he's an intelligent one amongst us. Has PhD in Quantum Computing I think.

"Measuring a codebase by lines of code is like measuring an airplane by how much it weighs" - Bill Gates

That's basically it.
I respect 500,000 fucking lines of code regardless, though

He shits out streets of code

Calibre is disgusting in every way, the interface, the settings, how you use and install plugins, the "queues", editing metadata, it's like everything you want to do opens 10 different interfaces and windows instead of feeling like an unified experience. The "flow" is all broken and everytime I stop using the program for a few months I have to relearn all over again how to do that shit.

how the fuck a simple ebook organizer has 500k LOC? Even if he wrote the graphicals from scratch it wouldn't be that much

ITT seething whiteoid kleetuses who vote for people like drumpf only to cover up their own shortcomings and low IQ

Why the hell is the program called kitty anyways?

Is there an alternative though? All I ever use it for is changing some PDF documents into epub for my ereader. Otherwise its practically useless in every other sense.

Wow his PhD is from Caltech, I assumed it was from some nonsense, pointless, indian diploma mill

Now I'm surprised at how shit calibre is though. It's a fucking ebook manager how does it manage to be so slow? It's worse than electron apps

Calibre is really nice
I applaud this pooer

It has feature boat. Lots of it

>t. kovid

fuck off poo

Ah yes, the guy who says he will fork and maintain the entire python 2 programming language.

>he's an intelligent one amongst us.
>amongst us
I'm Indian.

It's like something from 2006. Which it basically is. What's surprising is that it hasn't kept up with the times.

It has useless features like Newsfetch that worked a decade ago, probably. It also can convert between various formats.

Pun on TTY.

Calibre is very dated, but I like kitty.
Kitty + ranger + zathura = an ebook manager that doesn't make you want to die.

The real man behing google Sanjay Ghemawat worked with Jeff Dean to transform Google into what it is today but you will never hear about him only about Dean even though they evenly contributed to Google's search engine

They know how to put Band-Aids on issues that could be fixed by planning out the code more effectively. They get results but the code becomes a nightmare to maintain/update.

Line count is productivity?

he's good
but he's a prick when it comes to asking him to implement features that should be default in some of his programs

like kitty, for example.
he sets bizarre restrictions on the user and when you ask him why he pretty much just tells you to fuck off and do it yourself.

he's an uppity dothead, that's for sure.

>calibre
>the world's shittest and messiest digital library software

wew colour me surprised lad

daily reminder that boeing hired $9/hr pajeets to code the 747-Max software

I don't really like Calibre but I was forced to use it because there wasn't a clear alternative. It worked well enough.
*tips fedora*
kitty seems nice but it does a lot more than emulate a terminal
()
pretty based but that's a lot of text to prop up the undeclared conclusion that he doesn't give a fuck
also
>caring about how your terminal ranks on google

>tripfagging on Jow Forums

hare krishna motherfucker

Kitty bug.

Tried watching porn on kitty and the FBI shot my dog.

Kudos to him.
My only gripe with calibre is how absurdly slow the database is when writing a single custom value.

what a fag

I stopped using pajeets. Because the time it took fixing their stuff took just as long as making it myself.

lmaaao

Attached: dous.png (1048x336, 44K)

that's pretty based

seriously how could a book manger take half million lines using the highest level language possible, aka python? not to mention how slow Calibre is

Didn't he lose his shit once because someone asked him to merge in a critical security patch quickly? That said, Calibre is a great software that I use frequently.

tbqh it's very confusing and disheartening to change your project's name after releasing it

then he shouldn't have maliciously created a naming conflict to piggyback off of a third party project in the first place

It has an insane list of features for every single device and format

Dilate more you tranny poo

There would be no CoC's if everyone had this Pajeet's attitude.

I wondered why there are just few open issues on kitty, I submitted one today, was closed after 10 minutes or so with "can not reproduct" because it's working for him lol.

github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty/issues/1825

Don't like guy xD

>changing some PDF documents into epub
But it's absolutely fucking dogshit at converting PDFs. An image layer makes it choke every single time.
>It's a fucking ebook manager how does it manage to be so slow
Fucking this, it takes ages to load even the simplest text document, yet whenever you ask for a better solution everyone is like JUST USE CALIBRE, BRO as if this clusterfuck is in anyway acceptable.

>mfw this would actually benefit from a rust rewrite

hey guys
i'm gonna make an ide that can do like every file but also natively take up 3 threads a tab.

I'll call it windows and wonder why people want me to change the name

Pajeets are unironically based and redpilled.

please do the needful and import thousands more of his kind to the US

This guy is just the equivalent to a true white nerd... most white people aren't like that and neither are most pajeets. You can tell hes never had sex and probably got touched as a child and compensates this with pure autistic coding and math skills.

Also calibre is awesome and i use it to strip adobe DRM from all my illegaly purchased PDFS =')

They coded for the specifications that they got. Coders are not aviation engineers.

based and redpilled

works on my machine

wtf i love pajeets now

Calibre is a mess. It's a big fat mistake.

HAHAHAHAHA based and krishnapilled

I used to use calibre because it was pretty much the only choice you had when it comes to e-readers. But I haven't touched it ever since I found out about Foliate.

They can do the same as you while being cheaper.

yeah if technical debt is free

nah
kovid goyal is an outlier, unironically god tier programmer

clash of clans

That nervous feel when I ended up downloading recovery software and image from some indians to unbrick my phone (OnePlus 6t McLaren).

At least it worked.

Stop falling for corporate propaganda.

Indians are extremely productive and motivated. Largely to either escape their shithole, provide better lives for their family, or true to improve themselves mentally. I used to have an Indian stepfather. They're very productive people(and largely alcoholics) and for the most part do decent work. It's when you get a large conglomeration of them together where shit hits the fan, or in this case, the side of the road. Like everybody you got good and bad. Get enough people together and you're gonna have issues. Add in the massive population, and first language that makes dictating English very difficult, and then sprinkle on top shitty hygiene and culture; you have the perfect recipe for an unlikeable people.

He has written kitty terminal.

Some are productive and great.

Most I have worked with are productive, but tend to just fuck up everything they touch.

So pretty much like any other racial subset. Experienced workers with years or decades under their belt that can solve problems will make a business. The shit ones you can pay pennies for are a great way to ruin anything they touch, waste time on rework, and require significantly more hand holding. They cost a business time, resources, money and reputation if you put them in front of anything more complicated than menial tasks.

They can also be some of the most insufferable motherfuckers on this earth in any management position.

>feature creep

India is an fuck huge country and one with culture divides that are very similar to Italy. Northern indians of high social heritage are very similar to europeans. Dealing with southerners from families of low social standing can definetely run into cultural clashes of the "do the needful" variety. But it just takes more work, there are no hopeless cases.

>phD in quantum computing

how is it possible to have a phD in a technology that doesnt even exist yet, its like having a phD in warp drive technology or fucking antigrav physics

because your official field doesn't necessarily have much to do with your actual work.
I have a PhD in inorganic chemistry but really I did theoretical electrochemistry.

Based. 10/10 did the needful.
What's the Reddit thread tho?

Before making a judgment, which party came up with the name first? The pajeet or the putty forkers?

inb4 "phd in quantum computing" shows as a job requirement for a frontend design job

>600k loc for an ebook library organizer
I can't think of anything that'd bloat that that much aside from metaprogramming a fuck ton of book relations into the program.
I doubt that has been done.

After this you sue for trademark violation.
