When technology finally reaches a peak where everyone can afford VR, and the graphics and physics are top tier, do you think we'll ever have a e-society similar to Ready Player One? Or do you think it'll continue being a trollfest and memes like VRChat?

What makes you think normies will ever get into vr?

>What makes you think normies will ever get into video games?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into the internet?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into Game of Thrones?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into comic book movies?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into roleplay?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into anime?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into cosplay?
>What makes you think normies will ever get into streaming?

See a trend here? Things that used to be nerd culture always get polluted by normies.

the fuck are you talking about? VR is already normie as fuck

Forgot the most obvious one from earlier Jow Forums.

>What makes you think normies will ever get into internet memes?

I wonder if boomers and normies would still love that movie if it was more realistic to VR chat
youtu.be/azZoOeMqB8Q

Maybe we will finally get some high quality VR games.
VR is future, that's for sure. It's just that there isn't enough users right now to invest into it.

If everyone got VR, VR would become the new PC. Meaning normies will play AAA games, watch Hollywood VR movies and use high quality VR social platforms. Nerds will play VRChat aka second life because they can roleplay as cute traps and fight in mechas etc, and play nerdy games. Zoommers will play Minecraft and new battle Royale and nothing will really change except a new degree of immersion.

There are high quality games for VR, they just happen to be targeted against a certain type of autist with an attention span longer than the typical zoomer's and who has no problem dropping $8,000 on rig + vr + hotas + pedals.

VR IS FUCKING DEAD YOU IDIOTS
JESUS FUCKING SHIT
STOP TRYING TO MAKE THIS GODDAMN HORRIBLE PSEUDOTECHNOLOGY A THING, IT WILL NEVER BE A THING
You idiots are like the goddamn 3d TV/movie morons that still believe that was any fucking good. Morons.

I think it's kind of like PC gaming vs. Consoles used to be. Only dedicated gamers do VR now because it's still so expensive. If it ever price dropped VRchat would fill up with the same normies who used to play Second Life.

>>What makes you think normies will ever get into video games?
they never did
LoL and fortnite arent games
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into the internet?
they can't even google
they can only post shit on facebook
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into Game of Thrones?
normie shit from the start
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into comic book movies?
normie shit from its conception
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into roleplay?
degenerate normie shit since the big bang
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into anime?
who even cares about anime
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into cosplay?
who even cares about faggot shit
>>What makes you think normies will ever get into streaming?
streaming = low effort content = normie friendly

For VRChat memes a smartphone with HD screen and a gyroscope sensor is enough. You don't need expensive VR gear for memes.

Racing/flying games don't seem like they'd be as fun on VR as say Pavlov.

I'd prefer to just use a curved widescreen monitor and joystick/staring wheel for the immersion effect vs a digital staring wheel/flight stick I'm imaginary grabbing with my digital hands via the hand controllers.

I guess if you could combine the headset but still use the wheel or joystick it'd be funner though.

you seem upset

VR and Ready Player One suck. Wait for AR and The Diamond Age or at least Dennou Coil.

lol do you even brain

you're supposed to use a real wheel/joystick while in VR

You're clearly out of touch with normal society if you think everyone outside of Jow Forums just plays fortnite and only uses the internet for facebook.

>Who even cares
The point is all those things that used to be seen as nerd shit suddenly became widely popular.

>he doesn't understand how VR is different from mere 3D glasses

Robo Recall and Beat Saber look like high quality accessible arcade games.

There's also a whole bunch of walking simulators with puzzle elements.

If anything, we need some hardcore shit. How about Steel Battalion?

Agreed. I made the thread but posted one of HeyImBee's videos because it's hilarious how wrong Hollywood jews they think society would treat a VR paradise.

They think it'd be a cool second life getaway where you can be anything you want, but it quickly becomes yelling, flamewars, outdated memes, sexual harassment, casual racism, and trolling.

The only thing that can truly save us is Fractale, actually.

>You're clearly out of touch with normal society
bitch i am so in touch that i see through the bullshit

normies aren't getting into VR

> seen as nerd shit suddenly became widely popular
animay has always been popular

I've only played a few VR games excluding VR chat.

