>Post at least some attempt at a parts list
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing:
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>R3 3200G - Recommended minimum gaming
>R5 2600 - Good gaming CPU with great value
>R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU
>R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU
>R7 1700X - Budget video editing
>R9 3900X - Professional tasks

RAM:
>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks ONLY for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in code) recommended
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
>B-die is EOL, stock is limited

GPUs based on current pricing:
1080p
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>GTX 1660 - higher fps / more demanding games
>RX 5700 - even higher FPS
1440p
>RX 5700 - basic
>RX 5700XT - standard
2160p (4K)
>RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing performance scales better into 4K than Navi does.
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Navi AIB models come mid-August. 5700 blower is alright, due to low power.

computers

could one of you fine gents explain to this brainlet why the 3600x has a higher TDP over the 3700x? does it have to do with the lower base clock?

Attached: 1561878223569.jpg (1024x1024, 131K)

How can 5700 and 5700xt be recommended when there's no aib cards and the drivers are unusable in (((current state)))?

3600X is irrelevant anyway. It has no reason to exist.

Imagine being at computers

Upgrading from an FX 8350 and r9 280x to Ryzen 3600 and Vega 56.
Will be on a 900p monitor for the first 2 weeks, kek.

Also upgrading from SATA HDD to m.2 2280 ssd and 1333 ddr3 ram to 3200 ddr4 ram.

cute insect people

>It has no reason to exist.
they need something at the $250 and $400 price point.

I live in a tiny, effectively one room apartment and I have a full tower.

It's convenient, having this behemoth sucking air all day makes the air nice and pure

Reminders:
- You can teach English in Japan if you have any degree. It doesn't have to be an English degree.
- The average salary for full-time English teachers in Japan is ~$86,000/year. The part-timers drag the overall average down.
- You don't need to speak Japanese to teach English in Japan. If you do speak it you'll be told not to speak it to students.

TDP is a non factor if you know what you're doing

eh, already got a career as a surgeon
don't want to downgrade

go back

but why did they advertise it differently?

Turn on PBO+AOC with the 3600 and you match the 3600X for $50 less.
3600X is a scam. The included cooler is useless for both so not an argument for it.

Any caveats to a full tower? I had one in my list and someone told me it was too big, with no explanation of what that means in practice.

I hypothesize that maybe it had something to do with the length of cables that come with regular PSUs and such.

It's a big case (for you)

You'll probably want to give it its own coffee table to live on, it can crowd your desk

What's your favourite case?

yeah but you can achieve more if you did it with 3600x+pbo+aoc

higher boost, wraith spire,
not worth the added $50

Well, why pay the premium for a full tower when mid towers have enough space for regular builds, without any sli set up, huge radiators etc

no i meant, why did the TDP advertised is 50% off

any info on which 3rd party 2060 supers are most reliable/ have thr best quality?
>inb4 buy a 5700
yes yes I am also heavily considering the 5700, I just want to look at all of my options

Nope, only the non-X has any significant oc headroom. They all have the same frequency wall regardless of TDP.

What are some good 140mm case fans with plenty of pressure to pull through meshes+filters+ 90deg turn on air but aren't loud as fuck

Where I can find this autoOC thing for amd? 5/8 cores on my 3700x can go at least 4,4GHz but I want them to go past that.

gamersnexus.net/guides/3491-explaining-precision-boost-overdrive-benchmarks-auto-oc

In your BIOS. Where depends on the board maker, usually with or near the Precision Boost Overdrive settings.

How I can make cinebench to run specific core? It's always using my worse one.

Retard question.
I am getting an SSD and want to make it as my main drive. Currently I have a HDD drive with windows 10 installed. Can I instal windows 10 on my SSD, set it as my main boot up drive in bios, and then slot in my old HDD (with windows still on it) or will I have to delete everything from my HDD?

Oh...

I, uh... put my computers on the floor. I may live in a tiny apartment, but I think I can spare an extra 0.5 sqft somewhere under my desks.

Because I want to, and it's only $10 more.

I'm not asking if it's optimal. I'm asking if it's going to cause any problems, for example with cabling.

Can't find it anywhere

Arctic P14

Is an alternative cooler really necessary for the ryzen 3600?

Advanced CPU config, it's in there.

Maybe look under "Advanced CPU configuration"?

I want to build a desktop rig for my office.
I have an x1 extreme but it struggles a bit with large AutoCAD files.

Don't care about games.
So what processor and graphics card would you recommend.
I was tossing up ryzen vs threadripper
Will probably go 32gb ram.

Also, what's the best way of co using my desktop and laptop? Should I kvm switch or rdp I to the laptop?

PBO is just there.

nf-p12 redux

Damn I'm stupid had to turn pbo on advanced. It's that cou boost overclock override?

now set it to manual...

Recommend a cheap air cooler for the poozen 3600 bros

4.2Ghz at 1.3V is the wall for Zen2 regardless of CPU.

Back when I was living in a 9.7sqm (104 square foot) apartment, I had room for a full tower. Not having space is about not organising shit properly.
If you can't fit your bed, computer, a hobby bench, washer, dryer, convection oven/convection microwave, hotplate, fridge, freezer, space to store your clothes, toilet and shower in under 10sqm there's something wrong with you.

