yay more ugly cg anime

Good for 'em! Blender is a great piece of software that's foss

Good, maybe we'll get some panties drawing tool or some shit.

Khara literally means "feces" in Arabic.

Thanks Ahmed.
Very insightful.

Ubisoft also joined in backing Blender recently.

No problem, Kumar.

The fuck is going on.
The sudden storm in funding is strange as fuck.

second post is sadly correct

This is actually quite worrisome. Like all of a sudden, injecting money into Blender Foundation and Blender as if to save it from collapse.

In best case scenario, it's just a way of corporations to get some attention since Blender funding often gets reported on and in the worst way it's some sort of way to blow it out of proportion really quick, inject lots of new problem glasses, pink haired "code magicians" who will then rot it from the inside and therefore less competition again for the big boys since they otherwise couldn't neutralize it by just buying it out like they usually do.

I'm still hopeful and think it's just some new funding.

It's not "all of a sudden".
The reason they all jumped on it is eevee.
Blender is now able to show pretty much the final result of the rendering in realtime, making it a much better tool than anything autodesk can toss at.
Previously only pixar had a tool like that.

They saw how good the new 2.8 RC is which is close to final release.

The trannies aren't going to take over, Blender has their own BDFL; Ton Roosendaal.
In the latest Blender Today stream featuring Ton, they described the Unreal funding as "An investment in Blenders future."
It's far from dead. It's rising in popularity so hard that it's starting to overtake Maya/Max in the spaces they used to dominate.

Based. The goys complaning about trannies are seething fosslets with 0 stars on their fizzbuzz repos. Keep going Blender.

The major 3d software companies have priced themselves out of reach of hobbyists and young aspiring artists so now you have a generation of people using blender and companies are taking notice. Few want to deal with the licensing hassles anymore and Blender has reached a point where its feature competitive with the big 3d suites.

There are a ton of free tutorials and asset shares the make it so much more easier to get into Blender than Maya/3DS.

You thought adding a game engine to blender was the only weird addition? They're working on adding AI to control autonomous killdrones to blender. Blender Foundation is seizing control, they eliminated assange and now nothing can stop their world domination. One world goverment run by them in 2030, donate to the cause now or perish

I can't understand anything from his talks but Ton is based as fuck. He even survived an assassination attempt from autodesk.

I want to nakadashi eevee. The renderer and the pokemon.

this is a great thing. autodesk has bought every major 3d authoring toolchain and holds a serious monopoly. this is the industry finally having enough of it and investing in an affordable alternative, especially for Epic - they have a vested interest in making 3d authoring more accessible to get people to use their engine

That's kinda like saying "i want to install linux" on a board like this.
