Not gonna lie, I really wish I did a liberal arts degree instead. At least I would have gained the social skills to work in fast food or retail

Dye your hair pink, and say you are liberal arts dropout.

What are you on about?

A computer/maths related degree from a good university and intact health still almost guarantees people offer you very decent jobs; you even have the option to apply abroad.

It means that 198 people who are not programmers have sent their resume to be considered for the job. OP and a programmer also sent in their resumes.

We have job threads every other day on Jow Forums. If you are serious, post your [redacted] resume, and we will give you feedback.

larp

Refused 200 times a job with a decent (still normal-ish) salary with a world top 10 uni degree in the field?

Yea, I don't believe that shit in the least.

its just as hard to get into fast food as well

>t.

Your resume is shit. Read Harvards guide how to make it better ocs.fas.harvard.edu/resumes-cvs-cover-letters

it's not mine, it's the resume from a stupid r*dditor who also applied to jobs 500 and got rejected for all of them like

what's the point in guides? no one's cv is ever good enough for anyone

just got this feedback from a programming exercise i had to do for a job application
keep in mind the pros were only 2 dot points in comparison
fuck i regularly got HD's in uni
>extreme programming

Hitler was in the German army in WWI so user is actually worse than Hitler

on the plus side they gave feedback, on the negative side it's as if they want you to WORK on a nontrivial project for free there

they all sound pretty legit, you didnt implement the specifications correctly and didnt test

whoever wrote that is illiterate and not suited to his or her job

have sex

I mean yeah, shits bad. A lot worse than the degree-pushers on Jow Forums would have you believe.

I did things "right" myself, graduated with an Information Systems degree, with a 3.2 GPA, my senior year I was part of a software design group that almost founded a software startup as one half of a C corp with the other company being our marketers, while completing an assload of stats classes and working in a network ops facility full time.

I then was unemployed for a year and a half before I got my current gig. I lost count long ago of how many resumes I sent out and how many local meetups I went to. I'm not a sperg, I pick things up quickly, and generally do quality work.

But no, boomer hiring managers want you to dangle yourself on a string for them to play with, or just be an Indian. I'm neither.

So now I only work 4 months out of the year. Its a fucking awesome job that is so specific it would immediately dox me if I gave a hint what it was, but still, that constant rejection I faced from every fucking hiring manager and full of shit gen x'er with a job still stings me, and still pisses me the fuck off and motivates me to find something else to do.

tl;dr shits fucked yo and it aint getting better with ever more H1B's being allowed in and more STEM grads every year. Find something better to do with your time.

>Information Systems degree

Its your fault for choosing a meme degree retard

Attached: 567456457567.jpg (1462x1462, 411K)

Sorry jobs for pajeets

Attached: ECADF141-8A9E-40C2-B7BF-85AEE8DD68BD.jpg (1411x1951, 1.25M)

its worse for CS, high schooler.

>71 fucking percent
lel and people are still pushing this STEM meme

sorry wytebois, STEM is a big club, and you're not in it

why is this an issue

vote yang and have the pajeets slave away and pay for your healthcare.

you gotta make the path to citizenship harder tho.

Am i fucked anons? Im just starting a degree in CS

>finally got a phone screen interview
I'm gonna make it

Attached: 1512100156133.jpg (254x254, 10K)

You're fucked less than most others, but yeah you still are fucked.
You are basically going to have to adopt the job-hunting strategies of millennials after the crash in 2008.
That shit they told you in high school about CS being the cool way to earn big bucks for smart people (obviously yourself, right?) is fucking false and part of a general strategy to lower wages.

tl;dr not fucked, just be prepared to make significantly less and have to work significantly harder to get a job

no you aren't

>not fucked
>make significantly less and have to work significantly harder

Sounds fucked to me

Attached: 1560718908346.jpg (943x1080, 162K)

in an absolute sense, yeah, its fucked. they've done a masterful job destroying wage and earning power in this country over the last 15-20 years. Every year I've been watching this the requirements get a little tougher and the wages get a little lower.
in a comparative sense, no, you're still going to (probably) be a bit better off than some rando majoring in journalism or something.

although I don't know how much longer that statement will hold for. The amount of pajeets flooding into this country and jacking down wages for
>finance
>tech
>medicine
>law
is only going to get worse; look it up, the "skilled" immigration floodgates are already wide open, they are now investigating ways to knock the dam down entirely.
that's to say nothing of zoomers just like you getting into these careers in college because they have heard for the last decade (literally) that those are the only ways to have a solid chance at a middle class income.
so I'd say yeah, right now you are still a bit better off than others. But I don't know how much longer that will last.

