Nope, you're very accurate. For games you have native Steam, proton for things that aren't native, and Wine/DXVK for anything else. Linux is far easier to maintain by nature of being smaller and less retardedly bloated. You say registry editing? I say motherfucking text files. They're classic and they still work perfectly well. And of course Windows is security swiss cheese. Granted, that is partly because they focus on making it easy to download programs off a jewgle search and clicky clicky the .exe file as opposed to repositories, but they still designed it poorly. Linux is finally working on adding such functionality with Flatpaks, Appimages, and Snaps, and the people behind these at least have the sense to isolate these components away from the rest of the system, so the userland doesn't turn into malware hell like Windows did.

switched to Manjaro from Win 10 literally yesterday because I had an autism fit about privacy (factory reset my phone and removed all Google related shit, obviously not logging in to Google, downloaded F-Droid and use all FOSS now and then realized I can't be using Win 10 if I want to at least somewhat privatize my shit). Anyway, Manjaro is..ok. It took a bit to set it up properly and it's kinda dodgy when it comes to plugging the laptop into an external monitor and it doesn't recognize my keyboard upon boot if it's plugged into USB 3.0 (the other USB ports work fine, so it's not a big deal)... For browsing the internet, torrenting shit, watching movies and listening to music it's working great. Not looking to switch back at the moment.

I personally install every vcredist that I know I'll need on Day 1, among other libraries to avoid having programs ever crash on me. The only way a program can crash on my end normally, is always a mistake from the developer. In contrast, I had to google a bunch of things to have Wine work on my end correctly, simply installing it wouldn't cut it.

When I use my DJ controller on Linux and have Mixxx (the FOSS equivalent of Serato) open, none of the audio from anything else can play. Usually this would be a good thing since you wouldn't want dumb shit you didn't plan for to play over your music during a live set, but I'm trying to follow video tutorials, and when Mixxx is open then for some reason videos in Firefox stop playing and loading, so basically you can either have Mixxx open or everything else open. When I do this on Windows 7, everything works the expected way without me having to fuck with any audio settings. I've tried Googling the solution before (actually DuckDuckGo'ing but that doesn't roll off the tongue as easily lol) but couldn't find anything because no one who uses Linux does anything outside of programming on it.
FWIW, this is coming from a former Linux apologist.

You have no way to view chip temperatures out of the box, and once you configure them you don’t know what is what because they all have incomprehensible names. Static in the fact it doesn't receive feature updates that doesn't actually translate in to you having to reboot any less. Yeah it doesn't have UWP shit apart from the settings app, so it's useful if you want to save like a gig of space on the 30 gig install that windows is. Also you will find after about 5 years of use many drivers like nvidia and many programs like photoshop will just not support it anymore. I've used it LTSB 2016 for a couple years and just switched to enterprise because it makes more sense.

Not trying to tell you what to use, LTSC/LTSB is absolutely fine, I would question whether it actually performs better though, for a really low end machine it might be worth it, but at that point why not install a linux distro, unless there's something on windows you really need to run on a low end machine. I'm presuming you're using LTSC with the nvidia machine because LTSB wont work with the latest nvidia drivers and I wouldn't expect nvidia to support LTSC 2019 for the next 10 years so you will inevitably have to switch to current branch. Overall I prefer LTSC because it comes with a more desirable config by default but it's effectively the same as current branch for the majority of people.

If you make general use applications you need it to properly build and test them. For daily use though, no, not really. Even with games, systems like lutris/proton work really well for running things native to windows on linux and windows doesn't really have anything else that useful that linux doesn't, I'd even go as far to say that outside of C#, windows is actually quite a pain in the ass to develop applications for.
