CPUs based on current pricing:
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming
>R3 2200G - Light 30-60fps gaming (dGPU optional).
>R5 2600 - Good 60fps+ gaming CPU; great value
>R5 3600 - midrange; good for all but the absolute highest end GPUs
>R7 3700X - High end, higher FPS.
>R9 3900X - Gaming+Streaming/Extreme Productivity. Gaming w/ SMT on flunky due to software scheduling issues. See "more"

RAM:
>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks ONLY for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 minimum
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP

GPUs based on current pricing:
1080p
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>GTX 1660 - higher fps / more demanding games
>RX 5700 - even higher FPS
1440p
>RX 5700 - 75-100fps+ in most games
>RTX 2080ti - Highest possible FPS, but poor value
2160p (4K)
>RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing performance scales better into 4K than Navi does.
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Navi launch drivers have issues, esp. w/ OC. Wait for AIB if considering the XT. 5700 blower is alright, due to low power. AIB models come mid-August.

how did i do
mainly for gaming

boys why cant I OC my cpu any further?
idk if its silicone meme or mobo or psu
on 4690k can only get stable on 4.2ghz

I'm setting up an egpu for my thinkpad p71
I was looking at using a mantiz, I'm not worried about productive workloads, this would just be for gaming.
What GPU should I slot into it? Is there any other concerns I should have?

Want to upgrade my 1700 to a 3700x.
Mobo is Asus x370, GPU is 1080ti.

Is it time to nab a cheaper b450? I assume the 1080ti is gonna keep me good until 3000 series cards come out.

> a general where the information changes based on the opinions of who decides to post it that day

epic

where 2060 super for 1080p no one is getting a 1660 for new games

ryzen 3000 is working fine on my x370 mb. Just update bios and youre golden.

What ram for a 3900x lads?
All this perfect timing stuff is really off putting, What's some solid ram to get with good performance? Give me a few examples please of budget and mid range.
Possible for a pairing with 3900x or maybe the 3700x.

Awesome. I already got everything ready to go but I didn't see anyone really talking about first gen boards

Replace that ssd with an nvme drive, 970 500gb and replace the 3600x with the 3600.

Well, since you use the sharpening image in your op, I guess I will post these.

Attached: Vampyr 2 001.png (1920x1080, 2.39M)

For the 3700x, which is better: stock cooler or hyper 212?
Opinions on best ram set, currently have tridentz 3600mhz 16gb on the way.

Is this a good build for gay ming and some light rendering and video editing? Whats the best motherboard for the 3000 series?

and last one. Guess which one is the new radeon sharpening, a regular Reshade sharpening, and the default.

Attached: Vampyr 2 003.png (1920x1080, 2.57M)

To add, I'm probably worried for no reason, but should there be any GPU bottlenecks with this setup?

Why would there be? 1080 ti is a fine card.

Looks solid, but I'd worry whether or not the B450 motherboard comes with bios. Check if you can flash your motherboard bios with just flash drive as well as that will fix potential issues.

msi.com/Motherboard/B450-GAMING-PLUS
Looks like it comes with the 3000 series bios

is it just the tomahawk having issues updating to 3000 bios or all msi? afraid to buy a b450 due to issues many seem to be having?

But you're not buying from MSI directly, you're buying from outlet store. Who knows when these were stocked.

Well, /pcbg? what do you guys think.

I'm doing a really sff build in a few weeks. From the stuff I'm transferring over: gigabyte ab350n, ryzen 2600, l9a cooler, 16 gb ram, evga 1070, and 500gb sata ssd. The case I'm moving into is a Dan A4. If I get an m.2 drive, is it worth it to run a RAID? And are there any better slim fans for the cooler? I hate the noctua color

Attached: 1450129700462.jpg (2000x1303, 448K)

Man the 3600 stock cooler makes a pretty annoying sound
What are some good but cheap cpu coolers?
Is the hyper 212 black the only real low price option?

how cheap do you want to be?

>raid
Not worth it given m.2 nvme read/writes are ~ 2GB/s already

Any good ips monitors for 1080p 144hz?
Should I wait for new ones to be released? If thats ever gonna happen...

Attached: 1545005515970.png (630x399, 644K)

Don't wanna go more expensive than the one I named so 30 bucks or lower.

