Can any boomers tell me if this is true? (see pic)

1999 was a hiring heyday. He’s right, the pay now is better but it’s not a heyday, it’s. PIA.

99 was in the middle of the tech boom, as a kid in middle school it was so optimistic looking that by the time I finished college I would have a comfy job that wouldn't be stressful and be completely casual. Now reality is that I'm in my 30s and never having much of a real job NEET and prob having to work either retail or warehouses.

> we make so much more now than we did back then
yeah you have 20 years experience too.

Attached: x.png (547x318, 19K)

> or warehouses
or whorehouses

Yeah that's how shit the job market is.

I had an easier time finding a job in a luxury retail shop and it doesn't drain my brain like my earlier programming job

I always get mad about this shit

my first job was in 2009 and even coming off the huge recession shit was so much easier back then. the hiring process nowadays is fucking retarded holy shit I can't believe how ridiculous it's gotten. I feel like a clown at a circus being forced to jump through hoops.

Eh I aint a programmer, I did more general IT, but even that job requirements want such perfect people with multiple years of experience that can be hard to get.

I think the tech industry as a whole has gone towards a mix of college freshmen are better, we can work them to the bone until they burn out, and if you want experienced people it's far people to poach someone who's already trained up and experienced than start with someone who already have those skills and dosen't need any time to brush up, just someone who can hit the floor and start running immediately.

Thing is if you go for IT in a non-tech company, its so much easier, and the recruiter is happy to go for anyone who isn't a shithead because all the talent is going for the big glossy tech companies. So you know, if 70-150k is perfectly acceptable to you, you don't want to live in the west coast HUB of technology it's fine. And if the bubble pops you'll be in a far better position than the west coast wage slaves.

my company recently implemented a hackerrank requirement for SENIOR DEV positions

What a stupid fucking boomer

nowadays you can really only count on skills and luck. this is what happens when everyone can get a free/loaned bachelors. The only ones college helps are corporations since they don't have to train you anymore.

how do I get a job in LONDON, when I have no experience, degree at 19 years old

certs

>It was a weird time when non-tech folks were in charge of tech folks.
So nothing has changed?

but dont i have to pay for them, also i dont want to go back to education anymore

I failed to get a job in london after I went to grad school there and had to move back to canada

I think eventually it'll create a new industry of turning recruitment into 2-3 long survival game in complexes where you have to solve programming problems to access vital supplies and "kill" your competitors.

Become a chef

from what I've seen what it's actually done is make hiring completely based on networking and relationships even more than it used to be because almost nobody can make it past the filter, and those that make it past the filter tend to be people who studied for interviews and not actually good candidates
the only way to win is to bypass the filter by getting employee recommendations and then being a good candidate

When can I skip the training and just buy my job license straight up

tfw I would probably buy a good job if it was possible, I'd pay 50k to get a comfy job at a top tier company, maybe 100k

what grad school did you go to? what did you get your degree in?

It’s impossible to get a job in the U.K. without experience even if you went to Oxbridge. Shits hyper competitive now especially with Brexit round the corner and companies are being extra picky

oxford statistics. could not get a job in the uk.

Bullshit. i'm self taught and I just walked in, shook the ceo's hand and got myself an internship

I miss based SUN Microsystems and their nazi logo.

Yeah notOP but an issue I have is my anxiety so I really didn't have connections or ability to do a lot of jobs because of lots of people. I'm using a job coach who understands it to help me kind of advocate for myself and hope it finally works out.

Literally the hunger games because you have to fight for a job to feed yourself.

>grind leetcode like a mad man
>get into a top tier company
>ride out gravy train while it lasts
that's my takeaway

Attached: 1562369258807.jpg (786x1399, 173K)

yeah and we’ll pretty much return to slavery given the downward pressure on wages due to unlimited immigration. Tech will unironically regress us back to the dark ages.

neo-feudalism has always been inevitable. still better than socialism or communism.

You're still a bird in a golden cage. My NEET freedom is priceless

yeah that was called college a few years ago

What's the 30s and 40s plan for NEETdom?

My goal is to save all my income then use FIRE techniques to live as a NEET

>FIRE techniques
What is this?