Pavlov is my favorite one. It's a Counterstrike knockoff but in VR. Even has the same game modes as CS:S like TTT and GG and surf, some of the maps like DE_Dust are in it too.

youtu.be/dgCN5iQDa3I

>animay has always been popular
underage b&

You clearly haven't experienced the days when people got harrassed by peers for liking anime/vidja/whatever.
I remember being considered a potential school shooter purely because I play videogames. I didn't even play FPS at the time.

This. Anime being popular happened around the time Crunchyroll and Netflix started popping up, specifically things like AoT and SAO

>it quickly becomes yelling, flamewars, outdated memes, sexual harassment, casual racism, and trolling.

Thats just the regular internet but in VR. I dont see the problem.

To be honest, can anything really save us? One of the most popular games of all times among normies came to VR and people instantly used it to shitpost.

youtu.be/47stG5HmSGI

People who are into VR sims don't use the hand controllers, but use a dedicated HOTAS or steering wheel depending on the game. Sim is a different type of fun, it's not instant gratification like it is in Pavlov or Onward, but it can be a lot more rewarding. Best moments I've had were 4 hour long-range interdiction or bombing missions with a dozen other people flying off your wing. Shit-talking on the radio, hitting up in-air refueling checkpoints to get more gas, going on autopilot while eating a snack or drinking a beer or cider. It's comfy as fuck. Kind of like VRC, but with jets. Then final approach, things get heated, everyone is coordinating on the radio, you're getting spiked on the radar by enemy units, it's really engaging and immersive. Nothing else in VR comes close.

True. And I love it. I guess my thread's point was more of a deconstruct of how the internet and youth work and what trends take over vs. what the out of touch hollywood jews think would happen in the situation.

Adding on to the deconstruct while veering off the path, seems more like Spiel(((berg))) was trying to force hollywood pop culture + him and his friends movies into relevancy with all it's references.

It seemed as out of touch as a youtube rewind.

animay has always been positively aired on the telly, and everywhere else. the people who would hate on gaming would just think of it as a normal cartoon for kids, and couldn't tell the difference

gaming (real gaming, not fornite) has always been exponentially more niche

Interesting. I kind of want to get MineCraft VR for that reason so I can just shitpost with my old /v/ group and get the long term gratification of building shit.

Any other games you'd suggest? I'm not big into flying games (I suck at them) but I'm good at fighting games and racing games. Not into shooting games much but I did enjoy Pavlov.

I played one single player game with swords that I enjoyed but I don't remember what it was, my buddy had it.

VRChat is only normie when you're hanging around normie circles. I don't know how bad it's gonna be in the future, but imo vrchat is now one of best re-creations of the old internet. It's full of interesting, creative nerds, interacting with those people is a pleasure. You just have to avoid normie circles.

idk what ready player one is
>Or do you think it'll continue being a trollfest and memes like VRChat?
itll stay like that for a while but if it gets huge adoption itll turn out like the internet is now where everywhere tries to tie everything to your name and everything you do can have serious real world consequences

Might be a cultural difference. I just noticed you said telly which I believe is British, right? Here in America when I was in High School we mocked weaboos, especially the Naruto headbanders and Naruto runners.

Though DBZ was the exception that was okay to watch. Now everyone watches anime though.

vr is not dead its barely even begun, in my city centre there are 3 shops which have opened up in the past year where to pay to go play vr games, theres also a pub that does the same thing, it is very very far from dead

Attached: 1521025849480.png (300x300, 106K)

Ready Player One was a movie that came out last year by Spielberg where they're in a dystopian future and everything is shit, but everyone plays this game called OASIS which is VR.

They make it look like the end all be all game where you can race, shoot, dance, buy shit, be whatever you want. It's chock full of video game and pop culture references to try to appeal to the nerds but it's out of touch references that only the Hollywood kikes who directed the movie thought would be popular among the mainstream, like Iron Giant and Halo.

Literally the only anime reference is a Gundam at one point, and they make the game look like srs bsns.

