Youtube is threatening to block EU and UK users due to article 13 THIS IS A SERIOUS THREAT they will do that, but the EU is unconcerned because they are pissed that most of the worlds major WWW corps are american techcrunch.com/2018/10/22/youtube-ceo-says-eus-new-copyright-legislation-threatens-jobs-smaller-creators/
This is why you EU ers should have stood up to article 13. I cant believe that edict even got passed. There should have been riots over it IT IS NO GOOD SAYING muh vpn's because google are serious, they will block EU users at the backbone level, not at the website level. Let me say that again, they will stop all communications from the EU at the point at which the communication is recieved at the eastern seaboard and since google own about 99.999% of that infrastructure it will happen
based europoors standing up to google, based google shitting on europoors
Josiah Lopez
maybe it will bring the end of YouTube.
its the one google service I can't get away from.
Gabriel White
EU's directive is wholly incompatible with fair use in any practical real world situation.
Not that youtube cares about that. Google 100% sides with "copyright holders" (really just anyone claiming to be a copyright holder) in all situations against content creators in the first place. They're just upset that there's a law that makes them liable for the problem instead of having a free pass to ignore the problem.
Ryan Perry
>Youtube is threatening to block EU and UK users due to article 13 good, fuck europe and especially the uk.
Gabriel Perry
What's the problem here? They can threat whatever they want, the EU market is too large to skip as it always was. And if they do? Large space for a new competitor, maybe even our chinese overlords are happy to help with that.
Nolan Watson
inb4 HuaTube
Owen Mitchell
WTF how do I move to Europe to escape Google?
Blake Hill
Then I can just as well cancel my home broadband. :( Youtube is almost all I watch because it's free.
Jose Lee
so i no longer have to degoogle everything. google will just leave us alone? thank you based EU. you might've screwed up big time with the refugees but you redeemed yourself with the GDPR and A13.
>There should have been riots over it Why? Because Google is going to block 50% of it's profits? Ha, just like they are going to tell coca cola to fuck off, right?
Austin Gray
Based, fuck europoors and their retarded legislature
tfw Coca Cola bought out Fanta after the Based War Hitler's spinning in that bunker he's buried in.
Owen Scott
who cares? youtube is cancer
Levi Brooks
>YOUTUBE THREATENING TO BLOCK EU
Nothing of value will be lost in either direction.
James Phillips
youtube turned to shit anyway with 90% of the videos that pop up are overreacting nu-males with open mouth onions faced thumbnails that shit out content just to make ad money.
I miss the old days.
Luke Wright
Good, fuck jewgle, I'll use Dailymotion, like the good old days before 2007.
there were riots over it retard that shit was just forced on us
Jonathan Murphy
I watch YouTube on a daily basis, most of the guys I watch are European, can't really see how they're gonna maintain the content with only American and Indian videos. But anyway of course I will stand for EU in this, it's normal that copyright is respected and if YouTube can't cope they might as well disappear.
Luke Sanchez
YouTube recommends you what you watch the most.
Jason Butler
Hey guys remember when porn was going to require an ID in the UK? me neither
Levi Sullivan
>Youtube is threatening to block EU and UK users based google
Charles Jenkins
retard. everyone was against article 13. the makers of it were clever and just re ordered the numbers so it passed. there was also a lot of mis information on this so the people that weren't against it was because they knew citizens were memed on by fabricated fake versions of what it was going to be. the only reason youtube plans on blocking the eu is because they could be held reliable for copyrighted content their users put up. if content id was decent there wouldn't be an issue since all the company is required to do is have a decent copyright screener, which they already have a version of.
Robert Evans
I mean when I search for videos. I don't have nu-males recommended anymore because s@yboy thumbnails are an "not interested"
Charles Sullivan
all EU actually wants is taxes being paid by those who generate profit inside the EU but do their books outside
ive literally not watched one of those once but had to say not interested 50 times to get rid of that cancer, same with redditdiepie youtube recommends thinks that are linked often, watch strictly standup comedy and youll get joe rogan a ton of the time because the viewerbase is mostly the same, even if you didnt watch a single rogan or celeb interview in general
John Jackson
Based. Europoors had ruined the Internet with their WWW.
Ian Mitchell
>EU’s new copyright legislation fuck theme good news
Joshua Price
Hi newfriend I too wonder why s-m-h, t-b-h and f-a-m change when I post them
Landon Morales
Copyright and patents should be abolished.
Elijah Thompson
I'm old af this is the first time I typed s@y desu senpai. Why the fk would they filter that? Did some s@yboy admins feelings get hurt?
YouTube was fine when it was just people sharing videos. Once it became all about money and people started treating it as a profession, it all went to shit. Also, the comment system is cancerous as hell.
I think if Google really blocks the EU and citizens can't get their YouTube, they'll throw a shitfit and get the law repealed. I doubt anyone will step up and foot the bill to host video for the entire EU.
Ryder Flores
Now if only 4channel would do the same thing.
Ian Campbell
good anything that makes people hate the EU is good
Levi Thomas
>i doubt it
Hunter Evans
Good, these faggots at google are strutting around like content creators themselves rather than just a silent open platform. Time to eat the boot too, and realize there are bigger fish in the sea.
Logan Torres
Yes I'm sure Google will totally inform its advertisement partners that they're gonna have to do without their biggest Western market
Aiden Taylor
Chinks will move in with a platform or invest in a euro platform. Google has been pissing off a lot of people in high places and there's no lobbying games for them to play outside of the US. Gonna be funny watching then become a bitch in yet another market (in addition to India, China and Russia). Mericans are retarded for not separating state power from corporate power.