30s: barely get by
40s: suicide

>better to be a slave than a socialist
why tho?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIRE_movement
"techniques" might be an overstatement. it's basically saving up, investing, and living off of interest while having very low expenses

because socialism in reality is just a much, much, worse feudalism despite what it pretends it is before it's implemented

You mean like "The CUBE" btu with added terminals you can enter and solver programming puzzles?

Attached: peace_im_out.gif (416x307, 2.58M)

>Kali Linux plus BEeF, metasploit, et. al.
>Moloch
No sir, cyber security at my local hospital it is

>getting to top-tier company
>not interning for government pack mule work, then to go into private sector and look all cool for working at CIA

Well, that's a whole load of issues, and honestly the real problem isn't migrants, it's the ones in the top couple of percent that are demanding a bigger and bigger slice of the pie.

In an ideal world the way to solve immigration will be making the places they are coming from better, not building bigger walls. But Americal likes being top dog on it's continent and keeping all its neighbours down, if it wasn't for anglofetishism i'm sure even Canada would be far worse off.

where the fuck is he making 280k?

bluepilled

Except it's up to them to make their homes better. For example, if I come in and build houses for free in the third world, how are native housing companies supposed to compete with me? They can't undercut free. We have to pull away and let them deal with their own problems, harsh as that may seem.

migration is an absolutely enormous issue. any developed country in the world would be destroyed in an instant with open borders. I live in canada and have seen first hand what foreign pressure and mass immigration has done to wages and housing prices compared to america. we take in per capita the highest number of immigrants of any country in the world and we're also the most expensive to buy a house in despite being a huge country with tons of land.

cpacanada.ca/en/news/canada/2018-04-25-canada-leading-world-in-debt
its fucked up.

that's retarded, almost all immigrants are unemployed and don't participate in the economy.
The reason for importing the lowest of the low subhumans specifically is division and the resulting authoritarian rule.

I can only talk about Germany hiring process but we are in the state of
>Do you know Java?
Welcome!

It is really about selling yourself and everyone really gets a chance. I believe this is mostly because we are not overrun by Indian h1b1 and tech is short.
This also means you work with alot of idiots.

Honestly, an agile mindset and wanting to improve yourself is worth 10 times the experience in any language (in my opinion).

that might be true in america but in canada the immigrants are a split between white collar workers who undercut skilled jobs and keep down wages like tech wages, low skilled slave labor that undercuts unskilled wages, and refugees who simply drain the system across the board

>almost all immigrants are unemployed and don't participate in the economy.
Objectively false. They buy things? then they are contributing to the economy.

>The reason for importing the lowest of the low subhumans specifically is division and the resulting authoritarian rule.
Correct

immigration absolutely FUCKS the working population

another thing that absolutely FUCKS the working population is making higher education effectively mandatory by deflating the value of degrees

>hired developers recently
>no technical tests, no bullshit interview questions

All this interview test bullshit is for people who don't understand how to talk to people.

yea the job market in europe is really great if you're already eu

Jesus Christ, guy. Get your shit together. I never had the chance to go to school because I was poor, but I'm 30 now and just starting Nursing school next semester. C'mon.

Attached: 1563229133215.png (500x653, 104K)

>They buy things? then they are contributing to the economy.
They are given things most of the time, that is the way they "contribute.
But that is just a justification, if they were not there that money would have been spent elsewhere anyways.
Though for a time they did """contribute""" when traitors took jew money for housing them.

I must not understand something about supply and demand, but if these mythical companies paying 280k have so many applicants knocking at the door, why do they not just low-ball them?