Works now

Eehhh, starting you're looking at 31k + housing + healthcare. I really doubt that 86k is the average, 70k I can see but not nearly 90k USD.
You do English teaching for the culture and ability to live somewhere else, not for the wage.

FWIW they're almost definitely Chinese tourists

Majority of girls walking around in kimonos are Chinese tourists in rented kimonos

eh, their makeup seems a bit too light for mainlanders, but it's true that they might not be japanese

On advanced pbo seems not be enabled because CPU voltage is just 1.35 and not boosting to 1.45

Eh, depends on the city you're in and the time of year. It's pretty easy to tell nips and chinks apart anyway so just look at the girls and judge.

So i'm a clueless idiot upgrading my GTX970 to a RTX2080Ti and hear I'll need to reinstall the driver despite it being a single unified exe from the website. What's the best way to do this?

Was thinking
1. swap cards
2. uninstall "old" driver
3. reboot to let it do it's registry thing
4. install "new" driver

Is this the best way to do it? Is it even necessary?

Alright Lads, looking at monitors.
Want a 1440p 144hz but looking to spend no more than about £250/260

Anyone have an experience/advice about these?
Any other suggestions are welcome too

Don't really want to be forking out another £100/150 either so none of that plz

Based. I bet he voted rightwing as opposed to AMDrones being leftist niggers

The MSI Gaming X looks good. Just look at what's available then check some professional reviews. Check value, temps, noisr.

I usually just take out the old card and install the new one. Not fucking around with the driver unless there is a newer driver available. If I experience issues, I will do a removal and fresh reinstall of the driver package.

if you're going to try landing an asian cutie I would recommend Taiwanese, they're relatively westernised and desperate to leave taiwan because it's a sinking ship

Japanese have a really fucked up culture in a lot of ways, Chinese and Vietnamese aren't really civilised yet, Koreans aren't interested in white men, so Taiwanese is the way to go imo

with all the asian girl talk I'll say chinese women are nice
I'm from the bahamas and we have a good deal of chinese immigrants coming in for work, mostly men
some women also come and they tend to stick to themselves (other Chinese guys) but some can stray outside of that and they all seem very nice and kind
fuck the japanese though, seriously

Dell one isn't even a 2560x1440 panel. And I remember reading somewhere that that Samsung model has very high latency and doesn't even come with any adaptive sync technology.
Face it bong, you can't get what you want with your budget. Either settle for less, or pay up more.

How big of a performance hit there's between 1080p and 1440p? I was thinking about getting the 2070 Super and swapping my 24'' 1080p for 27'' 1440p. Would the 2070 Super be able to max out AAA games in 3-4 years from now?

Whats you guys take on the amount of cores for a gaming PC?
Obviously I want my game to run smooth, but a bit of multitasking on the 2nd screen is a must as well.
Do you always go higher than 4 cores?

at 60fps?
yes

Yes

it honestly depends on what games youre playing
newer stuff (2012+) go for at least 6 cores

>Do you always go higher than 4 cores?
intcel corelets will tell you that 4c/8t is overkill

Attached: 1563495327548.png (914x678, 191K)

Thanks, I just found a bunch of advice suggesting using "DDU", Display Driver Uninstall utility so that you're getting a truly fresh install and eliminate the chance of any 970-ness slipping through the cracks and potentially causing issues & wanted to make sure I wasn't going to run into problems

>£250 for 1440p 144hz
Sounds almost too good to be true. Where have they cut costs?

When I change PBO from enabled to advanced so I could get autoOC my CPU voltage goes only to 1.38. what to do So I can get it to boost 1.45 like with PBO boost enabled?

Is G/Free sync that important?
I either hear memes or you cant live without it

What are you talking about? Leave the voltage on auto. It'll do it's thing.
Run cpu-z benchmark with it enabled and disabled to compare, if it gives higher scores you're good.

Are aftermarket cards usually more expensive than reference when they come out? Wondering if I shouldn't just buy a 2070 now than wait for aftermarket 5700XT's.

2070 Super is only averaging ~100fps on AAA titles in the current year.

Stands are cheap and cant tilt them
And no speakers built in

Also the final one had Free Sync?
Would that solve the problem?

FUCK the asshole who told me to go 9400f instead of 2600
half the threads for 70$ more in price and i can't have chrome open with a few tabs while gayming
and i can't even OC that garbo CPU
REEEEEEEEEE

Also that second one isn't even 1440p lol

Why do so many high end monitors have shitty built in speakers? I don't understand. I'd rather the monitor be £50 cheaper, I use headphones or my own 2.1 system anyway.

It gives lower scores because only getting 1.38V. boost clocks over 100MHz lower with that. When I change back to pbo enabled it gets 1.46V again when boosting but then the boost clocks are limited to 4400MHz.

They're TN. Also the second one is 1080p

>9400f meme when the 2700x was $199 during prime day

Attached: 1540539892767.jpg (640x633, 42K)

nice false flag

Earth to AMDrone. Earth to AMDrone. Do you copy?

The 9400f outperforms even the new Ryzen 3600.

Over and out.

don't get me wrong, it (slightly) performs better in gaymen, but boy the trade offs are not worth the price increase
