>State budget & CURRENCY
>Post at least some attempt at a parts list
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing:
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming
>R3 2200G - Light 30-60fps gaming (dGPU optional).
>R5 2600 - Good 60fps+ gaming CPU; great value
>R5 3600 - midrange; good for all but the absolute highest end GPUs
>R7 3700X/9900k - Overkill FPS for most GPU/monitor pairings
>R9 3900X - Gaming+Streaming/Extreme Productivity.

RAM:
>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks ONLY for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 minimum
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP

Graphics cards based on current pricing:
1080p
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>GTX 1660 - higher fps / more demanding games
>RX 5700 - even higher FPS
1440p
>RX 5700 - 75-100fps+ in most games. Wait for 5700 XT non-blower cards for higher end
>RTX 2080ti - Highest possible FPS, but poor value
2160p (4K)
>RTX 2070 Super OC - budget option. Turing performance scales better into 4K than Navi does.
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Wait for non-blowers if considering the 5700 XT. 5700 blower is fine and comparable to 2060S noise levels, due to being low power.

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>Yes, adaptive sync (freesync) is important
>A 256GB+ SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor
>NVMe don't give faster boot/load times than a fast SATA SSD
>"Bottleneck checker" sites don't work
>Don't use Speccy, use hwinfo instead
>See "more" for VRM chart

Considering to upgrade in the near future, currently got a phenom 2 1055t with a 50% underclocked Hd5770.
Although I'm happy with its power, the noise level is especially annoying

Do after market cards generally have a higher failure rate?
I want to trade in my 2070 founders Edition for an after market card since the FE has obnoxious coil whine but I've been burned by faulty after market cards before.

decided to get 2 of these and put them in raid-0

I'm going for the semi-cheapo b450 and 3700x route so I can't even benefit from those supposed 3600 Mhz gains on my ram. Should I just go for 3200 and not bother or try to get one that can easily OC to 3466?

Thoughts on this build
pcpartpicker.com/list/CQt9fH

Also ideally I would like to do 1440p gaming what would be my best bet for a graphics card and should I wait if I can get a good 1080 for real cheap?

Honest question, whats the next big thing to wait for? Ive been waiting 9 years to build a new PC, im running short of excuses to buy a new build, what should I wait for or is it the right time to upgrade?

Are there Chinese brands of CPUs

Curious

how good is wraith prism?

Corsair LPX or Gskill ripjaws V
both 3200 2x8 cl 16
for ryzen 3600x

>so I can't even benefit from those supposed 3600 Mhz gains on my ram
Why not

You dumb or what m8? 4000+ works easily on B450 as long as you have Zen2 CPU.

Almost as good as your mom's bj

How important are PWM fans?

buy 3200 cl14

PowerColor vs Sapphire?

x570 as in the motherboard, not the gpu?

If the 3700x is pointless for games, what's the recommended motherboard and ram for 3600 or 3600x then?

Huawei, but it's all phone processors

Just gonna repost in this thread, could I have some thoughts on upgrading to this:
uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/JWwyvn
from pic related for a gaming PC? Is AMD definitely the way forwards now?

Attached: specs.png (603x459, 104K)

Actually pretty damn good.

surprisingly okay

Ah that's a big brand so it's not funny

>need good motherboard for amd 3600
>ask Jow Forums
>msi is shit
>asus is shit
>asrock is shit
>gigabyte is shit

WELL WHICH BRAND IS NOT SHIT YOU FUCKING NIGGERS?!

Attached: 658.jpg (600x886, 35K)

My Ryzen is running below room temperature faggots

if you need 16 cores, september for the 3950x
otherwise you can buy now as x570's are the first boards with pcie4

All of them are shit

just make your own motherboard brainlet

I made this flowchart just for you.

biostar

You can't go wrong with MSI B450 Tomahawk or Mortar, they are one of the best B450 mobos out there.

Avoid asus (shit quality) and asrock (shit bios). Rest are fine.

asrock is really good though
it's just a shame this time around that they raised their prices a lot on the premium boards, usually they're a lot less expensive than the competition

Any point in upgrading anything atm if I have 6700k and 1070 gtx? GPU starts to bottleneck a bit but I feel like 2070 RTX and 5700 just aren't good enough/cheap enough to justify jump.

If you're getting the 16 core Zen 2 also remember to order a yearly supply of liquid nitrogen.

What are the chances it's the CPU that's roofing my ram at 3400 and not the mobo,,, and this same mobo with a 3600x will let me get that ram at 3600mhz

What's the best RAM that a 450 can support? I think only 570 boards support the new modules.

mortar got a new bios today so it might be fine, but i'd hold off the tomahawk for now, a lot of people are having issues

Don't expect to get any real, trustable information on here. Most people are here to confirm their own purchase biases

from my personal experience gigabyte has been okay

Gigabyte is the gold standard best vrm and perfect bios
just kidding
asus msi or asrock

>6700k
I don't think the bottleneck is the gpu.

>t. lives in saudi arabia

I bought the gigabyte X570 aorus elite
did I fuck up?

