How frequent do you upgrade your PC hardware?

every time something new comes out!

Went to a 2700k from my 1090t when they went on sale in 2012 when ivy bridge came out. Then I dumped a cup of water into my computer and had to pick up a 4960k to hold me buy in 2015. Shitty quad core was holding me back hella so I replaced that shit with a 3600 and im probably going to keep this cpu for the next 5 years as long as I dont yeet it to death.

GPU wise I picked up a used 5830 to replace my grandma teir gt 210 in 2011, next year I picked up a 7950, and then another one later that summer on sale. Then two years later the litecoin boom came so i sold the 7950s at a profit and picked up a 780ti. Then four years after that the 780ti died and ive been on an rx580 since.

My 3600 and 580 handle VR without a sweat, though I might be getting an index later this year or early next year. And depending on how much my 580 chokes I might pick up a navi card.

When the hardware is 3x better, so every 10 years

Once a decade. I'm not a retarded consumerist.

I make about one new major purchase a year and cycle through what's the oldest in my system. Much prefer upgrading incrementally rather than blowing a few thousand all at once on a top tier build.

Last year was GPU, this year I'm going to finally upgrade my RAM and maybe add a M.2 SSD, and the year after I'll get a Ryzen 4000 to drop into my x370 board

Generally get a new computer every 5 years.
Upgrade hard drive at the halfway point.

Ferrets are the best cats

Once every 5 or 6 years maybe? I dont play video games like I used to anymore and everything you can buy today is just overkill for everyday use.
I do nothing on my PC that actually warrants an upgrade or that would make one even noticeable

6-7 years. upgraded 3770k to 3900x

When they finally break.

Computer upgrade history has been 5 years, 5 years, 6 years, 5 years, 5 years for the main machine, with my new one only being a month old. And then 7 years and 6 years for my home servers. Mix of Macs and PCs over the years.

Not that often, when I bought a GTX 1080 it was replacing a GTX 680, at the same time I went from an i7 3930k to a Ryzen 1800x. That should last another 5-6 years

every 5 years

as needed

The fuck dude

Did you not overclock that i7 3930k? That's a fucking downgrade.

Had an athlon 64 x2 and 8500GT rig since 2006. In 2017, i couldn't bear it anymore, so i killed it with a wrong bios update. Mom had no choice but buy a 70$ Dell vostro 230 with a core 2 duo pentium. I later upgraded it to a c2q Q9400 and HD 7750

A better question is how frequently do I uninstall Windows Updates!
*Rimshot*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
God please kill me they put me on a watch list and I cannot do it myself

when my current pc stops working

Used to do it every 1.5 or so for years since I started in 2014.
Stopped because i don't give a shit anymore and grew up.
I got a job now so no gaymen. I have a 2600x and gtx 1080

I only "upgrade" when I find something better at the thrift store.
