram on a smartphone is perfectly adequa--
>640mb free out of 2803mb with 3 apps opened
oh

I love in Dublin. I have several data centres less than 10km away from me. The latency to them in milliseconds is less than the input lag on an 5 year old LCD TV. Stadia can work, not every game is a fast twitch shooter

>implying I need it all
Nice knowing it'll perform well when I actually want it to tough.

Attached: Screenshot_20190712-093139__01.jpg (1080x1741, 99K)

bass

Dude, the latency was hundreds of ms when they presented it with the servers in the same building. It doesn't matter how physically close you are to a datacenter, packets don't take the geographically shortest route but the cheapest. On top of that at the presentation they literally had ideal direct routing with nothing in between to cause even higher latency than we already saw. Point being from all we've seen latency will be beyond horrid even if you only live 10 km away from the datacenter as has been the case for literally every other game streaming server that has ever been launched and consequently failed.

yikes
