Screen tearing on Linux STILL exists in 2019

>screen tearing on Linux STILL exists in 2019
How is this allowed?

because linux is shit

Because UNIX and its inbred descendants were designed for paper terminals in the 60's and 70's. They have no place in moidern computing, particularly GUIs.

Never had it on my phone desu

no screen tearing here

customizable system in which you can opt out of desktop compositing

That’s because it was addressed by the vendor who shipped os eight the phone. The stupid part is it’s not a required package when you fresh install any distro which is beyond retarded

Too lazy to configure it. And it doesn't annoy me in my terminal.

What about playing vidya, dude?

I have a console for that. A computer is for programming.

implying a console isn't a computer

Consoles run BSD, not Linux.

>you actually have to edit some config file just to have a tear-free experience
>the option TearFree exists at all
The absolute state of freetards
Why isn't this enabled by default on all distros?

Why are winjeets so afraid of controlling something themselves?

because you're retarded

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

Use Kwin. Either in lxqt or in kde proper.
Cinnamon also has good compositing.

If you simply have an Nvidia card and didn't install the right drivers, that's a you problem.

Stop using KDE, it's a graphical glitch-fest.

The sort of people who use linux have an orgasm every time the screen tears. Why would they fix it?

Because is a per driver option, it may vary depending on the driver's vendor.
Now please, BTFO wintoddler brainlet. Go back to your containment board

Been using KDE for 6 months now, where are these glitches you speak of?

Dual monitors in KDE is like a trip 20 years into the past. Windows pop up in the middle of two screens, flickering, randomly colored lines, tearing, you name it, if it's annoying, KDE has you covered.

Use Wayland. Problem solved.

>i have a console for that
i too enjoy shelling out $400 for an incredibly restricted computer

Install compton.

Clear Linux doesn't have this problem

>still tears
>lags like a motherfucker
>doesn't support shit
>breaks a ton of things
Wayland isn't the solution. Screen tearing is a fucking symptom of modern shit monitors, not fucking GNU/Linux
>BUT WINDOWS
Tears in Windows, too. Windows just hides it better by robbing you of performance.

My Linux desktop screen is fine Microsoft.

> so edgey

>Everything still works due to XWayland
Are you retarded?

Saged. Use Google you moron. It's most likely a problem with the WM you're using, your logic is flawed.

I use wayland, it just doesn't tear
you run it and voila no tearing, no configs no nothing

Most linux machines don't have displays attached anyways. Nobody can really be bothered apparently.
