>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>R3 3200G - Minimum 30-60fps gaming. The stronger 3400G sells for $150. (R3K APUs OCs better than R2K)
>R5 2600 - 60fps+ gaming CPU with great value
>R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU
>R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU
>R7 1700X - Budget video editing
>R9 3900X - Professional tasks

RAM
>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in code) recommended
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
>B-die is EOP, stock is limited

GPUs based on current pricing
1080p
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>(GTX 1660TI @ ~$230/Vega56 @ ~$270) - higher fps / more demanding games
>RX 5700 - higherer FPS
1440p
>RX 5700 - standard, 75-100FPS+
>RX 5700XT - higher fps
2160p (4K)
>RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing scales better into 4K than Navi does.
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Navi AIB models come mid-August. 5700 non-XT blower is alright, due to low power.

I replaced the stock past on a Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ with Kryonaut and got the exact same temps.
So for some AIB partner to use worse paste than even MX-4, that's fucking sad.

Just in case anybody wondered when the MSI MAX boards might come out:

I just pre-ordered one in Germany from a larger online shop for 95€ and they say it will 'probably' be available starting the 31st of July.

That's pretty much the price the non-MAX version sells for, so hopefully that's a sign that MSI doesn't plan on charging an extra 20€ for the 32MB bios.

Monitor is a 165hz 1440p gsync, I'm in the US. I also got about $450 for some of my old parts so that brings the price down a bit. I plan to use this for 3 years before selling and doing the same if there is a significant performance gain to be had(like in this case 4 cores -> 8 cores, over 100% gpu performance increase).
What do you think?
Going to replace the case fan and the one on the GPU cooler, 280mm radiator will go up front. With an AIO on both main parts as well as an additional 2x 120mm noctuas moving air I think it'll stay pretty quiet and cool even though it's small.

I don't know why I phrased it like that. In any case: Mindfactory

Any reason why BIOS can't find my SSD?

thanks

So I had a friend help me with this
pcpartpicker.com/list/f2k3KB
Did we fuck up?

You're spending $1100 more just to get about 25-30% more fps than a $800 build, but the build looks fine.

You didn't plug it in, or it's dead.

>used an ancient version to get wrong readings on purpose

is navi's frequency temperature dependant like pascal or turing?

>You didn't plug it in, or it's dead.
it was working earlier though
I haven't dropped it

Well it's not pictured but I also use a 1080p 240hz monitor depending on the game. I like keeping my games as close to 165hz as possible and there are 3 new games that aren't even out yet that I'll actually play(haven't played a AAA in like 5 years).
The 2080ti isnt even doing 165fps in most new AAA's on 1440p so I figured I had to at least go for it instead of a 2070 super or something.

i had a similar issue with a nvme

is it on a m.2 slot? you might have accidentaly disabled a few sata ports by connecting something to it

Cool. Apparently the B450 Gaming Plus Max is already available, price is a bit high tough.
Btw did singapore user report back on how it went with his Tomahawk Max?

i have no M.2 storage
The BIOS also does not See my HDD

Recommendations for a good cooler to get with my 3800x?

Attached: Current Thread.jpg (707x1000, 124K)

Yeah dude, you won't get 240fps in every game. You're insane for thinking that's achievable. Most games simply run shit no matter your hardware. That's why it's a stupid dragon to chase.

You're paying $1920 to just get about 30% higher FPS than you could get for $850. That's how it is. If you're fine with that, then go for it, it's whatever.

Yes... just like Polaris and Vega also where. IIRC Polaris gave like a 5% frequency improvement for each 10% you lowered the temp. It's just a physical fact of the process nodes.

Will a B450M Gaming Plus gimp a 3600?

>he got a 3800x
scythe fuma 2, scythe mugen 5 rev b, le grand macho rt, grand macho rev b, noctua nh d15, be quiet dark rock 4 pro or an AIO

Attached: 1523582705793.gif (416x307, 2.58M)

I'm looking for a new case:

europe
atx
needs at least a usb type c
ssd slot
as little leds as possible
budget 50€

any idea?

