Oh they do user. It's called administration and nobody knows what the fuck they are doing in it.
This post ended up turning into life advice and a blog but anyway, Marketing, it's not a meme, and pays very well but it's not worth the stress and hours. Doing an IT master's now and probably going cybersec since it's the only somewhat decent speciality my school offers but after having multiple breakdowns trying to find a field to realistically switch to over a few years I realized IT is my best option and even if I was a fresh highschool with my current knowledge I'd do the same. I'm a month and a half into my program and it's legitimately interesting and teaching me things unlike my entire BSc
For anyone who doesn't know, marketing isn't Mad Men, it's basically using Google Analytics to write proposals/reports with 10x the bullshit and stressing about answering stupid fucking emails and other garbage 20 hours a day. The departments are generally understaffed, extremely overworked, run by sjw diversity hires (I'm not trying to drag politics into this but they've made me unironically sexist), I've never heard a single person say anything positive about the field besides pay, I don't know how good IT will be or what level I want to work at but based on a ton of research it can't be anywhere this bad. No highschool grad actually knows what they really want to do, especially considering the brain develops until 25, so marketing was just "okay there's jobs and money I'll do this I guess" then had no idea what the field entailed until my last semester in uni since everything up to it was complete bullshit except the math classes.
If there's any takeaway from my ramblings, as long as you're making a comfortable amount of money, don't work longer hours or stressful jobs for more pay. It takes most people until they're a geriatric to really comprehend they only have one life and it's not worth wasting with this shit.

how do you get into this?
So I just want a quiet life in a nice European city/town and am actually taking steps to move to Germany (Belgium #2 choice) to accomplish this and yes I've been to Europe many times. I've lived in middle upper class American suburbs for 26 years and all it taught me is I'm going to fucking kill myself if I lived like this my entire life, I've legitimately tried to convince myself hurr America number 1 buy house and lawn that take up all your free time, get a bitchy wife to make you miserable after work and live nowhere near society and have to drive to go basically anywhere is great and europoors are jelly but I was so wrong, seeing how the average (first-second world) Euro lived made me sick to my stomach, they live like people in places made for people to live. I spent years trying to convince myself it was just cherrypicking and America still good but I couldn't, everything is beyond soulless and depressing and based on every anecdote I've read from people who lived both in the US and various European countries for years I'm not wrong
I took Adderall and am getting really off topic but if you have a chance to make significant life changes, do it. I'd be in Europe already but I'm trying to convince my dad in his 60s to go with me with moderate success
Not him but all truck driving is going to be automated and while they'll still require someone to sit in the truck for legal reasons, it'll be minimum wage at that point
Don't even know. Title says Engineer but I just mess around with a couple of Wordpress pages.
Been neet for years and it's beyond overrated. Doing an online MSc until I can move near the school and it still just feels like neet

Think they hire around 80k + a 10k starting bonus, but that's not a lot of money considering it's in New York.

You forgot to mention that you work 14 hour days, literally 2 full time jobs back to back, you get to go home maybe once a month and your pay would be minimum wage poverty tier if you weren't driving the maximum dot allowed driving time of 11 hours a day.

count as a "field"?
Yeah, it can be a pain but it's not so bad. Im making alot more than what I used to, and it'll look good on my resume
>Yeah. It can be a pain in the ass, but it's entry level and pays twice what I made last year so I don't mind so much. I come from a poor family, so it's a big step up from what I used to do, even if it's being a phone slave