Zachary Rodriguez
>I think if Google really blocks the EU and citizens can't get their YouTube, they'll throw a shitfit and get the law repealed. You underestimate how cucked EUnuchs are.
Jason Perry
>omg you guys we can't act like a publisher and have no scrutiny anymore, we will be legally required to abide by the same laws as all other mediums in existence
>other websites follow JewTube's lead >now the internet is free of yurocucks I don't know OP, sounds pretty based to me.
Connor Myers
Oh no. What will happen to Pewds?
Parker Perez
Yeah this is a win-win situation here for me
Dylan Nelson
>Youtube is threatening to block EU and UK users I live in the EU and hate article 13 as much as the next man, but good riddance.
Connor Hughes
Actually it's still July, but fuck OP nonetheless.
Tyler Fisher
apparently getting citizenship in Sweden isn't too hard.
Josiah Nguyen
Isn't article 13 basically just about protecting megacorporate kike profits with ridiculous copyright enforcement standards? Why the fuck would anyone here support that trash? It's even worse than the GDPR that was impotent as shit and just made a bunch of webshits put bloated TOS agreement bars on top of every page.
Benjamin Baker
>Youtube is threatening to block EU and UK users due to article 13 fuck, i used to hate youtube now im a huge fan. fuck the eu and uk. those fucking imbeciles are just getting what they deserve. >This is why you EU ers should have stood up to article 13. I cant believe that edict even got passed. There should have been riots over it europeans are mostly sackless pacifists. they do more crying about things than taking action, much like americans.
Brandon Murphy
You underestimate just how cucked yuroserfs are.
Gabriel Anderson
Please yes Force an alternative to appear and let Euros migrate to one that doesn't respect A13
Andrew Powell
it will be blocked in your country there will be no single, legal video hosting in EU. you will end watching videos at Chinese sites inb4 they will block em too.
Nathan Mitchell
>EU has no google cancer and has to build their own competing site that Americans can also use
This is the best possible timeline what the fuck are you talking about?
Asher Bailey
I fucking hope so. People here are sucking EU cock. They don't know how the EU rules over them and this might actually sway the public opinion. Hope they'll ban pornhub too.
Justin Nguyen
They already have their own competing services, it's called TV stations and the movies, enjoy your propoganda media and TV licenses.
Andrew Reyes
yeah, the sad reality is that there will be some super gay compromise that results in nothing having changed, if this story was actually true it would be fucking awesome
Kayden Davis
With any luck they'll block everything not on an EU-approved whitelist. Either yurocucks finally grow some balls and push back against this shit, or we'll be rid of them forever on the internet, which is a win either way.
Aaron Bell
Yeah I hope the great firewall of China will look like a joke compared to what the EU does. Maybe people will understand how tyrannical the EU actually is. On the positive side I don't have to interact with amerifats anymore.
Luis Garcia
This is a win-win, fuck yuropoors and fuck google.
John Jenkins
Good, they can seed a counter platform. Centralized nets are a mistake to begin with.
Alexander Reed
>and since google own about 99.999% of that infrastructure Stop pulling numbers out of you ass.
Isaac Smith
What's fun is blocking different countries from your router for a while one at a time and seeing how your experiences change.
>Specifically, her letter focused on Article 13, the so-called “meme ban” that states that any site with a large amount of user-generated content — like Facebook or YouTube, for example — will be responsible for taking down content that infringes on copyright. I guess Brexit is going full swing now if that's the case.
Luis Stewart
Wrong. I think the EU is using this to tighten it's speech laws on youtube.
Bentley Ward
>threatens jobs, smaller creators
ah yeah blame the article 13 when you shit on the same people to promote your paid ads
Ethan Watson
Do it, faggots. Youtube is a massive tumour on content creation because their algorthims favour trending content to a fault so "smaller" creators get fucked so hard that you will never get noticed without posting elsewhere. Twitch is the exact same way. Without exposure, there's no reason to even bother with Youtube due to the sea of bullshit you get thrown in with.
Robert Gray
>competing sites There's already more than one. The problem is youtube has google behind it and no other site can compete due to how Google controls shit. Dailymotion has been around nearly as long as youtube has but doesn't get any notice aside from people wanting to skirt the shitty copyright system Google implemented and host stuff without making money for themselves/companies who can jew the system. The only way Youtube should be forced to do business is that it can't just redirect the proceeds of a video based on claims and must instead take the video down. That way, the "smaller creators" hold as much water as the big creators and removal of videos is balanced based on whether it's original content or just using other people's assets. Fucking sick of uploading a video with an audio asset owned by a 4th party purchaser and losing the entire revenue from that video because they own a sound byte that I can't challenge.
Jack Bell
There are alternatives that NOBODY USES, because there's no reason to. YouTube blocks the EU, that doesn't hurt the EU, that hurts YouTube by FORCING all those people to use a different service.
Fuck yeah fuck article 13, maybe all the kids over there will stop being distracted by (((YouTube))) videos and actually make a revolt against their countries retarded censorship
Dominic Collins
>EUSSR ftfy
Alexander Edwards
because janitors got pissy
Oliver Green
Most things big tech oppose are good for your privacy and every single time some corporate bastard claims something threatens jobs /"job creators" that nearly confirms it's positive given that phrase is just code for " may stop me for unethically squeezing as much money from the world as possible".
Oh and we do need alternatives - PeerTube is the best option most likely, with it's many federated servers to help carry the load.
