My microphone works perfectly on websites like vocaroo, but when I try to run mycroft.ai (voice recognition software) it doesn't seem to be able to load my microphone correctly.
The default GNOME volume mixer recognizes my mic but pavucontrol does not. All the sound recorded from pulseaudio sounds like static. I've tried changing the set-default-source to every available option but nothing works. Is my pulseaudio broken or something?

Hey Jow Forums bit of an emergency. I did a dumb and tried to remove a battery from my phone. And it started smoking. I took it outside but I'm not really sure what to do with it or how to check if it's safe. I dont want to throw it in the community dumpster and have a fire start because of me.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I can't figure this out myself. I play a lot of vidya with my friends on a personal Discord server. My microphone outputs through a Steinberg UR22 mkII interface, but I've also setup an audio cord that goes from one of my monitor into one of the inputs so if I have my PS4 or Switch connected to the monitor I can hear the game audio through my headphones. How would I go about making it so my interface only sends one input to discord (my microphone) but it sends both audio inputs directly to it's headphone jack? Is that even possible or would I have to buy some more equipment?

by default it downloads to c/users/xxxx but I don't want to download there, and if I move YouTube-dl to the folder I want to download into then cmd doesn't recognize commands

firewall shouldn't do much, but encryption can slow stuff down, especially on boot. i take it you're using Windows? If you can, get some extra RAM, 8GB will make a world of difference, and an SSD will make loading times much quicker.

Firevault is just the name of the setting that turns encryption on in MacOS, its for a family member going through graphic design that is forced to use a macbook in certain classes.

Using linux the laptop works perfectly but the second i have to use MacOS it shits the bed, any program takes minutes to open, not exactly responsive, etc.
But RAM wise is ok and CPU wise there is nothing intensive going on, and the HDD shows fine under a Linux USB, the only thing i noticed is that it was encrypted.

Oh sorry I misread. It's possible that encryption is slowing things down. Try swapping it out for an SSD or even just reinstalling the OS after backing up and wiping it. macOS isn't known for slowing down over time like Windows is, but it's possible there's programs slowing it down.

They have to be in a certain format. You can use Handbrake to convert videos into a format that the iPod can play, but this is very processor intensive.

You can also use VLC.app to transfer files to your device over wifi, and play them in the app. But it's VLC so be prepared for a lot of artifacting.

When trying to download a specific youtube video with youtube-dl, I get this error:

I don't see why the fuck it does this if I can download every other age-restricted video on their channel fine; it's just this specific one that hard fails.

I kept trying like a dozen times because I remember some porn site not working for download until like the third attempt somehow. But on this youtube video I get the same error every time. And it's not even a "restricted due to community guidelines" or whatever age-restriction; it's the manual one uploaders can set.

How are you "aware" you can do this on youtube? The amount of cheap dumbass videos people watch across like a 15 minute session is insane. I don't think it's possible to harvest ips from youtube views.

Alright lads. I am trying to install a pair of SSD's into an old build of mine running windows 10 on a HDD. I just moved and realized that I am missing the flash drive I used to use when installing new OSs and do not have a spare (and I do not have a CD burner/reader). My question is if I can somehow install Windows onto one of the SSDs and make it my primary boot without using a flash drive or CD?

I just checked mine and I'm always a lazy arse who whitelists everything if I can't immediately get all I want from a website.

My settings clearly show simply whitelisting wasn't enough: I had to click the three vertical buttons and uncheck the bottom two options that would otherwise be checked by default.

Not that anyone asked but I was able to download the video anyway by "Video DownloadHelper" but it's worse in every way to youtube-dl. Not to be rude to what's possible via a FF addon, but:

-it's so fucking slow on its "aggregating" stage. It's a 50mb video but this thing is only 50% done this after like 10 minutes
-isn't even just an addon: required sister .exe to be installed to download videos
-can't feed it links (as far as I can tell); you have to play the video in the highest quality to be able to rip it, which doesn't play well on my toaster

I'm assuming it's the same quality as youtube-dl would produce, though. But I still want to rip it using youtube-dl if possible, for consistency.
