Does Jow Forums love their job?

Be honest.

i dont have a job.

Fucking hate it, I do pretty much nothing and make good money doing it. But it's boring and I deal with retards.

I wouldn't do it for free, so I guess not.

No.

why don't you do something else while there? like reading some shit

Is working in tech really that bad?

I hate SAP

love ? no.
but its the best job i ever had to its cool

I don't have a job, pls gib @rothchild on kik

Because when I'm really disengaged, I REALLY disengaged and it's hard to find motivation.
No, my position is.

yes, I love being a NEET

I'm a network admin.
I absolutely hate my job. I wanted to quit earlier this year but my boss caught wind of it so he offered me a $20000 raise. I only took it because there's no way someone with my experience could get a similar job offer. At the time I had less than 2 years of job experience and a CCNA.
My fellow "network administrators" are genuinely retarded.
I have maybe three competent co-workers on a team of 12.
Every fucking day I have conversations like "no, CRC errors cannot travel past their segment", or "no, you cannot use 192.168.1.1 on a WAN interface.

Attached: 1455068063153.png (500x532, 189K)

I'm sorry, user. Do you work at a small ISP or WISP or something?

i really liked my previous job, got moved to another project which is pretty braindead. Wrote applications today.

Yeah, a regional ISP. We used to have a team of of 15 highly skilled people but we had a mass exodus because of pay disputes.
Our management is so fucking stupid they thought they hired fucking CompTIA A+s and Network+s to replace old admins. Obviously someone with only CompTIA certs cannot manage metroethernet and backbone fiber infrastructure.
Our call center staff who work with resi and business customers get bitched at every day by angry customers. People are trying to get out of their contracts and we're paying credits out the ass.

>Our management is so fucking stupid they thought they hired fucking CompTIA A+s and Network+s to replace old admins
I'm so mad I can't write a coherent sentence

no, I fucking hate it and it pays below the minimum wage, I hate being a wagie

It's okay, but I wouldn't say I love it.

It's my first real software engineering job out of college. The salary is absolute dog shit. The software team has been reduced down to myself and another colleague and was about a dozen people several years ago before I joined the company which leads me to believe that they are going to either axe me or the other guy after the project I'm working on is finished. I don't know if I'm paranoid, but my managers have been incredibly nice to me, almost too nice. The same kind of warmth and cordiality you'd give a prisoner on death row while serving their last meal. I've been interviewing with another company who is keen on hiring me, so after I get an offer I will quit. Sometimes I regret ever pursuing programming as a career. I love the work that I do, but despise how most companies view software developers.

I'm in college, took 3 courses on networking and have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

i'm a CNC operator vertical carousel, it's...ok. I mostly make big slewing rings (oversized fidget spinners, if you will). you have to do both physical and mental work, which can get kinda stressful but it pays better than any other job I could get with my education and I guess there's room for promotion. can't say I love it, though.

Attached: SinB.full.89528.jpg (800x1200, 96K)

on a vertical carousel*

Sounds like my job except retards are just my coworkers.

I hate it and love it.

I draw porn and have a big patreon. I make more money than most people where i live 10 times over who all work a "real" job. Also I work from home so I make whatever hours I want (sometimes i just take 2-3 week long breaks while getting paid).

But I've been at it for 8 years now and i just draw it in zombie mode more or less, I want to move onto other sfw things i'm interested it.

This.

I'm a receptionist. It's fucking awesome. I just chat with people and do repetitive no stress work. I make 20 grand a year, but my life is actually fucking amazing. I make just enough to pay rent, feed myself, and get high once in a while. People who work hard are dumb as fuck. What are you spending all your time and life for? A shinier car?

As much as I CAN love a job, I suppose. Interesting problem spaces, mad respects, decent money, very large amount of influence on whether the product succeeds or fails. Could stand to have a little more design autonomy, but I can smooth talk my way into almost always getting to do it my way.

I love my job for 6 months, then I realize I could be making more and I work with retards, so I apply to other jobs. I have never worked at a job for 9 months, and now I make 130k.

I usually entertain myself by timing how fast I can put out a feature with 100 percent test coverage. I hate asnyc tasks - putting a request here to get access to this and that. Fuck that shit is aids.

