How compare to the 7506?

she cute

noise floor sucks
i had one and it blew up too
micca gave me $100 though which was nice

(OP)
I had to replace and resolder the internal cables, replace the internal foam and inhale lead for these things, but it was worth it (especially considering how much i have into them).
You'd never think they're from the 70s with how they sound (even with modern genres).

so far they're on par with the X2s with slightly higher clarity in the mids and highs, but obviously less bass.

I have a Kenwood KA-54, can I use it as a headphone amp? Using a laptop, cellphone or a DAP as the audio source.

Would it give enough power for high end headphones? And what would I need to buy to go with it, any special cables?

What about the Sennheiser HD58x Jubilee? where does that fit in?

From here
head-fi.org/threads/headphone-sensitivity-power-requirements-compared.476345/

HD650 - 167 mw - 24 ma - 7.08v rms

The mw is what is needed to hit 120db. We know that doubling or halving the input power increases or decreases the spl be 3. So actually it's very efficient there, even if there is an impedance swing @ 600ohms. The RMS required is 7v which the O2 doesn't list on its tech specs.

Just upgrade to a 6xx at that point. Its like $50, stop being third world.

the 6xx basically requires a headphone amp for it to even work adding more money to the total cost, although if your buying the 6xx you probably already have one. The 58x's will be ok connected to a PC but will also benefit from an amp in the future.

Final Audio E4000 (IEMs), NVX XPT-100

I have not had any issues with the FAs or the NVX sound quality or comfort, in fact, I really liked them. My issue comes to the durability.

I had the NVX for around two years before the headband broke (no extreme abuse involved). And the FAs were working just fine for me but recently when I left my desk at the office to go for lunch and came back the left earphone was not sounding as loud as the right one (already tried different cables).

So I'm thinking of spending a little more on something more durable that I will use for commuting and listening to music at home/work: a replaceable cable, good build and sound quality, and no need for an amp are my requirements.

No. Stop.

Amplifiers do not work based on power. Again, amplifiers work to deliver either a constant voltage or a constant current. Audio has picked constant voltage for its amplifiers, audio amplifiers present voltage to a load. Voltage defines the sensitivity, which in turn means the frequency response.
Just as the sensitivity of the headphone varies with the frequency, so does its efficiency. No one tries to keep the efficiency of the headphone system constant in the audio band, it has no relation to sound quality in itself.
The most efficient port of the headphone normally near the resonances of the headphone, specifically the mechanical one. At mechanical resonance, the impedance increases, reflecting the decreased current per input voltage. The voltage is still presented, but the headphone draws less power at resonance. This means that a headphone is easiest to drive at its resonance since it is less concerned with the current capability.

Just did the Kramer mod on my porta pros where you drill holes through the grills which makes a night and day difference. Wish Aliexpress had replacement grills so I can experiment more but the cost thing they have are the entire drivers for $8. Also waiting on Yaxi pads to come in for ultimate comfy.

What is this?

A youtuber that reviews headphones, known for his cringy jokes, bad taste in headphones, over-hyping average headphones and of course his obsession with anime and hentai, his house is laden with weeb shit and he is a complete neck beard.

>in the market for noise cancelling cans (flying every 2 weeks)
>look at AU$500 Sony cans
>test "superior noise cancelling"
>cheap build and I can literally hear the plastic creaking as I wear them

I ended up buying the Sennheisers for half the price, seriously, what's the point of "superior" noise cancelling if you can't even make headphones that don't creak?

Years ago while Jow Forums was recommending M50s to literally everyone watching Zeos helped me find actual good budget headphones. He might be a Stax shill but there's no audio reviewer on Youtube like him.

I have a fucked up disc in my neck, cant wear big headphones that put weight on my head.

Are there any above average light weight headphones out there?

Swap that Origen for a JDS Atom and the DAC of your choice, and you would be correct.
Stax hoes are indeed mad.

Breddy gud.

Ouch.

How can they get away with these prices when the $99 JDS Atom achieves 0.0002% or the THX AAA 789 achieves 0.0001% for $400.

Anything Koss makes that's worth a damn, i.e. KSC-75, PortaPro, KPH30i, or what suggested (although they're a bit pricier).

Any help I be dumb

For a solid state amp, it does. If it's not linear, with good channel matching and low distortion, it's shit.

Tubes introduce specific distortion which you might find pleasurable, but the only thing a $3000 solid state amp has over a $500 solid state amp that measure equivalently is build quality.

The Woo WA7 are muddy garbage with a terrible digital section.

when will jds labs release a dac to compliment the atom

Why? You can just get an ODAC, or an EL DAC, or a decent Topping or SMSL DAC, or a Kadas Tone Board with a printed enclosure. There's really no need for one in the current marketplace.

What else do you listen with? Ive done the kramer mod and one came out a lot flatter then the other, both ended up with less bass then oem but i didn't bother with drilling the exact sizes

I got a SMSL M300, it's balanced XLR out with a AKM AK4497 chip. Pretty good for 250 bucks.

Basically something like a mic DAC/preamp (pic related), Atom amp, and SDAC in one. Should ideally also be able to drive big speakers as a second output.

Only pair worth mentioning are m50s and m50xs over the last 9 years. I've come here in hopes of finding a new and better life.

My friend who's a producer is suggesting the DT880s as they are a good "all rounder" headphone apparently, but I'm scared of them being too clinical in a way like the m50s are. Anyone with any experience on this?

HD58X or HD6XX for rock & electronic music?

I was looking into over-ear headphones as opposed to IEMs.

if you already have an amp you can try out greater impedance headphones like sennheisers, hd 6xx if you like spending more, 58x if you want to spend less
if you want more bass impact don't get open backs, and consider maybe fostex or denon for the more expensive end, and maybe closed back beyers for the mid range
timbre differs from brand to brand and tends to remain the same for lines of models e.g. AKG's K series, Sennheiser's HD series. Unless of course the headphones are made of different materials and are shaped differently in which case the previous statement is null
also consider maybe something like the HE4xx
don't stress out too much, if you can try out some pairs in person and you'll be able to tell how they feel and sound then (like during headphone meets or in stores)

I would assume they're both similar in timbre so it's more a question of whether you want to spend more and get the 6xx
if you don't already have an amp get the 58x and an amp

Meze 99 classic
Fidelio X2 (Needs amp to tap into its full potential tho)

But your ideal headset would be the Oppo PM1/PM2/PM3 so you might wanna spring for that.

I have this amp mainly mean't for speakers but can also support headphones, is it enough? The Kenwood KA-54. Thinking of getting a smaller one in the future though like the Schiit Magni 3.