>After applying to 200 places I finally got 2 interviews
>The first was a test of 3 parts spanning 2 weeks with rounds of interviews inbetween filled with ambiguos trick questions, failed on the last part for "not providing the best answer"
>The second one was just having a chat, gave them a firm handshake while looking at them in the eyes and got the job
>Still working with them
We live in a meme world

hey fellow madison user

Stop applying to tech giants situated in literal hell

but user how will my pajeeta/ching chong princess respect me if I am not literally working for facebook?

also I just neeeeeeeeeed that San Francisco lifestyle. I hate living in Missouri.

you could have the best resume ever but if you look or act like a sperg irl nobody will hire you

are you guys serious with applying to literally 200 positions?
not 20, or 2?

So the firm handshake works,huh?

I once sat down and applied to 100 in a single day. It's not rare at all.

>He got a CS meme degree
>He didnt study CE or electronic engineering
>He got a Bsc when Msc is the new norm
lmao, sucks to be you but you chose this path.

Attached: 1422352384728.jpg (539x607, 75K)

If you're a sperg, contact a temp agency.
They have professionals market you to companies so you don't even need to talk to them.

Still have the onsite assessment, HR interview, hiring manager interview and final stage interview to go lad

>be retarded
>decide to get a Bsc in aerospace engineering
>now only chance for employment is to work for soulless military industrial complex
>all these companies actually care about drugs so have to give up degenerate lifestyle
>my only hope of not living a cucked life is to work for a startup, but fat fucking chance since I'm autistic with no professional connections

Attached: 1537379708247.jpg (424x394, 12K)

not much else people can do nowadays. Know why ever more complex application management software is being sold and advertised? It's because most HR depts can't handle the raw volume of applications.

Hate to say it, but largely if you are at the point of needing to respond to online job postings, you're already way behind the curve.

>He got a Bsc when Msc is the new norm
this is kind of my point actually. So many people flooding into STEM that companies can get away with ridiculous bullshit like requiring a candidate to have a fucking masters degree for an entry-level position. A lot of companies won't even hire for an entry level position if you don't already have relevant work experience.

This is just pure economics. The supply of STEM labor is way more than the actual demand.

Even with this you need to do your research. Most staffing companies are staffed themselves with morons who hardly know what they are looking for and instead just spam resumes. It's a step up in likelihood of finding something from spamming job postings boards yourself for sure, but still is a highly unpleasant mess filled with endless rejection.

tl;dr labor prices are fucked guys and its not getting better.

I just graduated with a 2:1 in CS this month in the UK. I had two jobs lined up before I graduated, so I could pick which one I wanted to actually do at the last minute. I'm earning well above the average salary for my area and I only just started.

It's easy af when you're not autistic, or have an awful personality that makes people cringe to be around.

i want to write control software that runs on little microcontrollers and i don't want to be surrounded by an army of arse-kissing "made with ruby on rails with

be a lineman user

they'll outsource it to some indians soon. it'll cost them less than the 22,000 pounds they give you.

Why is it seen as a crime to save business costs amongst the Jow Forumstards on Jow Forums? When you go to the grocery store or electronics store, do you instinctively look for the most expensive shit to buy or something?

>At least I would have gained the social skills to work in fast food or retail

>Fast Food
Lots of engineers are making automated machines for cook millions of burgers

>Retail
the only people i've met that still obsessed with "i want retails jobs" are mexican immigrants. It's literally faster to do self-checkout using the tablet thing.

I think it's good destroy retail and FastFood, because I think any menial jobs we can get rid of allow us to get people working on more frivolous things. Like the military, political maneuvers, etc

Attached: mashiro.jpg (480x639, 32K)

Attached: 1559349347726.png (501x585, 18K)

why should i be happy about having to work harder for less, and standing less of a chance of getting a job in the first place? go on, explain it to me.

They see it like that because it undercuts white men in the process. I certainly don't mind a burger genocide.

> ridiculous bullshit like requiring a candidate to have a fucking masters degree for an entry-level position
How is it ridiculous bullshit? Bsc is only 3 years, first of 1 is basics, 2nd is learning the field and 3rd field specifics. You get 2 years tops to learn field specific stuff which is actually rather broad and nonspecific generalities.