I'll probably stay at this new job for a while though

Attached: drStone.png (641x297, 203K)

I dislike it but I don't completely hate it. I started off doing grunt shit like wiping drives and certifying them. Now I'm a lead technician so I get to fuck around and make sure someone else is doing the grunt work. It's boring and unfulfilling but it pays the bills.

why is he trading shitcoins

>despise how most companies view software developers
tell me more

Nah, I just dump my money in a pile (i.e. bank account) while spending about the same as when I was making 40k (which was already putting a lot in savings). I do it for the power high and the creative fulfillment. Hell, when I'm not working hard at work I'm generally working hard on something else.

i wish i was you

No. I have been a webdev for 1 year and i am already burnt out.

I am now questioning what i am doing with my life.

maybe we should unionize

This is money is okay and it does help to supplement my near-zero student income, but I can't stand it.

I started studying web dev 6 months ago and I'm about to lose my shit.
I should just build a farm.

Same bro. Occasionally something will happen to make it interesting, but I'm mainly reading documentation, learning sepples or studying for certs. I want to apply myself.

yeah its not too bad most days
i got promoted to lead dev on a project about a year ago and have decent amount of freedom

Not at all. I'm considering an offer from another employer at this moment. I'll probably dislike that job too though so who knows

You should ask for a refund
CRC errors and private IP addresses are Networking 101
Any network admin that doesn't understand those two concepts should be fired.

How do you spend 8 hours every day behind your desk and not hate it/become crazy?

No it sucks, but I make 150k a year and work remote so I can pretend to love it

>tfw just started learning
I have no choice, I must keep going.

Full time NEET, so yeah I do.

How many hours a day do you spend on your computer?

nope

God fucking damn I am jelly.
I make 70k and have to work with people who act like 30-40 year old children. I hate it.
How to remote job? Are you in a stable roll in a big company or freelance?

Work at a FAANG. Make great money a few years out of school.

Super depressed and miss my hometown in Canada.

This. I also want to remote.

Mostly freelance but I have a recruitment company that secures me tons of contracts and a lot of them last for at least a year. I'm doing government work right now which can potentially end up in getting myself a lot more work in future.

Since it's government work it tends to be a bit overe gineered and bloated, but the code is surprisingly not that bad as far as these things go. It's mostly slow as fuck getting access to shit I need like servers and what not.

Since I got through the recruitment company they take a lot off the top, but they handle my health insurance and taking out taxes as well as getting me jobs so they deserve a cut.

I also have no choice, because I remember my last, non tech related job, made me want to crash my car from monday to friday.

>FAANG
One of these things is not like the others. Might as well include Tesla and Uber if you're going to put Netflix in there.

I'm this fag. My friend works at Netflix and makes close to 300k a year, although he lives in LA while I live in bumfuck nowhere so I probably have more purchasing power than him regardless

FAAG does seem more apt

When I finished uni I had a really hard time finding work, took eight months
I was about to join the army, but ended up with a comfy office job at a science company
It's good, and if I'm not complete shit I'll automatically get promoted at the end of the year

Attached: 1562270977623.jpg (750x562, 39K)

Not saying anything about the job prospects; just googled what FAANG meant and the quality of stocks between FAAG and N is night and day.

What qualifications do you need to start doing that?
I only have one year of working experience, a bachelors, and some certs, while working as backend rest api developer.
If I just get really good at making json inputs/output endpoints is there good opportunity for me to become you, or is there some other stuff I need like UI work?

>4 days on, 4 days off
>~$85k a year
>easy

Thank god I didn't focus on a career in cs/web development/anything technology related

Red teamer here - I have fun most days. Report writing sucks though.