Like every other forum and subreddits are literally cope-chambers.

I'm running it with TridentZ 3200CL16 and everything is just fine. You don't need anything else for a 3600.
My friend just bought Tomahawk + 3600 and he has no issues with it.

brainlet here

what is the current bottleneck?
GPUs? CPUs? applications?

HELP

>Most people are here to confirm their own purchase biases
true

might be overkill
could have saved money and use it for GPU

better than water cooling.

what are your other components?

I'm talking from experience, I've been using MSI products for years and didn't have any issues. Maybe I'm just lucky, who knows.

how does trident z compare with ripjaws v?

Calm down shill. I play at 3440x1440.

3600 with b450, 3200 16gb, best video card you can afford.

It's always been GPUs for games, AMD and Intel are having a field day selling gaymers double the processing power that they need.

>though mine was delayed until august because of ddr4 shortages
>today get a message saying it's coming on monday
feels good man

3900x
haven't decided on gpu yet, maybe waiting for the non-reference navis

are b350 obsolete now that ryzen 3000 is out?

Is a 2080 overkill for 1440p/95hz?

you'll be fine

4th repost

What matx motherboard do I pick for intel i5 8400?

Any suggestions at least what to avoid?
What's wrong with my question?

I don't really know, I purchased TridentZ for muh RGB.

Don't listen to him, a 3700x is indeed overkill for now, but when you upgrade again in the future you will thank your self for not cheaping out on the CPU.

t. non-competitive casual gamer

no

no, it's safe to skip this gen with both. I'm running a 3400G and Vega 64 with no issues.
3400G is about the same as a 6700K.

Hey guys, looking for a bit of help.

Just upgraded my mobo (b450 tomahawk), CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) and ram.

Connected everything up, but pressing the on button does nothing, PSU doesn't spin up or anything. I'd like to say the mobo is DOA, but I had the shop upgrade the bios before sending it out to me.

Is it possible I've shorted it without noticing and it's my fault? It would be a pretty big coincidence that my PSU that was working fine yesterday suddenly died today with all of this.

If the frequency and timings are the same, there is no difference. They get the memory from the same manufacturer and just slap their plastic and branding on it.

aight
also if you happen to have experience with corsair what do you recommend about gskill vs corsair

Help me lads. Do I take the 1440p 60hz pill or the 1080p 144 hz pill? Just got a 3600 and plan on getting something in the 1660 ti range.

games I'm interested in off the top of my head are WoW, gaylo master chief collection, civ 6 and cyberpunk. I'm thinking if I'm building in the $1000 I should just stick with 1080p no?

double check connections and standoffs

My advice is to check if your pc posts before you put everything in your case.

>Do I take the 1440p 60hz pill or the 1080p 144 hz pill?
seconded

definitely 1440p 60hz. 144 by itself is a meme.

...

the latter, as adaptive sync does a good job of smoothing out any drops you get from 144 fps

It's a valid budget option for 3700 and under.

If you take the 1440p pill be ready to upgrade your GPU soon if you plan to play anything newer.

Lmao 3200c16 is fucking trash

>What's wrong with my question
Why do you have an 8400? Why don't you already have a mobo for it? Why does it even matter which you would pick?

I think you can't go wrong with either, just buy whatever you like more.

I am kinda pissed that b450 memeboards increased in price since new zen release, so i am probably going to buy overpriced x570 out of spite.

>coping over the fact you overpaid for your ram

Seriously, CSGO updates that make the game twice as heavy was one of the best moves of the industry lately. A game that is played by competitors and shit, requiring hundreds of fps, used to be lightweight and now requires you a super expensive PC to run it at these fps

thanks

It outperforms 3600.

Even with a 1660ti? Depending on the monitor I got my plan was to either get an RX580 and upgrade in like a year or a 1660 ti and upgrade in like a year and a half to two. I'm trying to keep within a budget so the 580 has appeal but it feels stupid to spend more on the CPU than the GPU

Check the on off switch on the PSU lmao retard

What?

No retard I bought 3000c15 for cheaper than your 3200c16 and I'm running it at 3400c16

Yeah, but it's more so on anonymous sites like Jow Forums. You can make a bullshit comment and never be held to account for it. On forums with accounts and a name attached to you, people will learn over time who to trust and who not to trust

You see it on every board here. /o/, Jow Forums, Jow Forums, etc. It's fun to shitpost, but anyone making decisions based on advice they get here are just dumb

looks pretty flat to me

Attached: tomahawk.png (902x459, 21K)

>super expensive PC
I'm playing CSGO on 1280x960 at over 350fps with a $200 CPU and $100 GPU lmao.

Two years ago that same setup would get a bunch more fps.

Retard here
bought pretty much all of my pc component and am waiting for deliver
it just occurred to me that i didn't buy any connectors for ssd and hdd and PSU etc
are they included in the case connectors?

Attached: 1562174660581.jpg (1080x928, 110K)

t. esport faggot that doesn't understand what a game is

psu connectors come with the psu
hdd/ssd connectors come with the case

Tfw an used rx580 costs 76% of your wage
