It was originally some 6 core phenom based PC, I use to buy a new PC every 12 to 18 months. Then intel went forever 4 core mode, since I do 3d modeling 4 core cpus didn't offer much reason to upgrade, since this computer was sticking around longer than expected I shoved a r290x in it thinking, surely some new CPUs will come out soon. The r290x blower was loud so I got a water block and quickly threw it together again thinking surely new CPUs that are more than 10% faster or so will come out soon and I will assemble the water cooling properly. Then nothing worth while came out and I was stuck with it like that for 6 years. I don't dare pull it apart as the motherboard must be over 12 years old now and some solder joint will probably fail. I will retire it for a zen2 ryzen 16 core or zen2 threadripper probably. I was forced to replace the phenom x6 with bulldozer a while ago because of fucking AVX only binaries, the pile of shit is significantly slower.