That's not an exageration either, watch this clip. This is what they thought VR would be like. Compare that to the VRchat video I posted in the OP

youtu.be/O3MkVi9O3_A

this looks so fucking cringe
>lets put every hollywood/normie vidya character into the fight

lmao normies pay to see this gay shit?

Most of these references are just marketing that was paid for. It's effectively product placement.
It also makes no fucking sense in a movie that is otherwise about 80s references.

The out of touch thing also reminds me of SAO.
If that story was more believable, people wouldn't run around like normal human beings in cities. They'd chill out on rooftops because all higher level players can jump really high and you are immune to damage inside of cities. The guys on the highest buildings would be the guys with the highest stats, making it an ideal meeting point for high level players.
People would also find exploits and shit. They wouldn't just behave like in a fantasy world with stats.

It was actually extremely popular. My dad loves it. They appeal to normies by making "nerd" references that everyone gets.

it looks so fucking terrible

Attached: 5aa1db52c58226a2f362e685ce0f0edbc53de54e3f9e7801771ae689269c20e9.jpg (1137x640, 33K)

I never saw SAO. I always figured it was an Isekai where the guy went into his favorite video game world. I ignored it because I'm not an Isekai fan.

Is it actually VR?

The second part is even more cringe. Le ebic gaymer girl throws a hand grenade into mecha godzilla's eye from iron giant's hand to kill the evil corporation who's trying to take over the game's superman avatar making him explode into coins. No, really.

youtu.be/dUGtkHm_H-o

i feel visually assaulted

that video is literal rape

Because it allows you to do everything normies love, except you have the comfort of being at home all the time, everything is free and legal, and you can be whatever you want. Social potential of VR is infinite

>got vr some time ago
>shooting people in vr
>racing cars in vr
>meeting up with people in vr
>talking in vr
>getting drunk in vr
>dancing in vr
>a month or two had passed
>(irl) best friend is in the city
>hanging out with him and friends, talking, having fun
>suddenly, i realize that right now all i want is that i could go back home and dance as a cute anime girl along with other vr people i know

I could probably be considered a normie, and yet all i want now is to get all of my other normie friends into it
except i'd have to keep them separate from some of my properly degenerate vr friends
. If facebook actually manages to sell VR to turbonormies, it could become a social revolution that will change normies' perception of who they are.

>>getting drunk in vr
jesus christ user

It's about a dude who really wanted to realize his fantasy world.
So he created a VR game and built a literal killer feature into the VR headsets.
The headsets are of the "jack in and interact mentally with the game world" kind.
Once the game has launched, people realize there's no logout button. Then they also find out that the VR headset will fry their brain if they die ingame or someone tries to remove their headset.

Ten thousand people stuck in a VRMMORPG and the only way to freedom is to beat the last boss.
Half the story is about the MC adopting a damaged AI as his daughter and marrying his waifu. At least the waifu is an actually competent person.

It's not as good as it sounds.

From a Jow Forums standpoint, it actually has really good CGI and effects.

From a person who watches movies for more than explosions and actions scenes and feeling pandered to with pop culture references standpoint, don't expect much.

He's not wrong. I don't know if any of you remember synchtube or instasync (cytube replaced it now), but people used to get drunk on camera and watch movies/videos with each other all the time from the comfort of their own home in groups.

Or just get drunk and shitpost in chat.

All those words and not a single meaningful one, yikes

Sounds awful. Reminds me of the plot of this Korean manga called Hardcore Leveling Warrior where they log their consciousness into a game in their sleep called Lucid Adventure. Except later it gets deeper and you realize the world is real because witches and shit stole god tools and the powers collide and fuck if I know what happened

Ah yes, watching movies in vr, also a big thing, forgot to mention. VRChat has multiple worlds designed for this purpose, feels good to be able to discuss stuff with people during/after the show.

It's amazing how he got every single point wrong.

Yeah, they are quality. But I meant more like AAA games like call of duty, tomb raider etc. These normie friendly games with many different aspects than just well made cockpit. These games actually cost tons of money.

