I have an HTC vive, but my room is too small for me to enjoy it to its full potential. What minimum specs does a lap top need for it to work properly?

quit playing gaymes and get a fucking job.

VR is a meme gimmick fad that is already over.

a 1070/vega56 and up should do it nicely, if you plan on upgrading the headset, I'd wait until the current gen's prices have dropped a bit.

Thanks!

I wonder what morons like you will say in 15 years when VR is a mainstream thing that everyone owns.

"b-b-but it used to be a gimmick! it's better now!"

Na, you'll probably say the same thing as all the people who said the internet was a gimmick. Absolutely nothing. You'll forget you were a moron, and move on to calling some other new thing a gimmick.

>vr becoming mainstream
IT WILL NEVER BE MAINSTREAM, YOU FUCKING VIRAL MARKETING MORONS.
Get used to having a pile of cheap fucking plastic shit you need to eventually take a huge loss on and dump in a fucking landfill somewhere.

I thought it was a meme too, but then i got a chance to try a Vive with VR porn and it's fucking 10/10. Fuck y'alls, I tried both 3DPD and massive anime tits and I've never cum so hard in my goddamn life.

real talk here
i have a thinkpad x1 carbon (i5-7200U)
connected to aorus gaming box gtx 1080 through thunderbolt
connected to oculus rift s
zero caliber vr is pretty much unplayable with so much stutter
superhot vr is decent and playable, but still occasional stutter
also the whole setup is a fucking frankenstein mess
would not recommend

I thought it was a meme too, but then i got a chance to try a 3DTV with stereoscopic porn and it's fucking 10/10. Fuck y'alls, I tried both 3DPD and massive anime tits and I've never cum so hard in my goddamn life.

This really puts VR into perspective. Replacing VR with 3DTV in literally anything.

>I wonder what morons like you will say in 15 years when VR is a mainstream thing that everyone owns.
"I wonder what morons like you will say in 15 years when 3DTV is a mainstream thing that everyone owns."
For example.

Paid shills.

You just haven't been alive long enough to see a technological change.

It will be mainstream, without a doubt. It just needs to improve more first.

3D TV didn't really add much. No one thought it was going to be a big thing.

VR is an entirely new platform that allows for entirely new (AMAZING) experiences and use cases.

Incomparable.

it still needs a wider field of view, otherwise feels like you're looking through a scuba mask

I'm probably older than your father, kid.
I've seen bullshit like this come and go and there's always some fringe interest in bullshit but when there's no MASS FUCKING INTEREST IN SOMETHING like there's NOT with VR, it's going to go nowhere. The average fucking person doesn't give a goddamn SHIT about VR because it's unnecessary, cumbersome, and just gets in the way, all for basically zero advantage for anything.
Let it die.

Nah nigger, that shit was cash. I always wanted to fuck Miku, and I got to. You're just jealous because you didn't get to fuck Miku.

VR didn't really add much. If you punched me in the face in VR, would I feel anything? No? This current VR isn't actually VR, it's a misnomer.

3DTV is an entirely new platform that allows for entirely new (AMAZING) experiences such as Avatar 3D.

Incomparable.

Well duh? Do you not think that in 15 years the FOV will be greater?

Yes, current gen VR is clearly never going to be widely adopted. It's big, heavy, expensive, needs a PC, low FOV, low res screens, no foveated rendering or eye tracking ,etc etc etc.

You sound like someone who's never used high end VR.

Play SUPERHOT VR on a Valve Index, and tell me you could've had anything remotely close to an experience like that elsewhere.

You're very wrong, and I'd like to say you'll eat your words one day. But we both know you wont, you'll do some crazy mental gymnastics to try to tell yourself that you were right about VR being a gimmick meme - all while using your amazing VR system that's widely adopted by mainstream audiences.

Watch Avatar 3D by James Cameron and tell me you could've had anything remotely close to an experience like that elsewhere.

Posted this post from my 3DTV monitor that's widely adopted by mainstream audiences.

It didn't add much?

Actually being INSIDE the game/experience instead of just watching it?

Every step you take in real life being mimiced 1:1 in game? Further increasing immersion in that world.

Having 1:1 tracked controllers? Allowing you to actually aim weapons, throw things, use tools, etc.

You don't think this adds much?

You sound like you used a Google Cardboard for 5 minutes.

I actually do enjoy movies in 3D.

I think it is better, and I will go to see all the big new movies at IMAX in 3D.

You people always use 3D as an example of a failed gimmick, but even that's still around so many years later.

Anyway, enjoy not being able to form an argument, and just mirror what I say like a 13 year old.

Also, enjoy your VR in 15 years, and just take a moment to remember how fucking stupid you are, and maybe take that as an opportunity to grow as a person.

Only thing I use this for is flight sims with the whole stick and throttle setup. Shooting in pavlov is pretty fun but its not even close to immersive.

maybe if you didn't flush your money down the toilet on infantile gimmicks you could afford to live in accommodations larger than a walk in closet.

I bought a mixed reality headset. I feel that's the best value right now and shows how fun VR can actually be.
It's pretty immersive. Story-driven games, puzzle games, and shooters I feel benefit the most from VR and that's what we mostly see.