>just get a Ryzen 1700 and overclock it
Great fucking advice Jow Forums?

Attached: IMG_280711.jpg (3024x4032, 1.32M)

Stop stealing images from r*ddit

overclocking doesn't involve propane, m8. go back and read the instructions over again

>under 50€
>front type c
doubt, if you want type c then get a mobo with it

I'm telling you mon, give it 3 months and the only CPU that will actually hit their supposed boost rates will be the 3800x and the 3600x.

Any preferences among those coolers?

Attached: Current Thread2.jpg (707x1000, 138K)

2070 super or 5700 xt? been amd for awhile but been wanting to go nvidia this time, but the 5700xt is $150 cheaper but faster in most games

Daily reminder, purchase your graphics cards used. I got my 1080 TI FTW3 for 500 bucks, and nothing you can buy can compare to that deal which isn't even really uncommon these days. You can probably get a 1080ti for cheaper.

I'm getting 3800x in less then a month and plan on going with noctua, can't mess up with it and it's cheaper to buy them for me since I'm buying them directly in Austria.

Anything I should upgrade? I've been out of the loop when it comes to hardware.

Most taxing game I play is Apex Legends and I can get a stable 110 fps on a 1440 monitor with max settings, but I believe I have shadows turned down. GPU has only ever hit a max of 60. Outside of that, the most taxing thing would be SVP.

Attached: Uhhh.jpg (837x571, 53K)

be quiet dark rock 4 pro because it looks better than the noctua, scythe fuma 2 if you have ram clearance problems, AIO if you have the money and want RGB

I'd wait until august for the drivers to mature and AIB cards to come out for the 5700XT.

>I paid $500 used for the performance of a $400 5700 XT new
Are you trying to brag or is this some self-deprecation fetish?

Is 3 top exhaust fans and 3 front intake fans on a 360mm aio a good setup? Will the VRMs have enough airflow on top of them?

Have you removed it and put it in again?

Noctua NH-U14S? And get a 3700X.

Get a SSD if you don't have one already, a cheaper board, faster ram, a not shit case and a 1660 (Ti) or Vega 56.
If you feel adventurous, go with a R5 3600 + B450 Tomahawk.

>needs at least a usb type c
>budget 50€
Pretty much impossible, filtering on Geizhals yields only 2 cases and they're both most likely shit.

Attached: shitcases.png (770x294, 48K)

>I'd wait until august for the drivers to mature and AIB cards to come out for the 5700XT.
was gonna wait for AIB but didn't realize that'd be in august. was hoping to build it next week for the canadian long weekend. might buy a 2070 super and return it when 5700xt aib cards are out

thanks

Made my thread before realizing this one exists.
Please halp.

>b360
just leave

Why would you buy an i5-9600 to begin with when you can get a 3600, or for cheap get a 2600/X?
So your question is just irrelevant. It's like asking what the best cactus to stick up your asshole is. Ideally, you'd just not stick a cactus up your asshole.

At least in the US, GPUs usually have restocking fees for this very reason.

the board is fine for a locked i5, not sure about the bios update maybe they sell the board with an upgraded bios but you would need to ask to the seller

Do you guys think current X399 boards will be compatible with Zen2 Threadripper?

Attached: 1528738091032.jpg (1000x720, 138K)

Have you removed it and put it in again?
yes

does it has power? take pics?

>At least in the US, GPUs usually have restocking fees for this very reason.
>americans cucked again

3600X and 3800X are the trash bin that can't hit the clockspeeds of the 3600/3700X at that low TDP, so they let them draw more power and sell them more expensive.

Try if it works with another mobo? Clear CMOS?

I got it about half a year back at least but still wasn't bad for the price, with the FTW3 crap it's definitely significantly stronger than the XT.