>I'm 30 now and just starting Nursing school next semester
are you bragging about that?

when those same immigrants work for low wages in their own country for a western company then it's alright, they stole the factory jobs that were located in western countries, but westerners got cheaper smartphones, so it's a nice trade-off

when they suddenly start flooding in then it's a problem

>idiots who didn't know what they were doing were the cause of the housing market crash
get a load of this redditnigger

the housing market crash was caused by mortgage backed securities that were backed by shitty mortgages given to niggers and spics with low incomes, so they could buy houses they didn't need with money they didn't have. the fags at the top weren't worried about it because "who defaults on their mortgage? lol" and when they did, everyone got raped

all I do in the technical test is make an array matrix and try to figure the shit out using dynamic programming, if I can figure it out, it's alright, if not then I say "oh, wow, nice question" and hope for the best

wut the fuck u on about immigrants have no qualms about working shit conditions without days off. they also take less pay, negotiate for lesser benefits. and is less likely to care about ““rights““. there are plenty of jobs that require u not having communication but can be done by an immigrant. they also tend to live as a group, share expenses and cook at home.
they literally dont pay for any services such as cleaning, car repairs, plumbing, electrical work. most likely they themselves do it, ot find someone in their community to do it.
they are view on life is vastly different than ours, and u as a single american cant compete because u are reliant on others for services, while they are quite self reliant and dont are about what happens other than their small group.

>whiteboards
You just had to look like you were good with computers. They literally just anybody that could use Excell, and Office. Gamers, and internet chatters were treated as ieet hackers, and you'd blow everybody's mind if you could install Linux.

see
as to why low income faggots are bad
note: we still have mortgage backed securities

Mfw there was a small window in history where just being able to use a computer meant you were instantly made of magic.

the next market will be spaceflight
if you ever have a chance to learn to fly in space, take it immediately and make a killing

>didn't need
everyone needs a home though

rent

slightly more expensive monthly than a mortgage, depending on location, and a waste of money to boot

People need a place to stay, they don't necessarily need a home that costs 3x what they can reasonably afford

to be honest everyone should be living in multi-generational homes instead of fucking themselves forever with debt or rent

>spent years and years paying a house
>it's finally yours
>now have to pay property taxes
>tax this tax that
nah

rent is better

it didn't used to be a choice between those two. you could have a home and not pay that much for it. wonder what changed. ~_~

all changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

not an apples to apples comparison. included in rent is the cost of repairs, taxes, and other things

this makes me scared for when I'm 40. No way this going to continue like this for another 20 years, something gonna break and we're all gonna be homeless. Save every cent you can now

we need a final solution to this problem

doesn't matter these days anyway with the internet, you don't need pajeet to live here in order to hire him anymore. Everything is going remote

do something real, like design radar systems for the military
not some bullshit code for google or facebook

see
can't outsource NOFORN :^)

I think I'll just build a homestead innawoods and retire there once I have enough resources for self sufficiency

Attached: 1533992006432.jpg (1504x1000, 1.59M)

I dont think so. the world keeps getting more and more competitive. international competition and the internet has made it so the good shit is reserved for the absolute best.
the only escape is through social networking so you can skip the ladder.

>being a NEET in a cage of poverty who can't do things like buy a Zen2 8 core

>look all cool for working at CIA

Attached: 1562801241599.png (1067x792, 284K)

literally the norm everywhere, except for western countries. like why pay for electricity, water, internet, phone, taxes again just for the sake of independence.
>inb4 social life.
my brother literally was juggling 3 different roasties one time last year, while staying with his parents making 34000 with just a high school degree.

People on Jow Forums often have a positive view on ATLA, but it's pretty obviously anti-imperial and anti-colonial. How does that get squared with the last 500 years of Western history?

Youre literally paying your landlords bills then retard.

Ozai did nothing wrong

Attached: 1535758138276.jpg (333x250, 31K)

More accurately you're paying off their mortgage

the western way is better. I would never want to live with my family if I didn't have to, and I love my family. it didn't used to be a problem and for a long time buying your own home and not needing massive amounts of debt for it was completely normal.

I ain't reading all that shit but I can tell you that nepotism worked back in 2002 and it works all the same now. Treat your folks kindly, make friends, and trade favors. You can save effort looking for the job, and then make more effort keeping it.

I’m not a boomer, I’m a gen-x and my first tech job was in the 90s and it’s even worse than that. If you could make a literal boomer’s computer do anything, even install word, connect their printer from staples, whatever, you could get a job.
I did mostly sysadmin, by anything internet related in internet was good too because everyone did Novell. Basic web design was a sure fire employment thing too.
Flash forward to now. I do shit for the military. Everything needs a hook to “cyber”