>hyper 212
Its a meme. There are better cooling solutions on amazon. Just search "AM4" cooling.

this guy talks a bit at the end comparing this cooler to the wraith stealth that the 3600 uses

specced out this fucker for a friend. hes hoping to do some gaming and possibly delve into streaming and video editing. budget is close to 1000$ as possible (but will consider alternate parts that are more expensive if you can justify the spend).

pcpartpicker.com/list/YF4jfH

>he insists on an optical drive but he wants to install windows 7 so this might be easier for him when windows finally boots but can no longer recognize the USB drives without the current gen chipset drivers which are on the CD that comes with the board.

Thots?

Seems good, thanks for the recommendation

>1660
Shill. RX 590 can be bought for $170 on sale or used.

I need some suggestions for case fans. I basically want near dead silence if possible.

my rough spec sheet: pcpartpicker.com/list/DvvWxG

NXZT or Notuca? Is the be quiet brand a meme or is it actually good?

bequiet is not a meme brand

>replace the 3600x with the 3600.
not that guy, but why?

Is the ROG Hero VIII overkill for a 3700X and two SSDs?

So basically with the new AMD tech there is next to no reason to play at actual 4k right? 1800p scaled and sharpened 99 percent as good?

I find it weird more people dont talk about this. Its even better way to squeeze out performance than making a more powerful GPU, and it doesnt cost more.

Whats a good cooler for a 3700x in a silverstone sg13?

I'm using a corsair SF600 SFX power supply, but I'm not sure whether to use an air cooler or a 120mm radiator.

>120mm watercooler

Its not all that good yet

Every video ive seen says otherwise.

pcpartpicker.com/list/rZYHdX

Wanna get this as an upgrade and maybe a better monitor down the line (current one is 60 hz). Picked the b450m since apparently you can flash it to be ryzen compatible and that would save a couple bucks

For the most part, it seems that way. It's most certainly a superior upscaler than what we've had in the past, and could help the PS5 achieve 60 FPS in a psuedo-4k resolution.

It's all the SG13 supports friend.

Should I buy a Western Digital Red 1TB ?

I want a quiet Hard Drive and don't need much space.

Attached: 1561643427869.png (200x200, 33K)

to add to my question, what are some good fans for good air flow but are also dead silent (or as close as possible to that)?

the bigger the quieter.

default, radeon, reshade? or you changed something in the settings, if you use reshade which shader did you use?

nvme makes no diff in gayming

Anything I should change on this build before pulling the trigger? I'm mainly going to use it for light gaming until I can save up more money to upgrade to a dedicated GPU and a better CPU.

pcpartpicker.com/list/tBsPMZ

Shadow wings 2 140mm

001 default
002 radeon sharpening
003 reshade

reshade used was ironically "unsharp", but it still makes the game look sharper than the default TAA x6
[unsharpmask.fx]
BlurRadius=4
BlurOffset=1.000000
BrightClamp=0.500000
DarkClamp=0.495000
Strength=0.300000

Really the fucking irony if using TAA to reduce jaggies and aliasing, then having to use sharpening (and even blur filters) giving you a more clean image.

Form factor? PCIe, USB, or on-board?

I have a MSI B350 Arctic. Can I 3700x without exploding?

currently using it for a 1700 and could use the increased clock and IPC.

Best Mini ITX for Ryzen?

GPU usage with all 3 options on the same image would be great. How does unsharp compare to no AA?

I heard a few days ago that Navi might get a few more fps when used alongside a Ryzen 3000 instead of Intel... or maybe it was the other way around.
Anyway, is that true? I know for sure I'm getting a 3000 series cpu, but I don't know what gpu team to pick for 1440p 144hz. I'm willing to splurge if it gets more fps out of MHW

Best sharpening shader for Reshade? I tried AdaptiveSharpen but it has too much of a performance impact.

Can you set a temporary files folder like on ShadowPlay for AMD ReLive?

Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WiFi

And if not X570, MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC

Anything I should switch around?

Attached: build.jpg (1475x764, 172K)

2060 to 5700
non RGayB ram
less ram 2x8, you're overpaying for extra Gb that aren't gonna be used

Why an WD RE drive? I'd reconsider a QLC SSD as your primary (though they work perfectly fine as a bulk storage drive). Consider Corsair MP510 or HP EX920/ADATA SX8200 (not Pro)
650W PSU is a bit overkill. You can run a good 450W or if you don't want to run the fan most of the time, a 550W.

