>implying I use chrome

Attached: 1560515038040.jpg (708x1001, 46K)

what does this mean in layman terms? no encryption anymore? will chrome pass everything through its servers so they can feed you ads regardless of adblockers?

>what does this mean in layman terms? no encryption anymore
no the protocols still exist, they are just not shown anymore in the url bar

Simplified transport system. Even the small bits of reduction in texts being set to the servers will be a huge savings in bandwidth and minor speed increase in processing.

The Botnet will hide ever more and more from the user.

After all, it's too confusing for them. :^)

Just look at the nice colors and click on the adverts, goy. Let us worry about all that difficult "security" and "privacy" stuff. Trust us.

more like rip file:///, ftp://, etc.

that too. also i forgot to mention that www. got removed too.

"" and "" are never sent over the network. They are used by browser to choose the protocol.

I'm completely OK with this as long as you have the option of showing verbose URLs. Doesn't seem like a big deal.

>Doesn't seem like a big deal
fucking normie

>Doesn't seem like a big deal.
And that's why so many jews got caught by the Nazis.
"Surely things won't get any worse... Everything will work out eventually."

>And that's why so many jews got caught by the Nazis.
kek

Can someone explain what this means and the benefits of it?

Can't escape it. Welcome to Capitalism. Play the game or die alone like Richard "Communist Feet Eater" Stallman using your GEN TWO laptop.

listen, I like hating on megacorps more than most, and I hate dumbing down of things, but omitting the protocol in the address bar does not look like a big deal, PROVIDED THAT it's a purely aesthetic change and you can show the verbose URL. The vast majority of websites use https at this point anyway.

Google is chopping off parts of URLs when displayed to users: , , www., m.. Depending on how they choose to implement it, if you copy the URL, it won't work in a normal browser. This breaks things while being of not benefit to user whatsoever.

>the benefits of it?
Its so that normies dont get confused with the complicated syntax. Thats the whole reason behind this.

I didn't think of people making links that can only be followed properly in Chrome, until other browsers then have to follow suit so as not to break the web itself.
Fuck.

>load every simple page with 100000000000000000000000TB of javascript
>oh no but it's 4 or 5 letters that are causing so much bandwidth :)

> PROVIDED THAT it's a purely aesthetic change and you can show the verbose URL
Of course, of course! We'll put an extra "show boring dweeb url" option in it, just for you!

Patch note update: we're getting rid of the "show boring dweeb url" option. :^)

This is only about displaying and possibly copying URL in bar, not about URLs in pages. A "mysite.com/abc.txt" link on a "myothersite.com" host already works, and is interpreted as a link to "myothersite.com/mysite.com/abc.txt", and google can't change that because they will break myriads of sites.

>Patch note update: we're getting rid of the "show boring dweeb url" option. :^)
This is realistically how it will happen.

>as long as you have the option
Google never fucking gives you meaningful options, and when they do, they take it away after a few months

this... also the letters arent gone.. they are obviously still there, they just dont show, so there is no bandwidth save at all..

This isn't nearly as bad as Google showing AMP pages as the original page
androidpolice.com/2019/04/16/amp-pages-will-now-show-original-url-in-chromes-address-bar/

Fair point.

oh fuck now this is really shitty

If you have to remember only one thing, let it be this:

Corporations are never interested in (You)
They are interested in your money
Just like con artists, muggers, and other criminals

Sure thing but.. Im not paying google mate

I don't think that's the case. Most normalfags don't even use the address bar for actual URLs anyway. It's not like you actually have to type http(s)://www. anymore like back in the day. And it's not like anyone even bothers typing in anything that way instead of just typing "youtube" and getting redirected, or getting google search results, or using a bookmark, or a list of commonly used websites in the browser, etc.

you are the commodity. google's consumers are the companies they sell your info to.

The aim is to make building a new site as confusing as possible.
A noob configuring their own http server will never realize that www. is a specific subdomain and not just for show, causing endless confusion when troubleshooting why the plain domain doesn't work but www. does, and why it doesn't show up on chrome.

>just typing "youtube" and getting redirected, or getting google search results
GOD I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT... they dont even get how to visit a fucking website

Now you are thinking like a pajeet!

If you're using Google, you're indeed not the customer but the product.
The only reason corporations ever do anything is to make money out of it.
The more money they have, the more power they have.
The more power corporations have, the less power you (as a citizen) have.

ok this is retarded

use elinks

I lost count of how many times I've seen people search Google in Google to open google.
>you know you don't have to do that, right?
>you were already on Google when searched Google.Com
>yeah well I just learned it this way, not gonna change now

Attached: 1564364981205.jpg (503x436, 48K)

>yeah well I just learned it this way, not gonna change now

You are all fucking retarded

no u

>implying firefucks won't copy them one year later
they're controlled opposition

Or he just won't implement www. like every other sane person today.

yeah and if someone then types www. they will not be able to reach the website

What the fuck do you think is a "normal browser"? If you type in a URL into chrome, firefox or edge already without http:// and/or www. it works anyway because the browser assumes those to be there even if you don't type them.

>making ASSumptions
cope chromedrone

Attached: 1564193693359.jpg (2000x2000, 235K)

Then just make a redirect from www to main domain.

if you dont implement www there cant be a redirect

it will still work because browser and server will negotiate what user exactly wants and pick between desktop/mobile website and unsafe/encrypted communication

www. is an anachronism because domains and subdomains are now 99% used by website and nobody needs a subdomain that indicates user wants to specifically access the website under that domain

kys

are you implying that pajeets are better programmers than basedfags?

AMP shill