Minecraft VR is shit. It's not meant for VR.
Try SUPER HOT, illusion's porn games, vrchat, beat saber etc.

every weekend it's one big gay party on vrchat with /vg/ anons

It seems like at that point it becomes a gimmick. I'd prefer rabb.it or synchtube or it's many varriants at that point.

Synchtube was a place people could add videos from multiple places to a playlist and chat about it in a room with your friends, with features like voteskip, polls, cameras, iframe embeds for things like twitch and livestream and the video time would be synched up with everyone.

Was way ahead of it's time, Zucc tried it with WatchParty but it failed horribly.

Attached: file.png (1024x586, 291K)

Is Superhot multiplayer? I saw someone play it and it looked like a single player game.

Actually, the very first season is alright. It was interesting, fun, romantic etc. But after they beat the first game it turns into shit.
It was never meant to be long series. Creator wanted to end it after the first game, but it turned out to be golden cow so he started to milk it like crazy.
Log horizon > SAO

>he didn't do LSD in VR
You are like a baby.

>LSD in VR

Oh shit next time I go to Athens to play VR with my friends I'm gonna bring some acid. See if I can get him to play a horror game or something and convince him everything is actually happening.

>Log horizon > SAO
Log Horizon is an entirely different kind of show. It also suffers massively from autistic over-exposition for basic MMO terms and a lot of the "genius" of glasses guy consists of the basest of basic MMO tactics.

It's fun, but also quite dumb.

DATABASE

I watched a lot of Isekais unfortunately. Only Isekai I truly enjoyed was Konosuba. Didn't follow any of the rules these other MMO type animes do in that the MC was just a selfish cunt who wanted to enjoy the world and didn't actually care about the plot. Also he wasn't a typical nosebleed at the site of a woman MC, he had no problems hitting women and going to whore houses.

youtu.be/NqLzs_RxRhU

No, but it's super fun.

The fun part is that I wasn't aware I'm on acid. I wanted to do microdose with friend but we dosed it wrong so I took few times more. I forgot about it, party started, we smoked weed and I went to play super hot. And when I started endless mode the LSD kicked in and I was fucking pwning. I didn't felt any fatigue, reacting so quickly and it was so immersive. I only realized I am on acid when I went to take a shower afterwards and all the sounds combined making a psytrance out of nothing.

If you want good, unusual isekai, try no game no life.
Most people doesn't even remember it's isekai since it's doesn't follow all these overused tropes.

No Game no Life is plebeian tier.
Mondaiji is where it's at.

I want to fuck You.
S2 never.

>Thats just the regular internet but in VR.
Is there a VR imageboard of some kind yet? Not sure how that should work, but I can think of several possibilities.

we are vr imageboard, you're a dynamic smug anime reaction image in vr and you can control it as you please. big part of the vrchat fun is playing stupid scenes and taking photos.

it's real time though, nothing except photos stays for other people to see

VRChat if you post the images and write on the wall I guess

also graffiti worlds

I am aware of VRChat, of course, but I was thinking specifically about options that aren't a chatroom or real-time. Basically, something where real-time interaction with other people is not an option, but it still takes advantage of VR as a medium.

>Is there a VR imageboard of some kind yet?
yes Jow Forums

you can browse and post on Jow Forums in VR

Sure, but then every website is trivially VR.

It will be a huge clusterfuck of 12 year olds with vidya avatars and 40 year old autismos with gay animu avatars.

>will be
You mean is

Is, and they hit on eachother lying about their age.

>tfw you cute a mute and then suddenly you realize that "04" at the end of his nickname is probably his age
yep, it's a dangerous place

Attached: 45374737447.gif (268x270, 425K)

>next year 04 will be legal in several states
feel old?

>04
are you trying to avoid getting banned or what

>Ready Player One?
zoomer garbage

No. 2004 was 16 years ago next year.

Attached: file.png (827x512, 137K)

>zoomer
Quite the opposite. It was made by boomers for Gen Y'ers who think they're still cool

Zoomers are on VR chat shitposting

i'd say average age in vrc is somewhere around 25-30, but i like your theory