Help desk for a "small" company that supplies equipment we support 24/7. Pretty much I
>take calls from customers and make a ticket for every single call when if it's silent
>remote into devices to troubleshoot anything and everything that could go wrong
>coordinate with other companies (have to be very sociable) to get things done that we can't do remotely
>have to do tedious admin work on our databases
>also do general IT garbage for other employees, and if it's a higher-up I have to drop everything no matter what I was doing

I hate it and every day I consider just not coming in. IT was a mistake

I'm a senior software dev/"service architect" for a very large company which makes software as its business. I wouldn't say I love it since some of the stuff I work on pretty often is fairly boring and not very interesting, but it's a fine job since it pays well, it's not stressful, the hours are pretty great (7.5h a day) and overtime is actually discouraged. I get quite a lot of money for not a lot of stress, so my work/life balance is about as great as it could possibly be with a full-time job.

currently doing a paid college internship till December 3 months webdev building a new site for a business and then im tech support for three months which is more systems admin since the permanent guy is stretched so thin tldr. business people fuckin hate IT guys im relaxed about it because its good pay and im gone at December but im never gonna work IT in a company not in computing fuck that shit

I might be getting a sysadmin job but I'm unsure what a good wage would be if they want to hire me in that kind of position.

If you have previous experience and a degree then you should be good. You just need to market yourself, make a nice spiffy LinkedIn profile. Work on making your resume nice and full of buzzwords and making yourself seem impressive.

Try some job sites. LinkedIn, Glassdoor, hired, and stack overflow. You can also checkout the who's hiring threads on hacker news.

Then you gotta grind some leetcode and start submitting applications and reaching out to recruiters in your area. If you're looking specifically for remote work then you should still do a few interviews locally to get yourself prepared. Then search specifically for that.

Idk it's a numbers game and mostly luck and how well you can sell yourself. Goodluck

what do you do?

I have no job,. I'm just a gigolo with 2 women (I'm not joking). I play at the computah every day and cook/clean/fix the apartment for my 2 lovely girls.
Beat me.

How'd you learn to draw? I'm not eligible for neet dollarydoos so I have to work for money. I'm living off loans right now

I got into the same situation myself in Silicon Valley although it was because of merging with a big company. We do hardware and software, kind of like embedded, so it's tough work compared to most places in the Valley who are only software based.

I was close to resigning but they bumped up my salary to 120k from 90k a year prior after a whole year of no raises and wanting to quit myself. I suspect they saw it in the wind that I might want to leave, but I told a leaving coworker that and they might have overheard or felt it. So I'm stuck trying to see if I can get my salary elsewhere outside of FAANG and get to a point where I can still leave, but I haven't hit my 3 years there yet so not sure if I want to stay that long. Still feels like golden handcuffs.

We had a slightly smaller team, about 9 to 10 people but they bailed to go work for startups or big FAANG companies because our company was treating people like shit and a full year with no raises in a increasing competitive market, and they wonder why they lost our lead engineer and basically everyone else except me, a senior R&D guy who is about to retire, and a mid tier middle aged Chinese dude who started a year ago. We just replaced our lead engineer with an Indian person who is starting beginning of August so can't wait to see what disasters unfold. At least he is well versed in C++ and isn't a code monkey but he has no hardware experience.

Dumb lab tech at an oil refinery. Don't even have a degree although I'm working on one right now.

do you at least get paid

Yes i do.
Work as a tour guide/driver, i drive people around my town and do stops where i show them around,
Pay is great and the tips are also great.

Any suggestions on what certs to go for if you want to get a sysadmin/network admin job ?

How much do you travel? I’m interviewing for a red team position this tuesday and my only concern is having to be away from the wife too much

Yes.

>I'm a goat's herder, making cheese. The work and hours are thought but it's alright to be in constant contact with the nature.

Are there any low-stress tech jobs if you have adhd and no rich parents?

Ya, that's my retards too lol. I don't deal with customers or anything just co-workers retarded mouth breathing retards.

School IT guy

It's amazing. I program, give presentations, sell to clients, architect, it's all fun stuff. My company plans to have my do R&D in the future.

Took a job supporting garbage medical software. Workload is ridiculously low, and we are remote.. Pay is okayish, lot of fucking with your pay goes on though (ie,
our base is around 80k, but can be ~265k depending on what you do, so they are fucking with a lot of money). The software itself is super garbage. CEO is a complete retard who just forces our E. European devs to constantly work on some flavor of the week feature to the point where we have 15 year old products that literally dont work and are constantly working on the next big thing™ while our actual products languish. Will leave in less than a year probably.

Yeah, no, it's low stress until you get into shit like inadequate IT or security and some kid just outsmarted you and changed all the grades or made dumb changes to the school website.