Just look around you, world is full of highly advanced tech. Its only natural that engineering Bsc isnt that useful when your knowledge by design is lacking. Msc is the new norm because world has gone forward, this is just part of a progression that has happened over centuries.

Attached: 1451157296615.jpg (1269x710, 141K)

I literally got my job because I invested my time learning Clojure because I love Lisp and at the interview the guy was actually really impressed by my love of the language that he thought I was the best fit for the job despite me not being THE best. It's just a matter of motivation. Sometimes people will choose you for other reasons than you being good. Being sociable, being motivated about what you do, having passion about certain things will help you. You need to go out of your introverted shell and know how to sell yourself.

Attached: 37235c4.jpg (480x480, 32K)

>Why is it seen as a crime to save business costs amongst the Jow Forumstards on Jow Forums?

Multiple reasons.
1. We know it actually isn't "saving business costs" for most companies, they just want a job done cheap. But hey maybe you like your consulting fees for rewriting pajeet code so of course you would love the current setup.

2. It displaces native workers. The government of a country has a duty to care for its people. That includes making sure its people can make a decent living. Destroying the highest earning professions by letting in (even encouraging) skilled immigration directly harms our population.

>When you go to the grocery store or electronics store, do you instinctively look for the most expensive shit to buy or something?

No, I look for the best value, generally. We all know pajeets do not provide the best value.

Motherfucker, what a stupid fucking post.

because you're not entitled a job in the private sector you dumb zoomer. don't like it? tough. start a business.

boomer/10
>your future and the country my parents fought to protect might be utterly destroyed, but at least I got my leaves blown real cheap!

fuck you

why should i be happy about it? explain to me why i should be happy about it. explain to me why i should not dislike the situation.

This likely does not apply to your market but I'm doing much of what you described working for a small financial technologies webdev startup. Partly because everyobe but me is Russian.

Yeah I wouldn't hire you.

>financial technologies webdev startup
weird meme combination

fintech data science machine learning laravel node full-stack

>just start a business goy
>whoops cant get funding
>whoops cant get government permission
>whoops our businesses will sue you
>whoops now you're blacklisted for being a bad goy

Because the $15 USD minimum wage make americans solely exist to be used as a consumerist force. Consumerism is goal of our economic system's.
Capitalism is interested in selling you one thing that will make your life fulfilled and meaningful. If that happens, you'll should buy again. STEM Productivity will continue to improve, but there will still be plenty of 100,000 USD annual income programmers because in private sector companies are fiercely competing. And in the Pentagon (creating killer robots ) they will all be safe for decades no matter what.

Attached: 1545298801768.png (202x188, 3K)

If you're working in aerospace, drug tests are the least of your worries if you're a degenerate.
Just way until they do a lifestyle investigation for your security clearance.
They ask literally everything - who you associate with, what kind of porn you watch, what your fetishes are.
My coworker said for his they asked if he's ever had sex with a farm animal.

There's basically nothing anyone under 40 can have a degree in that's worth a shit these days. You can do everything your teachers, councilors, lectors and professors tell you to do, and you can do it excellently - you'll still end up in an Amazon warehouse, wearing yourself down with literal slave labor.

Start your own company

>1. We know it actually isn't "saving business costs" for most companies, they just want a job done cheap. But hey maybe you like your consulting fees for rewriting pajeet code so of course you would love the current setup.

We used to hire tons of inexperienced grads before. But only after 2008 crisis did management start to keep track of the data that practically 80% of these fresh grads eventually left the job within 2 years. Training is extremely expensive and time consuming so we literally have no choice but to outsource some parts of our business that are crucial to the bottom line. There is absolutely no guarantee someone highly motivated now, will not just jump ship 6 months later to a competitor. I hope you can understand where I am coming from a business POV how these sorts of things affect us.

i know multiple aerospace engineers who work on satellites with no direct military application. get good son.
>At least I would have gained the social skills to work in fast food or retail
literally more shameful than neetdom.
>what kind of porn you watch
what are the consequences if you lie? asking for a friend...

I did start a company. I'm apps by contract. Hired 1 azn dev ez.

god damn it. I just smoke a lot of weed, but I want to try out acid and shrooms, but nope can't do anything because LAND OF THE FREE, ugh. Beyond that though, I'm pretty normie...

that's actually why I'm going the space track my dude

>i want to write control software that runs on little microcontrollers
Anything embedded then. IOT, medical devices, that sort of stuff.
The big companies that still do embedded development are largely in defense these days. Missile control systems and the like.

