Without resorting to memes, why is older stuff more "soulful" than newer stuff, regardless of your age during its release?

(Yes, I realize the irony of saying "without resorting to memes")

>hold on grandpa

You have to rewind youtube videos before returning them.

less automation (people care, robots dont)

When you think about it, that we need something with access speed like SSDs to do even the most minimal tasks (i.e. starting the computer and stopping the computer) is fucking disgusting.

I refuse to believe that's real simply because there's not enough space for the head to fully arch back.

And what are you going to say next? That wrestling is fake too? GTFO zoomer

fashion and design was less minimal meaning more expression

imagine if someone asked you to draw a picture with 10 colors. then asked you to draw with 2. its a limited pallette of soul

two on my desktop for my gaming volume.
Works fine for me.
Tbh if i was to rebuild it, i'd probably not even worry with the SSD boot disk. doesn't seem to make big enough of a difference considering i restart my computer about once a month

I see a naked fat guy sitting down on a glass coffee table with his dicknballs flopping hard, and doing a diarrhea.
All this from the perspective of being under the glass, and looking up while hard as 10,000 diamonds, and I'm not even gay.
Anons please provide a psychoanalysis.

Restored an old Knight radio - 32volts.
From the mid-30's
Sounds beautiful

Attached: CIMG0862.jpg (528x704, 163K)

Nobody bought those because they were for recording mostly right?

What is the command for that

it was the Betamax of audio- just never caught on

I had one. A nikko.
The heat seems to make the top one super hot but it never failed. Sounds great though.

Eew

Did sanyo ever make anything high end?

Is that in Prague?

The next step from SSDs is something like persistent RAM
We would have gone full circle to the days of ROM where your software was already loaded on system power on

Anyone remember these?

>the absolute size of those fucking keys

That looks like any old ibm? Never heard of deskmate

lel. the old Seagate 251s' (mfm) drives made really distinctive sounds, one of which was the heads being parked. you can listen to them on youtube. you can also hear them in the Computer Room level in the original Doom video game.

Mine (the actual one in the pic) works perfectly fine. All I had to do was replace the belt which drives the tape spools. I guess the capacitors will go bad at some point and will need replacing, but that hasn't happened yet.
They made some high end Beta machines in the early days of the format. There's a really nice front loader with membrane transport buttons and a really cool LED indicator for the amount of tape remaining, but I can't remember the model off the top of my head. That one was pretty high end in its time.

I don't know. Could you compare a sanyo to a technics? Or high end sony?

Some panasonic stuff was superb.

>Could you compare a sanyo to a technics? Or a high end sony?
I'm afraid I can't. I don't have much experience with Beta machines, they were relatively rare in my country. That VTC-5000 is the only Beta VTR I've ever owned. Here's a quick snap of the specs, as stated on the manual. It's quite the barebones machine, it doesn't even display color while in still mode.
>Some panasonic stuff was superb.
Their VHS VTRs were some of the best IMO. Even their low end linear mono machines had very nice picture quality (for the format, anyway). Not to mention Matsushita transports make the most satisfying mechanical noises and have some of the smoothest operation, even if they're an absolute pain in the ass to align if anything goes wrong with the eject mechanism.

I miss maximum PC. it was a top read and an issue had good re-read value depending on the mood you were in.

No-one really thinks this about toms hardware and gamers nexus, huh.

Nice! I have this one in white... the exact model appearing in Groundhog Day.

Tandys are true Boomer tech. They were all but gone by the 90's.

My father had a C64 though. I didn't know jack other than how to get a floppy in the drive and LOAD "*",8,1 to play vidyagaems. He had a massive collection of pirated shit and bootlegs since they had a software trading group at work and a guy who could crack copy protections like nobody's business (defense contractors had serious engineering power back then).

beautiful

I remember thinking this was the coolest looking computer when I was 10 years old, damn it looks tacky now though

It's a Tandy, they were basically the thing up until DOS became standard

Cool Mandel, brot.

that's a folk legend, retard

I had a 1000TX, it was pretty comfy. I remember playing TMNT on it with the red copy-protection book.

>for production
Couldn't be further from the truth (it was a compressed format, nobody producing music wants that). And unlike betamax, minidiscs did catch on, in large parts of Europe and were very popular in Japan for even longer periods.

Holy shit!
That's a good looking battle station.

80s stereo equipment will never be topped
It was an era where people could have fun with their music and the future was defined by hard edges and over abundance rather than sleekness and minimalism