Again you can easily do better now but I'd still recommend buying used since graphics card technology hasn't made any real leaps in years.

an a 320 wont

Locked i5 is kind of under rated. No one ever considers the locked intel CPUs. Which is fair enough considering there is no premium on 'unlocked' ryzen shit and the 3600 is the best value for nearly every use case outside of very high 1080p refresh.
I was checking out the 9400, 8700, 9700 etc and they do pretty well. Even the i3 9350 is kind of interesting since it's only $99. $350 5700, $99 9350, $65 mobo, $90 ram and you got a great 60 or 75hz box for dirt cheap.
Although yeah 3600 would only be another $100 I suppose.

b board for a budget intel is really bad. they are just too expensive

if you positively must do something with it, sell it. as someone that has a i7 8700 and a h310m s2p, i have regrets over everything.

Is a 3600 good for 2k gaming or should I spend the extra cash on a 3700x?

Been years since building anything, not too knowledgeable on the real complicated stuff admittedly. Threw this together after lurking. I trust that you'll tell me if anything here is retarded Jow Forums

uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/dW8BNQ

Monitor is 1080p, 144Hz, build would pretty much be just for gaming at most.

Budget is around 1k, give or take.

Attached: 01010101.png (1272x670, 52K)

anyone? i plan to pair it up with a 3700x and im still looking for a mobo

3700x for futureproofing

>Why would you buy an i5-9600 to begin with when you can get a 3600, or for cheap get a 2600/X?

both of which are worse for gaming then a i5 9600

Attached: 1080vs1440.png (3631x1451, 3.01M)

Is the 2080 super that much better than a 5700XT that it's worth another $300+? Gaymen rig

Do you want to overclock ram? Then get the ballistix. Otherwise there's not any difference in performance.

>STILL waiting for 5700xt aibs to come out
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

where the fuck do you see a locked i5 there

just sell that shit and buy a z board

is it that hard

tl dr no, too expensive for so little gain

2070s is sufficient for you

Lookin to upgrade my CPU, MOBO and memory- on some old hardware and it's starting to show its age, not to mention im getting pretty tired of worrying over this 8350's nightmarish temperature problems. Got a budget of about 300$ to throw around on parts

bump

Attached: 1469379171461.png (1156x999, 534K)

>does it have power
not sure how to tell
what would it mean in either case
I'll try getting it working with a old motherboard

I want to use a specific B360 board to fit the color theme in my build.

there is no 9600 on your chart
why are you so dumb?

>300$
do you game? do you have a monitor and case already?

trying to stay close to 100FPS 1440p, do I need something memey like 2080ti or will a 2080 be enough?

Updating from a 1060 6gb.

Attached: 1376896298107.gif (350x291, 935K)

Who else Ryzen running 90 degreed C?

But why not a 5700XT then? I'm 100% fine keeping $150 and losing 2 FPS.

just get a z board that looks like it

even if that chart had a 9600f its performance would be nowhere close to the 9600k

B boards wont even let you overclock memory. its a absolute waste over a Z board and utterly expensive over a H board for no benefit

>Caring about a color theme
An absolute brainlet move.

2070s will do i belive.

id honestly tell you to get the xt and a watercooling part that just the xt. dont gamble with whenever you will tolerate or not the noise.

also wait for the aib cards or even a possible 5800

The specs won't mean shit in 6 years, but it will still look nice.

>just get a z board that looks like it
there are none, not even close

>The specs won't mean shit in 6 years, but it will still look nice.
how do people like you get jobs

fucking paint one. get one that has heatsinks covering everything and hydro dip it like in that LTT video

2070S will be more than enough especially if you OC it, if you want to save a buck then get the 5700XT

Noise isn't a problem because I wear headphones. But I guess I'll wait for other cards and buy everything else now.

2070 Super OC will get you ~100fps in 1440p

I'm sorry former Ryzen Bros. I just couldn't take the BSOD's, memory problems, 65C idle temps and not even hitting proper boost clocks anymore. Returned my Asus Pro WS-X570 Ace and Ryzen 3900X in exchange for pic related.

I'll be pulling for you all for AMD, motherboard manufacturers, and Windows to fix the various issues.