>i want to be able to drink on the job now and then
You probably can't have both - unless you're Russian like said.
Embedded development is probably the last area where it's purely professionals.
The laid-back "free snacks and beer!" startups are all web and mobile development where the average worker is who you're trying to avoid.

Got my job by showing the interviewer my imageboard filled to the brim with pornography. A recommendation from a professor at uni might have helped but that could have gone very wrong in hindsight. The moral of the story is passion and personal projects to demonstrate said passion and ability help.

One year out of grad, homos. It wasn't even hard

Attached: 1yearoutofgrad.png (298x93, 9K)

Sounds more like you guys are not trying to incentivise your new hires to stay, rather working them 60hrs/wk @ 40k and wondering why they ditch after 2 years.

>CAD
not jealous at all stupid leaf

It isn't hard if you're smart, but most people aren't smart

vague statement

I'm jealous because weed is legal there and it's not commieformia.

>80% of these fresh grads eventually left the job within 2 years.
Sounds like you need to offer higher wages
>There is absolutely no guarantee someone highly motivated now, will not just jump ship 6 months later to a competitor.
Sounds like you need to motivate them more. Maybe higher wages would help?
>I hope you can understand where I am coming from a business POV how these sorts of things affect us.
So instead you hire pajeets.

No dude, I totally get where you are coming from. You are too cheap to hire quality labor and convince it to stay, so instead you are in favor of importing millions of cheap as fuck pajeets so you can pump out enough shitty work to keep your shit company afloat.

Fuck. You.

Attached: cantpraxisthefrancis.jpg (2000x1333, 364K)

Ok so what, 95k usd? And it's in canada so no healthcare costs. He'll have to pay like 33% tax tho

>cold
>taxes up the ass
>nothing to do
>leftist faggots everywhere

but yeah, WEED LMAO is legal so it's so much better there, huh

that's exactly what it is, this has been going on for so long now that morons like that guy see quality employees as costs, not something to build a company around.
>waaaaah why do I have to spend money on employees?!?!?!?!

All modern buyer-orientated fintech is at least somewhat webdev.

I agree - I will be moving to the states when my wife becomes eligible for TN status. However my percentile for my city is quite high, and rent where I live is quite low.

Attached: betterThanYouJamal.png (887x201, 24K)

what a clown world

>leftist
Ah, so you took the blue pill

pay them better dumbass. If you pay them what other people are willing to pay, do you really think they'll jump ship?

I wouldn't hire anyone who has worked at an Applebee's for 8 years and neither should you.

>Sounds like you need to offer higher wages

Higher wages don't correlate with loyalty. Infact it lowers productivity in the long run. We have so many 50+ employees earning +$100,000 on the payroll that can't even use a simple EXCEL function. We can't even get rid of them due to hundreds of government regulations and legal obligations made decades ago.

>Fuck. You.
If you want to be a clueless zoomer fine with me.

Makes sense, goyim normies dig pretty sites. I do too but not to a point of giving money to a jew

I actually just job hopped and ended up making more than my manager. Sorry you're a middle manager cuck :)

>Higher wages don't correlate with loyalty.
Yes they do.
>Infact it lowers productivity in the long run.
Pure cope, because this:
>We have so many 50+ employees earning +$100,000 on the payroll that can't even use a simple EXCEL function.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you guys are fucking idiots, no wonder you rely on pajeets to keep your shitheap afloat.

learn to compete, pull up your socks, roll up your sleeves, look them straight in the eye, and do what you gotta do buddy

"No, it is THEY who must compete for ME".

For defense work, marijuana isn't a career killer as long as you're clean for the last 3 years.
Acid and shrooms IS a career killer. If you answer "yes" to either of those when asked, you're done for.

But current, active use for any drug is a no-go in defense or any aerospace because if you fuck up people die.

This should be screencapped and spread to future threads. Fucking based.
Just remember the old business strategy of saving pennies to spend dollars. Companies that are trying to find ways of cutting corners will be the first ones to collapse. Its only a matter of time.

Just wait until everyone gets a free college degree handed to them.

Even you will grow old eventually. When you're 50+ you'll wish you had that company healthcare plan when you're neck deep in health problems. Being old is expensive.