It might be the lowest stress out of all the jobs but you can still get into hot water.

I was an accountant a few years ago. Dabbled in some algorithmic trading. Currently I'm managing a fund for my family and some close friends. But it's kind of a boring life.

Depends on whether or not the engagement requires physical access. If so, and that's your area of expertise, you'll obviously be traveling. Even if it's not, you may need to go along with the team in order to run remote attack phases from a hotel room or something where you can all regroup.

If it's not physical at all (which seems to run counter to the point, but clients sometimes want to exclude it) then you can do everything remotely from a remote hacking perspective.

Definitely ask them for details - I have to travel probably 10-15% of the year, which isn't too bad.

I make CRMs for a few companies and it's amazing, I get to work from home and 99% of the time I just collect free money

unfortunately the other 1% of the time is dealing with ambitious, politicizing cancerous sales shits who have literally tried to commit internal gerrymandering (and tried to get the software out of the picture because I was the only one who could prove it) or dealing with some $8 an hour nigger in the call center who thinks they are clever entrepreneurs for saying the software is down

time and time again I show up with proof and do a better job than the CEO at managing his company, and how later they always fire the dumb fuck once they investigate it because of me. What pisses me off is how they have to "take every case seriously" and we have to go through the same investigation every time. No, the software is not down, it hasn't changed in months, it is always some call center nigger who wants the day off. I had a case where someone in the call center went through 10 different computers (yes really) because they kept pouring coffee on it on "accident"... yeah put them out on their ass after the second computer jesus

I hate it. The stress and the tight deadlines are fucking me up.
I wish i had a normal, physical job where i work my 8 hours a day, get home and don't have to think about the next huge project that's around the corner.

there is no such thing as a low stress tech job they will try to get you on the hook for EVERYTHING. contracts don't mean shit, losers know they can make an impression to the company you're working with by pretending to freak out. there are some exceptions in software but only if they got fucked by another company and look at you as a hero, but it's only a matter of time until they get used to it and forget

Typical Jow Forums poster.

I draw furry porn from home.
Fucking love it.
Best part is that it's a job that will eventually let me out earn like 90% of my country from the comfort of my home and also gives me a skillset to eventually jump into the gaming industry if I feel like it.

Attached: 1557046336671.png (618x822, 540K)

I've been doodling since high school more or less, and then started to look up tutorials and practicing with a cheapo 50$ wacom tablet/pen.

I have a surface pro 3, what tutorials should I look at to get started? The last time I drew seriously was in high school but I quit because I had to focus on my useless AP classes

Are you objectively good or do you just draw that niche shit?

Basically go on youtube and watch some Sycra. Just sit through all of his beginner videos and draw at the same time and you're off to a good start.
youtube.com/user/Sycra

Personally I don't consider myself good, but by furry fandom standards I'm well above average.
Good enough to earn couple of hundred per picture.
But those standards are pretty low and shouldn't even be considered.
I'm around two or three years away from being able to post my stuff on artstation.com and competing with the industry people.
And I do focus on niche shit, because that's just a good marketing move.

Oh shit lots of good stuff here, thanks user. I just want to get good enough to art for my video game so I can be as unsociable as possible

yeah

I don't have a job.
My last job was rearing insects, which is pretty much a farm except with a different smell of shit.
It made me want to kill myself and I worked surrounded by women, so backstabs were on the daily menu.

>implying I wasn't crazy to begin with

I'm a cleaner. No, I don't like it. But it could be worse.

technically I'm unemplyed but I work part-time job in army for some bucks and live with parents
pretty comfy

Attached: horryfying.jpg (899x600, 100K)

I hate my job. Software engineering is so stressful. Working on deadlines decided by other usually less knowledgable people, compensating for unforeseen roadblocks by working later hours, and reinventing the wheel for the 15th time just because a PM wanted something shiny to show off when the battle-tested options work better.

inb4 get a better job - I'm an fte at goog and have things a whole lot better than most of my friends in the industry. It's still stressful, and working your way up to the best SWE job you can obtain still doesn't increase happiness. Mostly just increases your taxes and rent to live somewhere nobody wants to live in