Cases are subjective but you don't really need to spend $200+ on a case when that money can be better spent on the graphics card to go up to a 2070 Super or 5700XT

Are you overclocking? If not, remove the CPU cooler.
Get a cheaper X470 board.
If you need 32GB, get a cheaper and faster pair that doesn't have RGB. If not, get an even cheaper and faster set at 3600MHz.
Are you using this build for gaming? If so, ditch the 660p and get a consistent WD Blue 3D M.2 SSD.
Either get a Super card or wait for the RX 5700. OG RTXs are now obsolete.
Get a good Fractal Design case like the Define R6, don't get gaudy Corsair cases.

Are ASUS Strix GPUs actually shit?
I remember everyone wanting them for GTX 10s but I remember a handful of people here saying that MSI and EVGA are better, why?

Ree I had a drive but it was too loud so I replaced it but the replacement is too fucking loud too what's going on? Greens are supposed to be some of the quieter drives right? Why are they both making loud magnetic head noises constantly? I doubt it's the mounting.

Attached: adult-attractive-beautiful-2215205.jpg (640x959, 111K)

I'm overclocking my 3200g integrated gpu and my motherboard doesnt have an option that makes the soc voltage only raise when the igpu is stressed.
Is it too bad to run soc at 1.25v 24/7 as opposed to only when gaming or editing?

Always get EVGA if you can get a card from them that matches MSRP, their coolers are top tier and their warranties are long.

Hard drives are loud you idiot. Greens are not quieter, their gimmick is that they park the heads when not in use, saving watts.

ASUS is just obnoxiously expensive.
A 2060 Super overclocked by them is $470 if that says anything

I'll switch that stuff around thanks
Not planning on overclocking but I want to use it for gaming and video editing

but that's the price of a top end gpu, it's normal

The 2060 Super is not a top end GPU though, it's literally the "budget" option of the Super series.

>top end
>2060s
more like budget
top end would be at least 2070s

IT'S FUCKING DISTRACTING

go ssd if noise is a problem

>removed one of two fans on my NH-D15 cpu cooler with the remaining one in between the two fin towers blowing to the back
>lowered the voltage on the cpu fan to next to nothing
>gpu fans are off unless the card gets up to 60C where they will go to only 35% speed
>placed old 200mm fan on top blowing down on the motherboard
>2 140mm noctua fans blowing at GPU grille on the side
>1 old case fan sucking out on the PSU

its so fucking quiet now holy shit
its hideous but with these acceptable temps and barely audible fans i can get used it
pic related has some temps while running a game
now i can use my open back headphones in peace and quiet

Attached: cooliest.jpg (5568x3119, 3.49M)

Stop recommedning the 970 to people, buyer's remorse retard.
But yes get a better SSD. You can get a 1TB SX8200 or Inland Premium for only 50% more money.

Isn't the reshade just a copy of AMD's open source algo?
Yeah I don't really see the difference between the last two, except that the texture in the cloth comes out more in the second, but I'd presume that RAS is more performant.

(N)IPPON THUNDER

Seems solid assuming you can update BIOS on the board somehow.
Hard to say the GPUs are good choices without prices. I'd assume the 5700 is a better deal. Plus AMD CPU+GPU seems to perform better.

>is RAID worth
no

>stickers on box and stickers on cooler is the same thing
>your box gets hot and the stickers fall off

pcpartpicker.com/list/xgk7fH
Rate 1st gaming pc

For the money not too bad.
I think it'd have been worth the extra $15-20 to get 3200 MHz RAM though.

>You can get a 1TB SX8200 or Inland Premium for only 50% more money.
aren(t they less reliable than samsung? my plan was 500Gb for best value today and possibility to add another one in a few years for cheaper yet without compromising on quality and reliability

That's pretty much an ideal budget build except that the PSU has RGB yet isn't even semi-modular.
Oh and you're putting a mATX board in a ATX case. Get a smaller case.

Check the TBW for 1TB on each.

pretty good for the money
but as said, go for 3200MHz ram instead
corsair lpx vengeance or gskill ripjaws V

I would recommend this, yeah.
Western Digital Blue SSDs are pretty good too and cost less than Samsung, if you wanna save some money.
